Life is too short to risk it against dumb/corrupt governments. He already has the money to buy even a bigger boat than this and can live with his girlfriend without worrying about anything.

It's all about making the things you believe in real. That's to be admired.

I believe more in the average government wanting to slice me into small pieces than the original principle though.

The first person through the door always gets their head blown off. Everyone who comes after shuffles through without a squeak.

It is frustrating waiting isn’t it my friend. We could be sitting on absolute gold mines but most of us have to wait for the price to increase fairly significantly to realise those riches.

It’s frustrating working, kissing ass at work & continuing about your daily business when in a few years we can probably all say ‘fuck you’ & walk out.

Nothing comes easily so patience it is. One day brother, one day.

Ugg.. so feeling this...

Made doubly so, since upper management around here has seemingly recently adopted the attitude of "the beatings will continue till moral improves" ..

63... that's my number.. 63K...  the day it hits 63K, I put in my notice....

hookers and blow will, unfortunately, have to wait for an order of magnitude above that...  Sad

Just make sure you don’t sell everything at 63k. Whatever you continue to HODL can act as a pension pot when you’re old & wrinkly. State & bank pensions fucking suck any way.

I don’t even know what 1 bitcoin will be worth when I’m retirement age but I’d be willing to bet it’ll be a fuck load more than if I put £200 a month into a shitty bank based pension.

I don't know why would anybody risk his life to build a "seastead" while you can buy one of these:
BAVARIA C57

https://i.imgur.com/OWd8XLq.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/6DMhyOx.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/pv5KCzH.jpg

The interior is huge. There are people who actually live on these boats. Life is too short to risk it against dumb/corrupt governments. He already has the money to buy even a bigger boat than this and can live with his girlfriend without worrying about anything.

That’s beautiful, it really is. I’d love to be able to buy one. I imagine it’d be very expensive though.

Depending on the physical condition, it varies between $500k and a million US Dollars.  Grin

Your real problems however, I imagine, only start after you buy it. You see the price tag before you buy this but you don't know what's waiting for you afterwards. The maintenance costs are probably huge as well as its interior. Can't imagine how expensive is a new set of sail fabrics for a boat that big.

Random BCH thought:

I'm surprised it has actually held up this well, it was around $300 at the start of the fork and remains in that area, still a top 5 coin and I'm sure Roger transferred btc for bch right at the start so he isn't doing too bad financially.  Long term success is still dicey.

The truly ridiculous thing about the whole affair is that as far as I know he didn't own it or build it. All he was doing was occupying it.

It looked sodding horrendous to me but I guess the idea will keep your cockles warm when 900 metre waves are battering you for months end.

He’s obviously very, very wealthy. I could think of a fuck loads of places I’d prefer to live if I had that kind of money. It looked horrible tbh!

Whatever floats your boat though I guess (no pun intended).

No worries there my friend...  I've got a spreadsheet already worked up with sell point intervals all the way from here till $1MM (and I'll still have a small stash even at that point) ..  63K is just the point where I've sold enough that I can reallocate the proceeds into a diverse portfolio and be able to live comfortably off of a 4% withdraw rate...

At this point, the plan is set... The plan was created back when there was no hype or FOMO happening, so I've pretty much taken emotions out of the picture..  Fortunately, I'm one of those personalities that I can follow the plan, and have no regrets later about "what if I'd have just...."

I can't advocate this method enough... Figure everything out now, and just sit back, relax and go on autopilot..  Also, read the WO thread to keep up to date, and for entertainment value...  this got me through the 2017 bubble without losing my mind, it should work again Smiley

I am sure Elwar paid more than that for his seastead.

I very much doubt it.  I have been watching the whole process and they were admirably frugal right along.  They used local labor, welded up the spar out in the open, not even in a shop.  Dragged it around with whatever they could scrounge up.

Elwar is NOT profligate with his money, they shopped around for their little boat for some time, and ended up buying a fixxer upper.

I would be quite surprised if there was more than $120K into the prototype all inclusive.

If i recall, i think Elwar wrote somewhere that he and his girlfriend did not fund it, just agreed to live on it for a brief time. Also I think I remember him saying 130k was raised for it, but I dont know if that was all of it or just partial funding. My memory could be off on these and Im not sure if it was a WO post or an article.

I remember reading that the bare bones model was only about $40k, but after adding in the generator, solar panels and desalinization doohickey, the price easily doubled. Plus another $20k if you want amenities like a kitchen and satellite internet. The seastead itself is quite affordable but everything that makes it worth living in sounds quite expensive. Not to mention travel costs.

if BTC hits 50k this year I'm going to buy this exact boat and name her "Hodl & Pump"

actually this coinbase/poloniex info-selling thing is getting seriously mysterious with 2 members confirming
witaf  Huh

I'm not sure if you've noticed but the

^^^--- don't care about such things.

Thats why stories like the one Hairy linked just die but everyone knows what retarded thing a Kardashian said.

Old news.  Just everyone has forgotten because Coinbase scandals are so regular.

https://decryptmedia.com/5488/coinbase-data-sold-executive-leak

They forget it because they just don't care, the world is full of pop culture mush minds and it just gets worse everyday.

On a side note until I googled that image I had no clue what they looked like.

Please tell me that was an empty paper wallet and you did not just post a private key.

Of course it's empty, thank you for your concern.

Btw I was actually contemplating on throwing in a few sats just to see what/when/who maybe.
I had a couple more drinks instead. Cool
