It's not new algo, MemoryCoin 2.0 has improved Momentum algo from ProtoShares which even more GPU/ASIC resistant:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=355532.msg3979904#msg3979904

Protoshares does not use AES at all, so it's a new algo.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I'm surprised that it use very few RAM. Wasn't it supposed to be the contrary ?

Maybe we have to wait for optimized miner.

That is strange, I added all nodes...it won't download the blockchain. Also my other miner is not updating stats anymore...this coin is weird.

I have a Core2 Quad Q6600, according to Intel's list of CPUs supporting AES-ni, it's not on the list. So I guess this coin is useless for me?

The coin need a non-AES miner.

A performance analysis using the Crypto++ security library showed an increase in throughput from approximately 28.0 cycles per byte to 3.5 cycles per byte with AES/GCM versus a Pentium 4 with no acceleration.

A non-AES is 8 times slower.

exactly 2 hours now with 2,7 hpm  and 0 blocks

taking a bath now  Cheesy

Yeah this seems like a legit waste of time unless you have a NASA CPU. So much for early miners.

Everyone was warned, so everyone gets a fair start.
It sucks, but this is actually better for everyone.

How is it any fairer than other coins? The speed at which you found blocks will not be faster after 48h, afaik it's the block reward that will be higher.
So in any case, the people with the most powerful CPU will still dominate.

I think the difficulty peaked out at block 58 - we're back to a more manageable difficulty now.

I expect we'll have a big increase in difficultly when the block reward start increasing substantially.

This 48 hour period of low rewards is to ensure everyone can mine, can compile etc . . . the real serious mining starts on Tuesday.

What about the non-EAS CPU ?
Half of CPU are not AES-NI !
