Did you really increase the fee for SEPA transfers from 5 EUR to 50 EUR today??
WTF ?! Yes it shows 50€.
Are you serious!?  That is just ridicolous!
Stop that madness! Some months ago it was 0.90€.

I am going towards using them as an exchange now after yesterdays news of a major exchange going down for hours. They just shut their doors where users weren't able to login into their accounts and access their funds.
I think more and more people will go to this exchange now from that episode.

Not so sure whether this one is the right one. Raising the fee for SEPA withdrawals from one day to another to a staggering 50 EUR without any comment means that they either don't want withdrawals (maybe because of liquidity problems) or they simply try to squeeze the hell out of their customers. In any case not really encouraging.

Unfortunately, these are current conditions set by our bank.
We are doing everything possible to roll back the fee for SEPA transfers and kindly ask for understanding.

I never head from any bank raising fees from 0.90 to 3.99 and then to 50€. This is not very believable. Do you have a link from your bank stating those fees?

CEX.IO Introduces Maker-Taker Fee Schedule, Sets Maker Fee to 0%

We are excited to announce that a Maker-Taker fee schedule has been launched on CEX.IO. Within the new model, maker fee is set to 0%. This is a major improvement to encourage even higher liquidity across CEX.IO markets.

What is Maker-Taker?

If we take a closer look at the order execution, we can see that each trade involves two parties: the maker, who places the order in the order book, and the taker, who "takes" or matches the maker's order. In a nutshell, makers create liquidity on the market, and provided that they play a longer game, they are usually rewarded with lower fees than takers. Takers, in their turn, use liquidity from the market by matching makers' orders, which drives market movement and lead to tighter market spread.

How does Maker-Taker Fee System Work on CEX.IO?

The new fee structure on CEX.IO implies 0% trade fee for makers and standard 0.2% fee for takers on all trade pairs. Special trade conditions are discussable for high-volume traders, Verified Plus and Corporate accounts. Shortly, we will improve the Maker-Taker model by making it volume-tiered.

We highly welcome you to take advantage of the new fee schedule. In our turn, we'll do our best to provide the best experience of cryptocurrency trading for you.

Dear users,

As you may know, we’ve got a unique feature on CEX.IO — instant withdrawals to payment cards. With this option, you can withdraw your fiat funds to any VISA/MasterCard instantly at very low fees, starting with $3.80 per withdrawal, and use your funds right away.

We are intending to improve this feature and would like to hear your suggestions on that.

What do you lack? Is the procedure understandable for you? Have you used this feature and how can you describe your experience?

Looking forward to your replies. Let us also know if you have any questions.

Sounds awesome, I'll try this out next time I need transfer some Alts back to fiat and the BTC price is high. I'll comment back once I have used the feature.

I loaded some fiat into my wallet yesterday and the service was very fast and the transfer price seemed lower than last time I used CEX.IO. Good service so far.

I only use CEX.IO for transfers and BTC/USD trading - I used to trade Alts on the exchange - but have move most of my trading elsewhere since you moved away from exchanging Alt coins.

Thanks, for me (and most likely others), I'd certainly use your exchange more if the minimum trading amount was lower and there were more coins to trade. This is probably counter to your current business model and may give you performance issues which is probably why you have these restrictions in place. I like to build a diagonal wall of many buys and sells at around 0.00100000 but can't do this on your exchange - so use it mainly for temp holding and balance transfers.

Even 0.01 BTC orders are very expensive at cex (at least as taker now), because of their rounding behaviour. They round always in their favor. So if you only have to pay 0.010001€ fee for a trade, it will be rounded to 0.02€, so basically double of the fee. I think they also down rounding the btc amount you get.
I calculated this a year ago, the badest result was that you pay 0.7% fee instead of 0.2%.

Bitstamp has simular rounding behaviour. But that is the reason why their minimum trading amount is 5$ / 5€ at bitstamp

Thank you for your input, we will take this issue further to our dev team and see if rounding for smaller orders can be reconsidered.

Unless I'm mistaken, the secure certificate looks fine on my PC. I tried with Chrome (latest version) and didn't see any error messages. I also ran a SSL analysis via a third party and cex.io got top grade https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=cex.io&latest

@Naokia980, unless this was a sporadic issue that is now resolved on cex.io - this could be an issue on your end, you might want to check your system for viruses / rootkit and see if you have any SSL problems on other sites. If you are using a proxy or wireshark that could also be a cause and be careful making transactions until tested.

@starmman thank you for a nice explanation! our certificates can be trusted. The link you have provided is a trustworthy source to get the safety checked.

@Naokia980 this issue sometimes pops up if you are using Firefox, but this solely relates to the way how this browser deals with https. However, you can always recheck in another browser, and you will see that there is no issue.
