I once read an article that says bitcoin is used as a payment transaction for terrorists and hackers. And maybe you guys in this forum also already know it. But here i want to convey my personal opinion in that matter. I think that internet and bitcoin interrelated. Many terrorists and criminals use internet.begitu also with bitcoin which also used perpetrator However, despite all these issues, do people make concrete efforts to ban the internet? No. Not because removing and banning Bitcoin is difficult, but because the internet offers more positive than negative. For the same reason, we have to be more careful about our mindset for Bitcoin, because much evidence has shown that Bitcoin brings many positive, if not more, effects than the internet. Internet and Bitcoin are just devices that 'bad guys' and 'good people'. Fortunately, the world is filled with more people in the 'good people' category.
There have been a lot of instances wherein Bitcoins were used for Frauds etc. You can actually check the Scam Accusations and Reputation section of this forum to see the ways of how they utilize cryptocurrency to get money. Since Bitcoin transactions is irreversible, it's easy for them to get the money and just run away. There is no way for governments to go after the criminal since it's not yet regulated in some countries. But this shouldn't be a let down for good faith investors or potential users. Bitcoin is used no different that regular money are used, the differences are big though. |

I am a little bit tired of hearing stuff like this. Bitcoin is implicated to terror activities, to illegal activities, to the deep web where everything appears to be illegal thus underground, and so on. There is no point really to generalize anything at this point as a some kind of tool for terrorists. You are right. The internet has been a very effective instrument for recruitment of all these scumbags. And yet the internet continues and is even the source of so many good things. It all depends on how we use our resources such as Bitcoin and the internet.

Yes, news of crime involving bitcoin tends to be hyperbolic. For those who are easily affected will definitely consider bitcoin very bad. On the other hand, fiat and other assets also have a greater chance of being used as a crime tool, are not they? |

It is also used by criminals and not only by criminals.But the media would say that only criminals use bitcoins.That makes the difference.
Since bitcoin is a decentralized currency,it is free to use for any one either for good or for bad just like the internet.Its true that much earlier,bitcoin was mostly used by dark net markets for buying illegal products but now,bitcoin has wider base of users all over the world and it is used mostly for trading and might get used for payments once lightning network gets activated.
So,it just remains as a criticism.

O yes they do! As Bitcoin became an opportunity for many to earn and live a better life, same thing is true to these demonic beings..Bitcoin has also become an open venue for many criminal activities around the world. The governments have no hand on this since Bitcoin is generally not regulated in most parts of the world. So criminals can easily run off without fear of getting caught. |

Well, bitcoin is really used by the criminals to transact because of the bitcoin anonymous that protect the profile of each other criminal. Bitcoin is in used in the deep web also in dark web to transact with hackers and dealers. It is also used as a payment to access the porn or gore sites there.

Any cryptocurrency that has value can be used by criminals specially bitcoins because of its anonymity feature but whats wrong with it even fiat money we are using today are used by criminals long time ago so theres no reason to ban bitcoin just because its is used in crimes.

It is obvious that bitcoin can be used for criminal practices or money laundering, but not because the bitcoin is essentially bad, but because it is valuable, anonymous and decentralized, features that offer great advantages to those who like to do illegal things. However it should be made clear that still the vast majority of the illegal activities of the world continue to be made through the fiat money, but I do not see anyone promoting the ban of cash for this fact.

I think this is what the goverment needs to read, especially my county indonesia. they always look the negative impact from a great tech and scared with that. they always forget the positive impact from this great technology and always close their eyes for the things that cause a little negative effects. |

I just read the article that bitcoin is using from criminals. They just that they hired a gunman or should I say a criminal and pay it through bitcoin. If its this article is true its very alarming . Because it cant be traceable. It helps the criminal to hide its identity. But lets see a positive side of bitcoin.

Criminals use also spoon and forks when they eat - should spoon and forks become illegal? Criminals occasionally kill people driving on them with their cars - should we ban cars? This whole story that criminals use bitcoin is utter bullshit. They use more frequently dollars than Bitcoin, I tell you.

Nowadays criminals are being innovative they are very intelligent super genius in making their bad activities through internet.Terrorist become so powerful that they can manage such as cruel as they can harm innocent people by hacking some devices.Everyone should be allert. |

More often is used it as method of paying to the criminals that they hire to do it. Because bitcoin helps to hide the identity of the mastermind that do that . Based on the article I read it. There will be a positive side that I think they didnt do that. I wish that the article ive read is not true because I see bitcoin helps many people rather then use it for killing.
