Will GUI wallets be part of the Atlantis release?
It would be great of the community to vote for the speedy development of a normal wallet.

A normal wallet for me is CLI.  GUI wallets were on the roadmap from the beginning, slated to be released by end of Q2 2018.

So are the block rewards halving every year for 8 years till we get to the yearly infinite inflation rate?

The block reward is smoothly varying

What does that mean lol Tongue is that a fancy way of saying its going to halve every year Wink

Probably similar to Monero's block rewards.

Block reward = (M - A) * 2-20 * 10-12, where A = current circulation.

Hi CapDero and Serena, I have a question regarding the virtual machine of DERO that will allowed to run smart contracts. Whit this virtual machine is possible to create tokens?
Thanks for your answer

Given the recent regulatory uncertainties around ICOs, Dero is going to make sure we do thorough research on the subject before we give a firm answer. They're not a bad idea, we just really need to make sure we choose the correct path, and for now, all paths are less clear until we have some regulatory certainty.

It would be nice to have the opportunity to create tokens in the DERO net. However, thinking in the regulatory aspects perhaps creating a DAICO systems will be an option.

dero is thinking about dropping cryptonote from our protocol name.

We've redesigned EVERYTHING - databases, p2p protocol, #Consensus protocol, POW, Forking, Security, Scalability, etc.

Thoughts?

Is the new POW based on cryptonote? will it be GPU mineable from the start or only cpu?

Was the atlantis update on Apr 20 the hard fork? Or are those two separate events? I have been gone a while and didn't realize Dero was going to fork.

They're two different things - Atlantis will be launching very soon

Thank you for the word  Smiley!

If you aren't using CryptoNote anymore then drop it from the description; seems pretty clear cut to me.

EDIT - whatever is used for PoW, I sure hope you all have lined up (or chosen) compatible mining software, however.

How to start using Dero                Downloads                Whitepaper                Support

About DERO

The Dero Project has written a unique new blockchain technology that is based on the CryptoNote protocol. Dero's goal is to create a unique state of the art blockchain technology with enhanced reliability, privacy, security, usability, and portability by bringing together some of the best proven technologies like the CryptoNote protocol and smart contracts, thereby allowing for the creation of truly private smart contracts.

The Dero development team has implemented complete SSL across the Dero network which is a first on any blockchain. This encrypts the entirety of our network traffic, which greatly reduces our attack surface, while simultaneously preventing ISPs or other users from analyzing Dero’s network traffic.

Dero's Key Features

  • DERO is a completely new and unique CryptoNote blockchain written in Golang
  • DERO is the first blockchain to have complete SSL in the P2P layer
  • DERO will be the first CryptoNote blockchain to have 500 transactions per second on its native blockchain without any lightning networks, validators or off-blockchain solutions
  • DERO will be first CryptoNote blockchain to have smart contracts on its native chain without any extra layers or secondary blockchains
  • CryptoNote privacy
  • Smart contracts
  • Atomic swaps
  • Mobile and offline wallets
  • Lightweight wallets
  • Subaddresses
  • Escrow services on the blockchain
  • Address signing and certifying
  • Voting on a private blockchain

About The Developers

There are three developers working on the Dero Project who have been working in the field of cryptography and blockchain development as a team for more than a decade. Dero's research and development team are devoted full time to the project, and can often be found in our Slack channel. For now, the development team are choosing to retain their privacy until the Dero Project incorporates.

Coin Specifications

  • Proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm: CryptoNight
  • Max supply: 18.4 million for the first 8 years followed by an infinite emission rate after year 8 of ~157,000 DERO/year
  • Block reward: Smoothly varying
  • Block time: 120 seconds
  • Difficulty: Retargets at every block
  • Ticker: DERO

Dero's Roadmap

  • Q1/2018 - Dero's new unique blockchain written and full Activation. - Completed ahead of schedule with the extra addition of complete SSL across Dero's network
  • Q2/2018 - Record CryptoNote TX/sec, GUI wallets, sub addresses, atomic swaps, and smart contract testing.
  • Q3/2018 - Smart contract support on chain. Q3 2018.
  • Q4/2018 - Strategic market expansion, team growth, and more (coming soon).

The new PoW algo is built for 3 second blocks and we had to come up with something just for Dero. No orphans and we did some other interesting stuff to reduce blockchain bloat that is seen in fast PoW block chains

I'm going to get a trivia bot going in a Dero discord channel soon for fun. I am also going to periodically give away a little bit of Dero (nothing crazy, like $1 worth per round) some rounds

It's 99% for fun and the Dero is just a very small thing I'm adding myself from my own Dero. The rounds aren't long, about 5-7 minutes on average, so if you're bored it could be interesting!

Serena, the cryptonote protocol and cryptonight algorithm was the first thing that catch me in the DERO project, as both are well known and stable amount the crypto community. Later and not after having read the DERO`s whitepaper is when I realize the amazing thing that is running over here.
In my humble opinion, you should list the differences and advantages between cryptonote protocol and the “new DERO protocol”. As DERO team have redesigned everything would be important to see the differences and advantages between both before make a decision.
Remember that cryptonote protocol is very reliable, trusted and supported among the community and DERO will have to prove to be better if DERO team is going to say they have something better.
Like I said, in my humble opinion, would be very important before make a decision to see a list of differences and advantages.

Dero network is currently running piles of ASIC making GPU mining impossible. You have to wait a week or four till they release their new update which will boot the ASICs off the network and make GPU mining profitable again.
