when are we do for another difficulty change? Huh
On Saturday afternoon most probably.

Network hashrate dropped significantly today and average between blocks is back up to 9.5 minutes or so.  I guess I would be surprised if the diff went up on Sat, but what do I know.

You have a good analytical mind - don't put yourself down,

K.

Of course now the network hashrate is climbing again (it was 140,000 GH/s earlier and now 160,000 GH/s) and time between blocks is down to almost 8.5 minutes.  I am curious about the large fluctuations in the total network hashrate. I mean 20,000 GH/s is the size of Slush's entire pool, how does that much compute power come and go so quickly?  Its like someone with 40 BFL Mini Rigs is dropping in and out of the network.  If I was in charge of $900,000 worth of equipment that generates sooo much  that a few seconds down can cost $1000s or $10,000s of dollars, I would make sure as
#!&| that the systems didnt go down.

shame on you for saying Slush is 20th/s!!!!!  it was bad enough at 18th/s now 19.8th/s grrr I dont want to buy another card to make up for these 1th/s increases!!!

If you really believe a higher Pool hashrate will lower your earnings, switch to a smaller pool or mine solo for maximum income! :-P

how is your post count doing?

No of course it doesn't.
every 1th/s increase/decrease in slush pool creates a decrease in my block amount. It is just a fact.
pool is at 19th/s now and my blocks are less
against 18th/s I am .005ish against 19th/s I have .004ish against 17t/hs I am .006ish
But u r right of course the pool hashrate has nothing to do with it...
After that 1st pool interrupt this week and the hashrate dropped back to 17th/s I wasnt getting .006ish a block AGAIN, when the hashrate got back up to 18th/s my blocks didnt drop to .005ish cuz it has nothing to do with the pool hashrate...
now with the pool at 19th/s my blocks are .004ish, but it has nothing to do with the pool hashrate....
For the past 2 months while I have chased this adding a 500mh/s miner it hasnt brought me back up to speed according to you.

u r right what I just said above is all a lie. how is your post count doing?

Just curious, does anyone know what the 100% figures really are on the pool luck? As of right now the luck is:
Pool luck (1 day, 7 days, 30 days):   51%, 98%, 95%.  And since we found 10 blocks today I can guess that the 1 day luck is finding 20 blocks.  Is that correct?

I'm a noob just starting, all donations are welcome.  13DXKRXQncUnWAFtemSwNH7boRZfEfsg5a

agree! the longer i think about it, the less i understand why a lower hashrate should increase my income. it's all about diff and at least for me -with some very slow miners- variance. that's it...

I haven't figured out how slush calculates luck at all. sorry. i can't

agree, too! higher hashrate means lower payout. but it's far more easy to watch your payout then getting some data about block frequency.

my point was really simple and in my opinion not really small: it's very easy to figure out and to complain about decreasing payouts per blocks. but the increase of block frequency and therefore the real earnings per day/week/month(?) are rather hard to figure out.

I am running out of ideas how to explain it.
So just listen to me singing :

As hashrate goes up, block rewards go down
But don't worry baby, don't frown
Cause we'll just find a few more blocks per day
I'll all average out for you, in a way

Dont spend all your time on slush' page hitting "stats"
The lower block reward will make you go nuts
Switch over to graphs, at least for a while
Day earnings quite constant, that will make you smile

Besides, thanks for asking, my post count is fine
I really have plenty of time while i mine
But diff will go up, i guess saturday
And thats what will take our earnings away

this is not directed at any one person but in general to the @AMD 7870 posts above: I just recently upgraded my gaming rig to 7870 ghz edition (hit a 185$ deal on newegg ~2 weeks ago?) and i run it on win7 latest drivers and I get ~405 Mh/s average just using guiminer, which everyone loves to hate it seems, but it runs fine with latest drivers... so I am happy. I am more of a gamer than a miner tho, so my priorities are skewed.

for people who are more knowledgeable i am wondering: my gpu clock is set at 1100. what kind of Mh/s would I be getting if I did do a driver-downgrade and ran cgminer instead...? would it really be so much higher than the ~405Mh/s that i currently get with guiminer?

We all used to be gamers too before we found mining...

Nah, I think 420 max for your card so 405 is good enough. I have the same card running at 400 and I'm happy with that - don't want it to overheat...

Pool luck 100% mean we find blocks after exactly 'difficulty' shares, so if we have found today 10 block with total of 193392580 shares we are at 100% if we have found 10 blocks with 386785160 shares calculated we are at 50% luck and if found after just 96696290 shares we are at 200%
The same for the weekly and monthly luck:
Luck = shares calculated / blocks found / difficulty * 100
To make it easier to calculate with the difficulty changing from time to time Slush probably calculates the % for each round and then just averages the % for the period i.e.
round luck = shares / difficulty * 100
There is small mistake introduced at each difficulty change, because part of the shares are against the old difficulty, but it can be ignored and not worth the complication of calculations
