Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Hi,

you can't play with an encrypted wallet really - as every time you perform an action (move/destruct/create hunter), you would need to enter your password.

Best to have an encrypted savings wallet and an unencrypted playing wallet.

Sometimes it stalls, but you should just have to wait for it to carry on

Anybody know why the difficulty in this coin is so high?  Who would mine this coin at such a big loss?

Thanks!

It's merge mined. F2pool aka Discus Fish mines (almost?) all the blocks I think.

Isn't HUC a sha coin?  HUC is not one of the merge mined coins with Bitcoin.  I'm certain of it.  So what are they merge mining it with?

HUC has Dual Algos which are independent of each other.

Sha256 and Scrypt.

Both algos are merge mineable (with bitcoin and with litecoin for example).

you can set which algo in huntercoin.conf :

algo=scrypt
or
algo=sha256

It is not smart to mess with or invest into something you have no clues about.

Donated some coins to development fund yesterday, let's see if that can make a snail move and work faster.  Grin

Thanks - i'll make sure it goes to the right people. Smiley

There's a slight delay on the hardfork rollout while we deal with a technical request. Probably a couple of days.

p.s. in the early days there were around 30-50k hunters on the map if i remember correctly - we reduced this by adding movement fees, hunter cost and introducing disaster.

I read your reply twice and I know more about the fish than most anyone and I know for a fact HUC is not being merge mined with Bitcoin.

Your post says nothing about merge mining with Bitcoin.  So what merge mining are referring to, Scrypts and Sha?  That's not the same thing as i0Coin or iXCoin being literally merge mined with Bitcoin.  This is the answer I'm trying to get.  Thx.

The lead dev just told you like three posts up that it is merge mineable with both bitcoin and litecoin:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=435170.msg11613716#msg11613716

This Irish bitcoin site also mentions how f2pool merge mines huntercoin (and several others):
http://bitcoinsinireland.com/discus-fish-aka-f2pool-bitcoin-mining-pool-review/

Not sure why you're so certain that HUC isn't merge mined...but you're wrong.

I just verified and HunterCoin is not merged mined.  It has no aux pow.

But the difficulty is very high and it is not profitable to mine right now so that does tell you something.

Cheers!

It's both SHA and SCRYPT.

This doesn't take away from the security either.

F2Pool doesn't point all their power at it, so I doubt it will ever be easy to mine.

Much better off mining something else and buying HUC.

yep and fyi windows 64bit unzipper works just fine to unzip files over 4 gb, now older 32 bit unzippers wont Sad still client just sits there and cpu load is 0 with the app running.. I just cant win Sad

Icon

Win64 unzipper SEEMS like it works fine, but I'm telling you, it doesn't. You need to use 7zip (or something else).

Well may hat off to you sir, i did download 7zip and unziped it, loaded up and 3 weeks behind Smiley hopefully it will sync now Smiley

Thanks Smiley

Icon

No problem, I had the same exact issue a while ago, and domob, or snailbrain, or bgb or someone helped me figuring it out. You can kind of tell I think because when you use the built in windows unzipper, then the unzipped files come out to be smaller than the archive that you're extracting them from, but it's not something you would normally consider. I mean, why the fuck can't the windows built in unzipper handle large files? Wtf Balmer?

Apparently they were slightly too drunk/sober when they implemented that feature:
https://xkcd.com/323/

yes i was that one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=435170.msg10623461#msg10623461
was a nasty bug, we should clearly state somewhere about that because it's a problem, as you say, that can go unnoticed if you don't match the size of the expeted size of file while into the zip archive, and the real size of the extracted file

P.S.
I'll update my client in order to update it according to  current game changes, as soon as I'll have time, anyway in time for the future planned fork, when the fork date will be set

I've just launched original betatest qt clients, and i see that actually isn't possible to easy spot where banks are, so I'll use some graphics to show easily where the bank is (maybe a treasure chest) and other useful info like banks life

From some time I'm keeping opinions about the game changes for myself and just support the community with new versions of the client, if people show interest in it

I've to admit that actually I'm not following much the coin, I'm not playing at all from a couple of month and not real improvements on the client because of the coin lack of interest, but i'm leaving my nodes(2) running and the realtime chat server operative (i've spent around 300 € last year and no one used it except me and other 2 or 3 users, i feel a patron Cheesy)

If things will change I'll be probably again more active on the development side of my client (and ecosystem around like phone alerts, etc..)
