If I'd delete my account in pool, will I be payed off automatically?
I think if you set your Send Threshold to lower than your Confirmed Reward, it will auto payout. Same with leftover NMC.

except that some of us have less NMC than the smallest allowable threshold. I think i remember slush saying that account deletion was a way to get what was left. but that was a while ago considering how quiet slush has been.

Is NMC worth anything ATM? And why did the time between blocks get so large there at the end?

To answer my own stupid question, 0.00408590 BTC on Vircurex.com. So the answer is, not much. So if I had four thousand namecoins, I'd have the equivalent of one bitcoin? Is that right? I'll send my five or so lousy namecoins to the first person that gives me a place to send them. Just don't keep bombing me with addresses after you see one posted.

Okay, basic math. If I had /250/ NMC, I'd have one BTC. Still, not much.

I even have less BTC than treshold.

Anyway, is that for sure? SHA-256 is no longer profitable, I have switched to Scrypt.

Not a bad run so far...

Yeah! I want to go on record and blame this good luck on the DIFF.
so keep that in mind when we have bad luck it cant be the diff.

*apology* I am new to this whole thing and even though I've been trying to read as much as I can the last few weeks, it's a lot to absorb. Please forgive this possibly stupid question.*/apology*

What is DIFF?

It refers to difficulty, it an automatic thing which makes mining bitcoin more difficult the faster they are found, basically its to keep the bitcoin law true "coins can only be found once every 10 minutes (on average)".

That the jist of it, I am also a newb so might have forgotten something :-)

Thank you. How does it relate to the Diff 1/1 output?

a Diff 65750061/1 share will find a block
Pools distribute Diff1 shares historically to give miners something easier to work on and to count so miners can be paid - now that pools distribute variable difficulty shares (higher for faster miners) they usually convert back to diff1 for counting shares and paying miners

Pools do not distribute shares.
You find shares and send them to the pool.
Difficulty does not effect how long it takes to calculate the hash, you dont get "something easier to work on", you just dont have to calculate that many hashes before one fits given diff.

Your miners calculate hundreds of thousands of hashes per second. Those match a certain difficulty (and all lower ones).
You choose a diff and send all hashes matching at least that diff as shares to the server.
You tell the server which number is yours, and based on that the server can calculate your hashing power.

If you set a higher diff in the pool config, your miners will do exactly what they did before, they will not calculate more or less or easier tasks or anything.
Your mining client will just send less of your hashes to the pool, and they will be rated higher.

Im having issues connecting to the pool. It was fine, but I needed to reboot, and upon reboot it would say "Pool 1 is hiding work"

I tried both stratum and non stratum in BFGminer.

The pool suggests a difficulty of 64 for ASICS running 60 - 120 GH/s.  I would think that the difficulty could be set much higher than 64.  Maybe the purpose is to submit many shares to smooth out the variance?  I am not sure how this number is chosen.  I noticed on one pool I set it very low by mistake and I hardly had any earnings.

So what you're saying then is that the 1/1 shares have value at the cost of devaluation of the higher rated shares?

And is it mining?  Nearly ALL the pools give that error message.  It doesn't keep you from mining.

If you get stuff like this after that message

    [2013-09-02 12:12:04] Accepted c9fa67f8 ICA 0  pool 0 Diff 1/1

then you're mining.  A lot more help can be found at https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=168174.

I am not quite sure i get what you are saying, but probably: yes.
If you submit 1-shares, you will submit more shares to the server, but they will give you less score.
If you set the diff higher, you will submit less shares, but they will score higher.
That way, your average score will always be the same.

Higher diff means more variance but less network load.

um... i have no use for namecoins, other that to convert them to bitcoins. I have the namcoin address pointing to my address on BTC-e everything was fat, dumb, and happy. the address worked ok on BTCguild. I've never had enough namecoin to pay out on Slush. Well, today, Slush pool is saying that the address isn't valid and that i sould get a namecoin client. Tongue

Any idea what is going on? Not enough namecoin to go crazy about.

Okay, that is helpful to know. I'm still wrapping my head around all of this so I appreciate the responses.
