Which are the coins and development teams that will remain standing and united after this? I am sure DRK will be one of those. DRK will endure.
Fantastic point !
And on that note, time for some music while we're waiting for the capsised mothership to right itself and for our hard working leaders to roll out some wicked new tech for Darkcoin.
This band is from Iceland - a country that's partial to the odd financial crash of its own. Despite that they still produce pretty good musicians, so keep the faith !

P.S. While you're listening to that, have a read of Simon Dixon's
great commentary on the current situation which will also cheer you up.
Toknormal and Minotaur26 have been adding some great perspective, and I would like to add a bit more food for thought.
Consider why you are here--just what is your interest in DRK? If your
primary goal is to earn more fiat than you put into DRK, then you are an investor. If you are
primarily here because of what you can do with the coin, and a general philosophical identification with the goals and ideals of the DRK dev. team, you are a true believer. Yes, there is certainly an overlap in each of these categories, and hence my emphasis on
primarily.
Please note that only in the first case is there a clear justification for linking value and price, in fact each of those motivations are different sides of the same coin.
Historically, the value of any commodity is first perceived and set by the second group, and only later by the others. Think of IBM, Xerox, Google, BTC, or even gold and silver. It was only because people used them, that any value was attached to them. As more people saw the utility, demand increased, which drew the attention of investors, who entered with the purpose of making a buck. Their interest and manipulation lead to boom/bust cycles which plague every "market." Supply and demand are
always the factors governing price, but are only coincidentally linked to value where markets are involved.
We are about to witness what happens to products (coins) whose only value is for the first group; namely investors. Where there is no base of utilitarian believers, there is only one destination. DRK, and possibly BTC, and a few of the 2.0 coins are the only ones which have "true" believers, for the simple reason that the others have nothing to believe in but a hope of financial return.
Today we are witnessing the withdrawal of investors. There may be a few TBs who depart in hopes of reentering on more favorable terms, but they will be in the minority. The price may drop by jaw-dropping amounts, but the value for TBs will not change at all. In fact the price/value ration is shifting in directions that allow shallow pocket TBs to actually make some headway that had been impossible due to the manipulations of the investor interests. As one of those shallow pockets, I say "This is wonderful--bring it on!"
While I have not had an opportunity to read next month's newspaper yet, I suspect that current events are making a world in which DRK has a higher fiat price than BTC, more likely. One only need ask what BTC's True Believers really believe in. I think you will find that most would identify with the hope of privacy as the defining value. Most have not yet understood that this is a false promise. As investors move out, and TBs move in, they will be doing their homework investigating their new found coins. Slowly the truth will dawn, and they will be converted. BTC's value will be left to the Wall-street tycoons who will continue their manipulations, with value dependent on the hope of rising price. DRK will rise as investors pursue the TBs, but the nature of DRK will not allow the invasive regulations that Govs. and hence Wall Street require. Hence its ultimate appeal to Corporate/Gov. types will be restricted, but its utility in all other sectors will more than make up for the lack.
Again I ask... Why are you here?
Peace.
