You gotta admit, if someone had proposed a virtual currency in 1969, people would have thought they were trippin'

In '69, Unix was first announced, AMD was founded, Linus Torvalds was born, and the first network switch was installed in UCLA. I don't think even LSD would have helped them dream up half the stuff we've got today. There's a reason why Star Trek TOS looked so futuristic.

It’s amazing what open source and honest collaboration can do on short notice. I’ve seen companies of 50+ people struggling for months on similar projects and not pulling it trough. If Bitcoin can foster such effective collaboration between random people, there’s got to be something of value in it (regardless any exchange rates)

<-- this should be a happy face... but there is no happy face crying emoticon?! Depending on the costs, I'd be interested in the case! I was planning on rigging up my own rack-mounted box out of an old server... but this would be much more convenient, and likely better looking Thanks for the update SB! Liquid Synergy Design. LSD. i'd be interested in the case as a seperate package with mounting screws, and case fans assembled. Would like this as cheap as possible since modding an atx case would be much much cheaper

I've been admiring this about the BTC community since day one. It's nuts what some people are able to do in this economy.

Steamboat, what's the word on upgrading our assembly package? I know you mentioned the possibility some pages ago. I ask because I want to bump mine up from basic assembly to assembled with heatsink, etc.

Steamboat, you wrote that the pcb design will be finished in the next 24 hours.. From following BkkCoins and terrahash, the Klondike design does not seem ready to me. Terrahash have a 16 chip board hashing with around 10% hardware error rate, bkk is down to less than 1% on his raspberry pi but having trouble with USB noise, and only this morning another tester reports no nonces from his chips 7 and 8... I think a few more days of testing before ordering production would be prudent.

+1
Also, will the PCB's be ordered at the same time for all the batches, or will there be an option to have the Rev. 2 PCB design for the later batches?

But what good would that do if he already ordered the PCBs? Or are you saying he will test the final revision of the current board before ordering the PCBs? I agree that BBKCoins seems almost ready, but maybe not quite. Can you shed any light on this, Steamboat? Thanks

ok once we get these how do we power them up? is there pins on the board to short or a switch? Anyone have any solutions for this?
edit: ok I got a few psu's laying around but I am unsure how to power on the power supplies without a host pc, what I'd like to do is have a nexus 7 or netbook run cgminer, how do I switch the power supply on? is there a switch I can buy for this?

One of the wires on the main cable on a PC power supply is an enable. I have a surplus PC power supply I am going to use. I might hook the enable to a switch or just be lazy and use a paper clip to connect it.

I've been making cables for my Klondike miners, each unit should consume 35 watts,so 3 units per 6pin PCIExpress cable on the PSU.Maybe only 2 will work, have to wait till I have product in hand. I got the male & female PCIE ends & pins from FrozenCPU & wire & snake covers from old PSU's,soldered the wires were needed Cablez can make the cables if you want & he has the switches to make PSU work on its own. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=74397.0

Update:
Hosting: The switched PDUs and PSUs are arriving early next week. We have chosen 550watt 80+gold PSUs to give both high efficiency and fine grain control for power cycling boards should the need arise. Each PSU will power between 13 and 15 boards, depending on the final power usage. The PSU will then be connected to our switched PDUs, which gives us the ability to power cycle the PSU remotely. The network infrastructure and configuration is nearing completion, and we will be ready to receive the units once they are assembled.
Hi SB, maybe you should consider revising your choice of the PSU or plan less boards per PSU. According to the best practices you shouldn't run a PSU at more than 70%. So a 550W PSU would be most efficient running at 385W. 12 boards running at 32W each would consume 384W and with slight overclocking even 12 boards would push past the 70%. +1 on the case. Is that 21 boards in there? I wonder what would it look like once you plug in all the cables. Cheers
