I updated my firmware and now they are running much more stable.  My errors have never been very high but lots of fan control issues.  Perhaps flashing and updating your firmware will help you too?

Here is the upgrade firmware link
http://downloads.canaan-creative.com/software/avalon/20131229/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

Anyone having to reboot their machine daily because of errors?

Also how can I access this remotely

My miners three miners with the upgraded were running great after the flash.  This made a big difference with fans speed stability on the factory power supplies.  So I decided to get brave and push them up from 1400 mhz to 1500 mhz.  As Btmine said so not overclock with the factory power supplies, they were honest.  1500 mhz isn't overclocking per the Avalon chip design, but for these factory power supplies it is too much!

They all shut down withing 3 minutes of increasing the frequency.  The factory power supplies are at their max capacity at 1400 mhz.  Btmine knew this and that is the reason for the overclock warning.  There was no permanent damage, I had to give the power supplies about five minutes to cool, reboot and set the configs back to 1400 mhz.  Now all is back to normal had hashing happily again!

When I get my power supplies delivered and installed in the two damaged units I am repairing that came with power supplies, I will post the results on these and what power I can squeeze out of them.  The power supplies I have coming for these are 2 750 watt units and 4 900 watt units.  These are matched pairs of two different brands.  I will post those details with the update too.

Hi I have maybe stupid noob question Smiley but how did you know that you have 5 cold chips ? it is some way to check to boards ?

After the night in the statistics in my mine I have measures form 230GH/s to 140 GH/s, I have to Antminer and there are stable it maybe 2-3% differential.

tnx for advice

If you go to the API Log, you can see how each of the individual miners (groups of chips) are doing.

As for you widely varying hashrate, again, look at your API Log and you'll be able to see what's going on.  If some are hashing at half-rate, then that's the info that 5 chips are cold.

Anyone swap out the fans yet?  Can we just use standard 120mm ones?

On one of the damaged miners, without power supplies I was working today was a nightmare.  I removed the blades reinstalled three capacitors.  Installed two Corsair CX750 power supplies, while reinstalling the blades knocked off two of the three capacitors I replaced!!!!  I said just forget it and finished the installation.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3844176&tab=7&SRCCODE=WEBLET03SHIP&cm_mmc=Email-_-WebletMain-_-WEBLET03SHIP-_-03ship&utm_source=EML&utm_medium=main&utm_campaign=WEBLET03SHIP&cm_lm=dennis@hydencafe.com

It is now up and running, hashing at 223 gh/s at 1400 mhz.  I am happy, after it settles I will try increasing the frequency with these power supplies and see how it goes?  I did discover another problem with this unit, it is missing thermocoupler for temp2, I will have to keep an eye on this!

I will update more later.

These fans move 200+ cfm. Most regular 120mm are under 100. Be careful using new fans.

Also can someone post their cgminer API log? Mtnminer?

Listen the man! Froget buying some computer fans that run 800rpm, your miner wont stay up 120seconds with them.

These units pull 1000w so they are effectively 1kw heaters you cannot cool them with just 2 regular computer fans. Least not in inhouse room temperature of 23-26. I run my miners in warehouse with temp below of 20c and now testing stock psu and it seems to hold the 1500 OC but it gets enough cooling. Also psu works better if not overheating...
*no ATX psu is ment to be treated 100% load stress 24/7 expect them to blow up*

For silent treatment you need the watercooling kit from Aliexpress

2 sample API logs with 1500 Overclock. New firmware 20131229
I get 3.7 and 3.7 HW errors with 1500 OC

Both of these miners have 5 dead chips.

Great news, congratulations.  I am now upto 900-920 gh/s waiting for more power supplies to arrive.  I have one more to get online and three more that need the power supplies upgraded from the factory one.

I am overclocking the one with the new upgraded power supply to 1500 mhz, I tried 1600 mhz but the hashing speed became very unstable.  Is anyone running faster than 1500 mhz, I want to squeeze all I can out of these machines!

I´m using the PSU  that came with the miner, no problem so far but i won´t overclock it, it´s running stable in 1400 that´s good for me

Instead of new PSU i could get one watercooling kit, but anyway this baby as 1 month to rock then its time to go so i will not even buy that

I think that I have problem with measure temp, my fan's have 900-1200 RMPS, and in the www temp show me 36 degree, but when I touch cooler my finger brew, so how may I check the temperature sensor ? where he is located ? I saw that the one grey thin cable is inside.

To change your fan speeds to slower speed use one these settings in the configurations, more options.  depending on how yours is wired, one will give you fastest fan speed and the other the slowest fan speed.

Theres should be two temp readings,  Temp1 in intake air temp  Temp2 is output air temp.  One of my units was missing the Temp2 sensory and only shows the intake air temperature.  I monitor this unit very closely and it seems to be doing fine with an upgraded power supplies and running at 1500 mhz.

If I tried to hold my finger on any of the exhaust grills it would be very uncomfortable, these units blow out a lot of hot air!!!

I am sorry to tell you, you are correct it is not good!  You only have 6 cards out of 16 running on the two blades.  With your fan speeds your unit is probably too hot and throttled down.  You should try putting this command in more options --avalon-fan 20-20

I hope this helps, once the fans start running you will need to give it some time to cool.  maybe upto an hour before it start hashing again at full speed.

Yep, not good at all - looks like you only have 5.5 workers functioning.  If you don't luck out with simply loose connectors, then either you're missing a ton of capacitors or (more likely) you've hit the fuse problem and will need either upgraded fuses or bridges to bypass them (dangerous but I've been running that way OC'd just fine for the last week+ full blast).  If your ribbon cable is torn from shipping, that'd do it, too, but no doubt you would have noticed that when you got the unit.

Wow, I am sorry to hear this additional expense.  What country are you located in have you ever had something imported and delivered by DHL before and paid fees?

This situation does not sound right, did they have an actual DHL invoice proving these charges and fee so you know the driver was not scamming you?

What is the correct fan wiring?

Some units are inverted fan speed, so when temps go high fans shut off, miner shuts off.

Has anyone tried these with older avalon parts? I have some 1.61 controllers and backplanes which i would be interested in using to replace some broken parts I have
