Quote
Alincoln, How do you want to go about getting matching donations from the community? personal message? Or does an ANC escrow service exist? Perhaps just a shared doc somewhere?

IMO a shared sheet managed by someone appointed by the community is enough.

I'll match all ANC donations up to $5,000 if the dev team is able to successfully deliver a new version of the ANC wallet with the Zerocoin protocol fully implemented before June 1st.

The implementation must achieve minimally the following: 1) full anonymization of all transactions; 2) be 100% trustless

The feat should be well documented and independently reviewed by a reputable third party. The third party could be any of the major Bitcoin publications, or someone with expertise in cryptography. If you have a better idea I'm accepting suggestions.

After it's independently reviewed and accepted by the community, I'll use Cryptsy's 7 day average rate to convert and match all donations up to $5,000.

This should be seen as a motivation factor and a reward for the developers. If they want to spend the money with girls or traveling instead of reinvesting in ANC itself, it's really up to them.

When you say "1) full anonymization of all transactions;" I think we should be more precise about what it means. When Zerocoin is fully and securely implemented in Anoncoin, you can spend a zerocoin you minted previously, and nobody without access to your computer would be able to connect the minting with the spending. The users still have to watch out for side-channel attacks, such as malware on their computer (even in a VM!), or somebody looking over their shoulder. Also, if their minting and spending have certain patterns (made at the same day of week and time of day, or a very unique combination of denominations), then this can make it possible to link mints and spends. A careless user may also link the same Anoncoin address to both the minting and the spending transactions.

Also, though I2P is very likely to be secure (and more likely to be secure than Tor, in my opinion, because it is harder to do traffic analysis on a packet-switched mixnet), if somebody could ever de-anonymize I2P users, then they could de-anonymize Anoncoin users (even if they use Zerocoin).

If the above caveats are acceptable to you, then I accept your offer.

Hi, your caveats are acceptable.

It's up for the community (or yourself) to create a shared sheet and ask for donations.

Good luck!

I saw nice rise of value and volume on DRK,
and I can only imagine what price could be and will be after Zerocoin and few PR moves.

It is obvious that anonymous coins have an audience, and who must have the most, but the first and true anonymous coin  ANC !!!

I am not competent to create a logo or setting up voting on the forum, but I see that there are potential members that could trigger some changes and discussions.

I hope that someone will make the first move, before Zerocoina who seems to be at the end of implantation. We need to prepare the ground a bit.

It's easier to spin the story if the ice breaks and discussions continue.

Read this interview I did a couple months ago. Note that the last paragraph ("What do you think"...) is not from me, even though it's in the same font and there is no divider above it.

Any Anoncoins you buy or mine now will be convertible to/from zerocoins once it is launched. You won't need to use an exchange, but you will need to upgrade your wallet software.

Gnosis,

How do you respond to the criticism that you might indeed be able to use an algorithm to generate a number of unknown factorization that contains two large prime factors (the so called RSA UFO, a key part of a trustless solution to Zerocoin), but you won't be able to prove you actually used such an algorithm, meaning your Zerocoin implementation will require that we have trust on you?

My try...

A for AnonCoin and An Arch (=no leader) as in Anarchy.
Sphere around the A as in the classic Anarchy symbol, and also as the Globe in the current AnonCoin logo.
Two horizontal lines thru the letter, for the usual money symbol style,
also results in several layers within the A, symbolizing security layers,
black within the A symbolizing anonymity in contrast to the outer grey noise, symbolizing the outer world.

So you have symbols for:
Freedom, Roots, Global, Currency, Security, Anonymity

Also possible to get with plain grey without noise, or a black A without any background, and so on...

I have found an approach that anyone can verify. It involves hashing, which means that anyone can verify that I did not multiply prime factors together to generate the "UFO"s (I would need to mount a pre-image attack on the hash function). We can assume that the candidates are uniformly distributed in the range [0, 2^3840), which is nice. See Github (if you read C++):

https://github.com/Anoncoin/anoncoin/blob/zerocoin/src/libzerocoin/ParamGeneration.cpp#L748
https://github.com/Anoncoin/anoncoin/blob/zerocoin/src/libzerocoin/PrintUFOCandidate.cpp

PrintUFOCandidate.cpp compiles to a program called "ufo" (do "cd src/libzerocoin/Build-gcc && make -j9 ufo && ./ufo `seq 0 16`") that takes one or more "UFO index" numbers on the command line and generates 3840-bit UFO candidates using SHA-256 hashing. The output format is one or more lines of "<ufoIndex>:<ufo_candidate>". I am working on a system in which the community can participate in testing these candidates.

My posts in this Reddit thread explain it further.

Gnosis,

Has the problem described on this thread been solved?

https://pay.reddit.com/r/crypto/comments/1t23ph/generating_a_composite_number_of_unknown/

Yes it has been solved.

Since your previous estimates (late march / early april) did not come to fruition, would you be so kind to provide us with a new, realistic estimation for when the testnet will be out?
