It'd be great to pull GPU info similar to GPU-Z and edit it, but radeonvolt only supports reference 5xxx series cards currently. Until the lack of more diverse I2C code is expanded upon, its utility is virtually nil for 6xxx and non-reference cards in general.
Messing with I2C is dangerous, proper code verification is needed to not harm hardware - as the looks of now radeonvolt - supporting only reference 5000 series seems in general not vital for normal users! Back to topic please!

Hey,
Tried it, really good stuff. There are 2 points though that I would like to discuss...
I have 3 cards in one computer, one of these is failing due to overheating in the past. Now, every so often it locks and that's ok, I need to restart the computer, but with cgminer it tries to restart the gpu, create a new clcontext and the whole ati driver crashes, effectively killing all other GPUS along the process. Can this behaviour be switched, i.e. "it's dead, leave it alone".
I also add cards and remove cards more often than I should, and at least on card is a dual GPU where only one core still functions. So I need to disable one GPU, but to do that I need to specify all enabled GPUs instead. How about a -D (or something) switch to negate that particular GPU, instead of specifying all inclusions? Or at the very least having cgminer not die if I specify unused -d indexes (-d0 .. -d7, which is linux's limit, and then remove the ones I want to disable).
Great work!

How to setup a cgminer using xubuntu 11.04 live on a USB
This is an awesome post which, imho, deserves its own thread. Reported to mods allready, nice post but just not useful in here. (how to setup any ubuntu-on-a-pendrive has 100s of howtos in the internets... setting up a miner on pendrives is nothing else than on a normally installed system; although there are some limits with pendrives as you just should never hit apt-get upgrade if it is installed from a live-cd) LOL - well I was gonna add it to ckolivas' readme (already spoke to him) but he's away at the moment so I thought it useful to put it here rather than keep it hidden until he's back But yeah it is specifically for working with cgminer - coz I haven't tried the others or even know if there are other steps required (though the steps needed would probably be minor for the others?)

Looks like there's a new and improved version of the original phatk kernel that outperforms diapolo's version, at least for 5XXX series ... maybe worth integrating into cgminer as an option ? Thread is here (download latest version from first msg): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25135.0;allI'm guessing you didn't read it thoroughly:

Any ETA on the windows binaries getting updated?
I too would like to see the latest version of cgminer for windows. I will offer up a 1 BTC bounty for the build.

Thread is here (download latest version from first msg): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25135.0;allI'm guessing you didn't read it thoroughly: Not to be unpleasant or anything but ... thank you very much, I was the person who orginally asked ckolivas to add Diapolo's version of the phatk kernel to cgminer. You'll also notice that is used the words " of the _original_ version of the phatk kernel", i.e. not Diapolo's version: phatk has released in the last couple of days a version 2.2 which is faster than Diapolo's version (the one currently in cgminer). Just to make absolutely sure you're not confused any further ... Here's the diapolo thread, which is about the current OpenCL kernel present in cgminer: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25135.msg332674#msg332674and here's the thread I was actually talking about: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25135.msg332674#msg332674I just released a new version, which should be equal or even a bit better in terms of 69XX performance . I sent Con infos, that I'm working on a new version and he knows too, that Phateus released a new phatk version. We all want the best so stay tuned. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25860Dia

But yeah I would like to use an official 1.5.3 build, too . Dia

I can compile the latest version, but i am pretty sure no one will trust me so why should i even bother. EDIT: But since i am a nice guy, i've compiled it. http://www.mediafire.com/?r4h0fcuar0mbx9pDownload if you'd like, if you don't trust me, that is not my problem. If you have the guts to try it, and it works, you can send the bounty to 1HmhUozoSUTfpY3CmW5fkQZjPNKZe1eucJ if it works for you . The program works on my platform, but i have no idea how it will behave on other platforms since i use some patchy methods to compile it with MinGW(on windows for windows). There could be an instance where it says 1.2.3 but that is only cause the newest configure.ac fails to detect my OpenCL installation, so i used the old one. Still, the program should work. I've also included a few more DLLs which were reported missing. If you find more missing DLLs, post about it.

The newest kernel is of today, and it is only for Phoenix. In order for it to work with cgminer, some changes are needed as far as i can remember.

I'd like to have 2 GPUs mining in separate pools using just 1 instance.
I run cgminer with -o <http1> -u <u1> -p <pw1> -d 0 -g 1 -o <http2> -u <u2> -p <pw2> -d 1 -g 1 but..
[2011-08-05 04:15:18] Accepted c62a1558 GPU 1 thread 1 pool 1 [2011-08-05 04:15:19] Accepted 4094099e GPU 0 thread 0 pool 0 [2011-08-05 04:15:25] Accepted a8e13c2b GPU 0 thread 0 pool 0 [2011-08-05 04:15:33] Accepted 43ba1969 GPU 1 thread 1 pool 0
What i'd like was for GPU1 to always work on pool 1, and GPU0 to always work on pool 0, but it's not happening.
It this an impossibility, or am i foobaring the command line?

Same here. I was trying 1.5.3 with CPU only option (1.5.1 doesn't support it as it gave error on enumerating devices )

Unable to launch 1.5.3 on windows x64 sp1 too... hm. Rolling back to 1.5.1. It seems to me that the problem is with loading phatk kernel, because it works just fine with poclbm.

It this an impossibility, or am i foobaring the command line? Not possible, but why not keep it simple and just use --load-balance (check --help to confirm that is right)? Should be about 50/50 even if both GPUs work on both pools. Alternatively, why not run two instances? Are you on Windows? If so, run two instance's puddinpop's miner b/c it is the only one I have seen that doesn't use CPU in Windows, and using CPU is expensive whether it is finding shares or not. EDIT: IOW, for your example above: cgminer --load-balance -g 1 -o <http1> -O <u1>:<p1> -o <http2> -O <u2>:<p2>
