Hello I´m trying to get new rig runing. My 3x vega cards on main PSU are woking fine but whenever i try to run the cards which are supplied by second psu  it runs for  sec and then the second psu and the cards supplied by it shuts down. My main PSu is Evga gold 1000GQ  My second PSu is same brand  but 700w - Evga gold 700GQ which i use to power 4th and 5th card and  their risers(tried to power risers from main psu had the same effect) I can mine on 4th or 5th  vega when launched without the cards on main psu

Is it a PSU problem  ? i also have just 4gb ram but i have enough paging file memory on ssd

what cables are you using? I experienced a similar problem trying to connect a couple of Vegas to a 750W PSU which only had 3 8 pin PCIe connectors, so I had to use a 2 8Pin PCIe to 1 8Pin PCIe adaptor, and the PSU run for less than a second because that cable in particular created some kind of short circuit, and the solution was to use another conector, a SATA to PCIe adaptor which did the job quite well.

It loooks like this https://imgur.com/a/EdcbA  after  i start cast xmr it works for few seconds then the 2x cards on other psu shuts down

im using https://www.miner-shop.cz/prislusenstvi/psu-2-psu/

tryed changing gpu powers cables to 2x 8pin in vga and 2 x8pin in psu from 2x 8pin in vga and 1 8pin psu it had same effect

I managed to get it work with turning on and off all cards in devices  and also turning on and off hbcc on all cards this makes it work but only for 80 mins  then same thing happens
you don't need to do that. Maybe that cable isn't stable enough and creates some stress on the motherboard. There is a much, much cheaper and energy efficient solution to use 2 PSUs at once --I've seen some miners using a very expensive adaptor to connect 2 PSUs to the same motherboard.  Sad ONE of the PSUs doesn't need to connected to the motherboard at all. Learnt this trick in my first year studying computer science and testing computers, 2 years ago --it was one of the questions in the exam  Cheesy Cheesy.

The green and black cable of the the PSU can be bridged using a paper clip, this is meant for the PSU to be tested and check if it works or not. If the fan starts spinning then the PSU is fine (so you check for issues on other componentes).

The EVGAs include a piece of plastic to make that bridge and test the PSUs. You can use that or just the paper clip trick, a bent needle, etc etc etc.

https://aphnetworks.com/tutorials/psu_paperclip_trick

my psu´s cables are all black
probably an EVGA? EVGAs come with a plastic piece and 2 pins which have the same function as the paper clip trick, checking if the PSU is working well. iirc, it's the 13th and 15th pin you just need to connect, but I am talking from memory here, there should be guides online.

both Psu we workin just fine  i dont know what was the problem tryed everything several times including diffrent 2x Psu adapter or without adapter using paper clip triick  im not amateur when it comes to hardware but ended burning up my second Psu with dat magic paper clip trick , But I managed to get 5 vegas workin  on  the first psu 1000W evga but undervolting it alot l i get now 9150h  but pc crashes from time to time (5times a day least..) So I want to buy second psu to get it workin properly with stable hashing 24h , Problem is the same Evga gold 1000W which i alredy have would take 3 weeks before it gets to me So i want to buy other Psu but dont want to burn it like the last one ? so Should i wait for the same PSU or can i buy diffrent PSu with 1000W power ?

Btw thx for answers
what happened?? I can tell you that I am not the most handyman in the world, in fact, on the contrary, I try to be very careful because I feel very bad if I break something, but tried that trick in class and at home and never ever had an issue with it.

The EVGAs you have keep you from going over that hassle because I also have a 1000W and a 750W EVGA PSU and they are bundled with a nifty piece of plastic that emulates the paper clip, but it's like a billion times easier to test the PSU that way. I used that piece of plastic in 2 of the Vega rigs I've built. Wonder how you missed that, I mentioned that piece in a previous reply to you, and the EVGAs come bundled with it.

How do you manage to have the Vegas mining at 2000H/s with a power consumption of 100W? That sounds like a miracle. I optimised mine as finely as I could and the power consumption is 140-150W off the wall, I measured it recently, so I am curious...

in regards to the myth of Windows only being able to manage 8 GPUs....that's another one debunked.

Windows to date will allow you to run 13 total 8 of a kind +5 of the other or a combination there of.  If you want more than 13 regular cards, then you must buy P106 or P104 cards.  I have this issue running windows to get 19 cards working on the Asus B250 Mining Expert.

Pretty sure the “myth” started as windows cannot run more than 8 Vega GPUs. Then somehow evolved into it cannot run more than 8 GPUs. It is actually not windows that is the issue anyway.

My understanding is, it is the blockchain drivers that allow only 8 Vega GPUs. Never was a windows limitation anyway.

I'm getting MicroHTTPD: HTTPSession Exception: read_some: End of file. On one rig after some time.
Anyone knows what it is?

Anyone know how to fix this when you have over 4 GPU's? when you have over 4 you get this error:

Still there is some limitation from software side. Some are still limited to 8GPU's. I have rig with 10*1070ti and tpruvot ccminer 2.2.3/4 can't run hmq1725 stable on it. While other miners/algos work well. If I run with any 8 of them - it's OK.
Also Afterburner is still not capable to show more than 8 GPU's.

Boo Yar
Got 1300SOC timings running on a Vega 64 BLOCKCHAIN DRIVERS

Hashing at 2218H/s. Grin
HBM at 1225 v1.35
Core 1087 v1
Core Temp 37C
HBM Temp 42C
Stock Bios
Win 10. Aug Blockchain. Cast XMR 0.8

5 more on the memory starts to error.

Reg Mod for this, Again Vega 64 Powercolor, stock bios NOT water cooled bios.

Lowers the p7 so that at -30 hits 1087 on this card. Starts the memory at 1175 so do not even consider using if your card cant do this kind of timings already. The second upload is the bios mod for the same stock 64 bios but at 1200soc. Gives 900mv at -30% core = 980mhz, HBM starts at 1170 on that. Pulls ~2000 with HBM upped to 1190.

1300SOC - slightly lower p7 core
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YVtLP6XUidneMNW7J_XgKsjLELriMM6x/view?usp=sharing

1200SOC - lower core speed for p5-p7 and voltage.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1epe-KoXk5wUPn02H7D5qeWAleuLC6DHj/view?usp=sharing

Both cards EK water-cooled. 1300soc is running at 36C and the 1200soc is at 38C.

I'm having troubles with a 4 * Vega 64 rig. After 6-12 hours, cast locks up and one card will be hashing at zero. Probably temp related throttling?

What settings should I start to lower to troubleshoot? P6/P7/M3 in ntools? or the reg file for HBM?

Right now I'm using;

Reg File: 1100mhz 905mv

OverdriveNtool:
[Profile_0]
Name=Vega64
GPU_P0=852;800
GPU_P1=991;900
GPU_P2=1084;950
GPU_P3=1138;1000
GPU_P4=1200;1050
GPU_P5=1401;1100
GPU_P6=1212;950
GPU_P7=1408;905
Mem_P0=167;800
Mem_P1=500;800
Mem_P2=800;950
Mem_P3=1100;905
Fan_Min=3000
Fan_Max=4900
Fan_Target=75
Fan_Acoustic=2400
Power_Temp=85
Power_Target=0

I would lower the Mem_P3 for card that goes to nirvana. BTW for Fan_Target I wouldn't use value higher than 60.

If you have not done it already, Try to check your MB Bios if the PCI slots settings are on AUTO and switch them to Gen 1 or Gen 2 .  I had a similar problem of one Vega locking after many hours of flawless hashing. it was solved by changing from AUTO to Gen 1.

Is there a way to setup/define backup pools? Don't see a way. That's the only thing keeping me from using Cast XMR.
Go to the dev site, is written in the instructions.

Sorry but I cannot find it. I've read it all, and... can't see it. Dare to give us a hint?

I swear I found it on dev papers, but I cannot find it any more.

Anyway here is my bat. file  for ETN with 7 attempts reconnects and 8 hours restarts, you can change it to your liking.

Cast XMR - Highspeed CryptoNight (Monero/Bytecoin/DigitalNote/Intense) Miner for Radeon RX Vega GPUs

Update to version 0.8 on 2017/12/14

Cast XMR reaches hash rates of more then 2050 CryptoNight Hashes/s on an single RX Vega 56 or Vega 64 GPU.

http://www.gandalph3000.com/images/cast_xmr.png

Features

- Full support for CryptoNight/CryptoNote based currencies:
  • Monereo (XMR)
  • Bytecoin (BCN)
  • DigitalNote (XDN)
  • Intense (ITNS)
  • Electroneum (ETN)
- Fastest miner for AMD Radeon RX Vega GPU series (more then 2KHash/s)
- Optimized cores for RX Vega Blockchain driver
- RX Vega Blockchain driver detection
- Multiple GPU support for upto 8 Vega GPUs
- Monitor temperature and fan speed of each GPU
- Full pool support
- Nicehash support
- Remote http access for statistics in JSON format
- only 1.5% dev fee

Requirements

  - Windows 8/8.1/10 64 bit
  - AMD Radeon RX Vega 56/64 GPU with at least 8GB RAM
  - or AMD Radeon RX 480/RX 580 GPU with a least 4GB RAM
  - For about 80% higher hash rates the ReLive Edition Beta for [Suspicious link removed]pute Driver Version 17.30.1029 has to be installed

Version History

Cast XMR Version 0.8 (2017/12/14)

  - kernel optimizations result in subtle performance improvements
  - --fastjobswitch option (experimental) to force fast switching to new jobs. When enabled the GPUs will switch to the new job within less then 100ms. This improves the effective hash rate by 1 to 5% as nearly no GPU performance will be wasted on calculating outdated shares anymore. The drawback is a slightly lower displayed hashrate as while switching no hashes are calculated.
  - improved support for more then 8 GPUs
  - support for Radeon RX 470/RX 570 (Polaris) added
  - --forcecompute option to force kernel for compute mode on Polaris (RX470/570/480/580) GPUs. In the Radeon Settings GPU Workload has to be switched to 'Compute'. This option is available in Crimson 17.10.2 (or later) driver and reaches nearly the same performance on Polaris based GPUs as with the Blockchain driver.
  - openCL platform is auto detected if --opencl is not specified
  - --nonicehash option to disable nicehash support
  - nicehash support will automatically disabled if more then 8 GPUs are used. Otherwise search space could be exhausted to early and the GPUs search in overlapping nonce ranges.

Cast XMR Version 0.7 (2017/11/29)

  - network and job status added to current statistics
  - remote access to get current status at http://127.0.0.1:7777 in JSON format (enable with --remoteaccess)
  - command line option to specify number of reconnects to pool (default 100) before giving up (set with --reconnects n)
  - fix for nicehash to support upto 8 GPUs (before only 4 were possible)

Cast XMR Version 0.6 (2017/10/27)

  - improved queue sync which results in an 0.1% higher average hash rate
  - experimental support for Radeon RX 480/580 GPUs added
  - pessing 's' key prints the current statistics
  - count outdated and invalid shares separate
  - fixed random crash when quitting app
  - bugfix: invalid command line arguments did hang app

Cast XMR Version 0.5 (2017/10/19)

  - support for multiple Vega GPUs. Specify multiple GPUs comma separated with the -G switch like "-G 0,1,2,3"
  - monitor temperature and fan speed for each GPU
  - subtle performance improvements in core

Cast XMR Version 0.4 (2017/10/13)

  - performance optimizations result in 1 - 2% higher hash rates
  - reduced dev fee to 1.5%

Cast XMR Version 0.3 (2017/10/10)

  - performance optimizations result in 5 - 10% higher hash rates
  -  breaking the 2 KHashes/s barrier with working overclocking settings for RX Vega 64 and RX Vega 56

Cast XMR Version 0.2 (2017/09/27)

  - performance improvement result in 1% higher hashrates
  - Improved support for RX Vega 56 (now goes faster then a Vega 64 !?)
  - Detection if Blockchain driver is installed
  - Fix for Sikka and Intense pools

Cast XMR Version 0.1 (2017/09/22)

  - Initial Release

How To

cast_xmr has a command line interface. For a minimal configuration run:

cast_xmr -S [pool server] -u [username or wallet address]

For a complete list of configuration options run:

cast_xmr --help

Read here how to get the best mining performance with a Radeon RX Vega 56/64 GPU

Download Cast XMR 0.8 for Windows (64bit)

Linux version maybe somewhere in time ...

Does cast miner supports payment ID if yes how to enter it as i know it is highly recommended to use it as an added authenticity. Please help.

Didn't you start a whole thread about how you're mining straight to Kraken? Which uses integrated payment id.

If you click help/getting started on your pools website, it should give you examples. Generally, it's Wallet_Address.Payment_ID

Just a quick update, been mining using cast 0.8 for 4 weeks now with no problems whatsoever. I really wanna go on for longer but I might switch to something else since monero mining has slowed down so much. It wouldn't be so bad if I could get more vegas but those cards are hard to get, almost impossible for close to msrp.

NO, but seriously LOL!!!!!  What are you even talking about?? Cryptonight coins are the most profitable coins you can mine bar any card anywhere on this planet. If you have vegas you you have the most profitable mining cards arguably one can buy paired with the fastest miner.

6 1080Ti vs 6 Vega 64s

Compare for yourself.

I don't know why.... just so much dumb posted here all the time.

Right now I'm using;

Reg File: 1100mhz 905mv

OverdriveNtool:
[Profile_0]
Name=Vega64
GPU_P6=1212;950
GPU_P7=1408;905
Mem_P3=1100;905
Fan_Target=75

I would lower the Mem_P3 for card that goes to nirvana. BTW for Fan_Target I wouldn't use value higher than 60.

Thanks. I lowered Mem_P3 to 1050 first > still crashed. Then I lowered to 1000 and it has mined for 36 hrs continuously Wink

Thanks again! Smiley
