RESTART SERVER !!!!!!!!!
Hehe - I was thinking - shutdown, reboot Tyт нe дyмaть, a пepeзaпycкaть cepвep нyжнo! Этa фигня пpoиcxoдит пocлe кaждoй cмeны cлoжнocти, тoлькo длитcя пo-paзнoмy... to je pravda, děje se to snad po každym zvýšení obtížnosti. So, isn't there a bug when this appears regularly? Eg. some clients trying to send shares with bad nbits or whatever (I know this looks like nonsens , well simply shares [edit]of high enouhg difficulty[/edit] that are unacceptable as blocks for some reason), so doing unusable work? Do very long rounds appear after retargetting at other pools also?

We should see our luck change any minute now - I just plugged 13 new usb asic miners into slush's pool...
we talking block erupters or BFL stuff? heh, erupters, I'm thinking "humor". i added 7 today, brings me up to 17 total. yeah asicminer erupters - now I have 17 too

We do seem to have bad luck after a big diff increase - people panick and switch pools for a few days while the hard core carry on. Then things get back to normal for another 8 or 9 days. Then it starts again with another diff increase.

I mean with less mining, you are bound to find fewer blocks.

I hope and pray that the 4 Th/s never comes back ever again. It vanished after causing the difficulty to skyrocket. I am sure the pool luck will improve in the hours to come.

huh? i really doubt that they stopped mining, i suspect that they just moved to a competing pool, or went private. Unknown keeps growing. I'm pretty sure that they are still affecting difficulty.

It just moved to another pool is all -- difficulty would've gone up no matter where they were mining, and it would be nice to have them back with us.

It has nothing to do with it. coincidence that's all. that 4TH worth of computing power jumped pool because of bad luck in the first place.

well I left because - namecoin merged mining does not work at all for me although it is said it should work - slush's score system is poor because when a block is found really quickly many ppl get so little of it because of the scoring system

My eruptor actually gets a pretty good number of shares on quick blocks, but my GPUs don't. Not sure if it has anything to do with it.

Umm... no offense bitdude, but if your hardware isn't submitting shares quickly enough in short rounds... maybe its your hardware. Up until recently I was only running GPUs and the VAST majority of short blocks were well within the acceptable variability one should expect in a short round. Short rounds are unpredictable. If your miner(s) happen to be working on a higher diff share(s) during the short round you may not submit those in time to get in the round. Its the nature of mining. If you've changed your diff on your workers, maybe consider lowering it. All in all, the scoring system has some flaws that usually get fixed by Slush, but for the most part it works. If you don't like the variations in pay, thats ok, there are plenty of pools with very consistent pay (PPS or PPLNS). But don't go bashing Slush's system just cause you don't like it. Feel free to share concerns or ask questions, but bashing a system you don't seem to understand or like is kind of pointless.

Quote from: bitdude on Today at 01:40:46 PM well I left because - namecoin merged mining does not work at all for me although it is said it should work - slush's score system is poor because when a block is found really quickly many ppl get so little of it because of the scoring system I might be mistaken, but on quick rounds I thought that your share is highly dependent on your Miner's ability to react to new work as a result of a new block. (Your miner has to purge all existing work and start on the new work as quickly as possible.) One good indicator of your miner's performance in this regard is to watch the number of rejected shares that you get after a new block is started. This epoch does not necessarily correspond to a new round in the pool, as the new block might not be a result of a report from the pool you are mining for. Given that Slush pioneered Stratum tecnology, I would expect that the blame for purge delay should lay with either the mining firmware or the mining software (and not with Slush's Stratum worksource). A straw poll: What mining software are you using, and how well does it perform when a block changes?blackice: Moduar Python Bitcoin Miner, ~3 Rejects/Block Change I get better portions on quick rounds than regular rounds on Slush's pool. I think that means most folks are not purging as well as they could be. YMMV

I'm not a math whiz, but this just doesn't feel right. that CDF thing, i've never been able to wrap my mind around it. Is it saying that we are just a little off what is statistically expected? or is it not relevent to our run of bad luck. Yesterday i added Hashers and lost ground . I can't say that i'm liking this. If it is luck, then i know it will turn around eventually, but could it be something else? Is there a way for external influences to affect our luck?
