150 kh/second, poolmining=true, boinc average daily = 7000+

I was trickling in a pretty regular amount daily but it just seems to have up and died on me.

can anyone explain how poolmining=true works?

maybe a good explanation can be added in the first post... the absence of pool can "reject" some new user with low hashrate...

thanks!

i think that my question is going to be more and more important with che diff that become higher and higher..

nobody?

maybe Rob can answer you nicely. I never use this pool, just tried for a short time.

This is a build in pool and quite different as other traditional pool.

you have to mine/solve a block to get shares, and you get paid over time.

The only benefit of pool mining of gridcoin is that in case the diff. increase fast, you can still get paid if you have shares before.

One weird thing I've found is that if I turn pooling off then the client crashes on launch every time. If I turn it on it runs well. Can't identify a reason yet.

CryptOTC isn't an exchange, I don't handle the transactions that take place unless you request escrow of me.  CryptOTC is an alternative to the google docs method.  You place offers and people can respond to your offers.  The trade that takes place is solely between you and the other party

What are your escrow fees?

I am working on an automated escrow system which would have 0% fees, until then I will have to escrow manually so I would request 1.5%

this suonds really good!

Yeah i'm looking forward to that! Maybe CryptOTC will become Gridcoins primary exchanger.

i really like the speed and (call me crazy) the layout/design of the site. Simple effective functionality.

thx...i try to make an example to verify if i've understood well.

1)i start to mine in pool.
2)after 10hours i found a block, a block with the diff of the entire network
3)after that, i receive the entire block i've found and shares of the next block "the pool" will find?

4)if i stop mining, the next day i restart from 1)?

No you wont get the entire block for yourself. How do you think it could work that way?

The found block goes for the entire pool and you get shares for that block. The share you will get depends on how many blocks you have found for the pool.

and it takes atleast 24 hours to get your max sharerate and maxinum payout to happen. And after you stop you will receive atleast for some time those payout but of course those payout are lowering all the time.

i apologize Sad

anyway.. i try to make some example.

1)i start to mine in pool
2)after, don't know, 10 hours, i find a block. How much is the reward of this block? 150?. Anyways.. since that, i've found only 1 block, so i will get a number of shares very small
3)after that (if i mine for at least 24 hours..in a row?) i will get payout for some times, even if i don't find any block.

Somebody who mine in pool, can tell us how many coins get at day?

It's hard to tell you exactly how many you'll get a day. The pool is based on an algorithm that's dynamically related to the difficulty. As the difficulty goes up, the longer you'll stay in the pool. For example, when difficulty was less than 1 you would stay in the pool for about 1-2 days without finding a block. If you do listminers in the debug console of your Gridcoin client, you'll see a list of all the miners in the pool. Under where it says TimeSpan: is the time in seconds I think that account has left in the pool until he finds another block. As for when you find a block, you still get paid the entire amount I'm pretty sure. So if you found a block and then stopped mining right after you found it for example, your first payment would by tiny, but for the next two days you'll get increasing payments each time the pool finds a block, then it'll peak and decrease down to 0 the next two days and you'll end up with 150 GRC if you're BOINC was 100% when you found the block. At least this is how I understand it.

Interesting. Someone has started a #gridcoin channel on Freenode. They're the only one in it though.

Thats cool were on cryptotc.com, its a good start.

I see the diff is increasing, it looks like the days of easy solo mining are over Smiley.

With scrypt sleep, we should end up being 33+% more efficient than other scrypt coins.  With our new cpumining feature (which is boinc only mining) we will be 100% efficient on that front; and this combination should give us a combined efficiency of 75% or more as a network!

CPUMining is close.  The cpumining pool does foster competition since it sums network total credits and forces our cpu miners to compete with each other; another positive thing for boinc utilization.

Beta test version available for testing phase I of CPU-Only-boinc mining:

 (CPU Mining Progress):
1.1.5.3/7.6/64, Upgrade from the RPC: Yes
Note: Due to a family emergency this version is only available as an "Upgrade" from the rpc

* Note: This release is stable but is designed as a beta release for pre-testing cpu-mining, but I need a few extra beta testers
 for this version
as it is critical we get this right as to not disrupt the current pool mining system.

* Scrypt Sleep Display added to the mining console.  This is for informational purposes only to prepare for the future.
The display shows your leaderboard position; the block suffix; the network sleep level and your current block status.

At this time, the API command is not sent.

* Mining Console dynamic shrink improved for small monitors

* The leaderboard has been improved to never be erased between refreshes so the mission critical code can rely on the sleep indicator.
Note: If a condition ever arises where the sleep level cannot be determined, or the leaderboard is missing the code will assume
it should hash and continue to hash.

* CPUMining:  Aysyr, can you please help test this out?  Id also like to invite a couple more people familiar with pool mining
and cpu mining to help us test this version.
Ensure poolmining=true is set and cpumining=true is set in the config.
Follow the instructions Andrew P set up in the cpu mining thread on cryptocointalk in order to set up CPUMining by adding your
boinc userids into the projects screen and verifying the setup.
Verify at least one project (in Projects) has a positive confirmed credits value (to the right of the text box) when you press Query.
If you are not familiar with the beacons, wait about 20 mins and a .05grc beacon will be sent out of gridcoin as a transaction
to the official project GRC address.
Once this is done, do a "listcpuminers".
The second section of this report is "v1.1".  In that section, your grc address will appear.
Verify the total confirmed credits equal the API credits from the Query in the earlier step.
We now have pool #2 (separate from the GPU pool miners pool #1)
calculating boinc credits based on the total sum of the cpu mining pool divided
by each cpu miners actual avg credits.  This means when we exceed the maximum pool payout level for Pool #2, (ie after
we reach 576 cpu miners), our cpu miners
will have to compete to keep receiving 150 grc per day (very positive!).

Next, the pool will automatically calculate the outstanding owed amount, even if partial payments have been made.
For example, if you are owed 150grc in pool2 (for one day of cpu mining), and paid 50grc @ 10AM,
listcpuminers will reflect an outstanding owed amount of 100grc @ 10:01.
Please see the new fields.

For safety reasons in rolling this new feature out, this version only pays .02GRC per cpu miner per payment.

Also, we are temporarily requiring the cpu mining feature to be tested on GPUs that are Pool Mining (hence the reason up above I ask
to please enable both pool mining and cpumining modes to test this feature)
as standard solo miners are going to ignore the cpu miners until we roll out the
next phase.

This version also stores the 3rd party API check allowing GPU users to start checking CPU users avg credits through API, storing these results in memory for cpu payment preverification.

Aysyr, please let me know if all of this works for you and if the first payments are sent out overnight.

My current test results: I set up 2 projects in Projects, Beacons sent; waiting for my .02grc payment.  Im listed in listcpuminers as owed 150grc.

Do a "listcpuminers" from the rpc to see if your grc address appears after verifying the setup using query credits and following the cpumining setup guide written by Andrew P.

Best Regards,
Rob Halford

if i write listminers rightnow it seem there is 32 miners in the pool. It's seem, also, that the total pyaments is 135.665121. I think that values is associated at the last block found by the pool. There is also a lot of other stats, for example:
"Block Hour" : 20,
"Wallet Hour" : 6,
"Current Hour" : 19
what does that means?? Devs, can you help us?

If i understood right you example, i can mine in pool and wait until i find a block. After that, i can stop mining in pool and for the next 4 days i can mine in solo and get in the worst case 150gridcoin (gained by the pool). Is it that right?

Yes you got it right, you can first find a block, then either continue in the pool forever and get a payment any time another pool miner finds a block, or you can quit poolmining and receive payments for the dynamic lookback window (like u said 4 days etc).

Block Hour and Wallet Hour are reserved for when we get higher difficulty and want to move to daily payments; then we can pay you inside your wallet hour once per day.  Right now you receive 30+ payments per day.

Good luck,Grid

thx for the reply...i've some more questions:

1)how can i find how much time i will get paymest from the pool after i find a block if i stop mining in the pool right after i find my first block? and, in that days, i've always get in total 150gridcoin if i use 100%boinc cpu and have >1000 boinc avg daily credits?

2)this payments are every 24 hours? 12? or what?

3)Grand Total Payments that i read at the botton of listminers is the total gridcoin given for the last block found?

4)when you say that "Right now you receive 30+ payments per day"...what does it mean? that i receive 30gridcoin for everyday i stay in the pool after i found my first block? and...this 30grc are not the same that i ear from my shares in the pool??

I'm sorry...so more questions: but diff is gonna get so high for me Cheesy

Hi Rob!

I've been away so I haven't been responding to the forums however I can see that you have been busy and managed to do a ton of work!!!
I greatly appreciate all what you are doing and wish you and everyone here all the best in the new year!!(I'm 2 weeks late I know:))

Great stuff regarding the CPU Mining!
For everyone interested here is the CPU Mining Tutorial https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1922-cpu-mining-tutorialtopic/

I'm CPU Mining, testing everything out and will report back. At this moment I'm waiting for the beacon to be sent out.
Regarding the payments..once everything is sorted out and enabled will the "outstanding owed amount" be paid or the cpu pool will start again?

Regarding GPU Mining:
I have finally managed to get my hands on a rig for Gridcoin, everything is set up and installed however I do have one issue.
I'm using the internal CG Miner, the instances are added as they should be, the gridcoin.conf has the "rpcallowip=127.0.0.1", "rpcport=9332", the user name, password etc.
The mining starts, CG Miner Statistics show the hash rate etc...however I only receive "Invalid" shares and if I show the CG Miner there's a line that says"no suitable long-poll found for http://127.0.0.1:9332"
and the difficulty is 264k(the difficulty showing in CG Miner I think shouldn't be a problem, right?)

Any help is greatly appreciated,
All the best,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

The no suitable long-poll is normal .don't worry about it. Just make sure HW errors is 0 for all your cards. Also difficulty has risen to almost 5 now at this time. You will need a nice rig. BTW i wanted to ask what is the average daily payout from cpu mining for the time you have been mining ?

and the difficulty is 264k(the difficulty showing in CG Miner I think shouldn't be a problem, right?)

Any help is greatly appreciated,
All the best,
Andrew.
