Afghanistan register their first success over Bangladesh following the 3 ODI series, however Bangladesh already secure the series by 2-1. Afghanistan chase down the Bangladesh low total without much trouble with 59 balls remaining. The batters of Afghanistan executed by excellent way, especially Rahmanullah Gurbaz who made a brilliant century.
I was not expecting Afghanistan to win a single match but good to hear that they won at last. I think the Bangladesh side got overconfident with the last match otherwise they wouldn't have scored such a low score. Winning by 7 wickets is a big win and Bangladesh may now face some tough competition in the upcoming T20 series from Afghanistan.

Case of Sujon Mahmud is different as it was not about match fixing rather losing his cool on umpire decision. "Bowler Sujon Mahmud has been banned for 10 years after deliberately bowling a series of wides and no-balls in protest at umpiring decisions."
Bangladesh need to revisit there domestic setup and must strengthen it if they really wanna survive in cricket world else they will be history like Zim and kenya.

We can also see that recently Shakib Al Hasan also protected against the umpire decisions on the field. I think even BCB knows that a lot of match-fixing happens in the domestic cricket of Bangladesh but they just simply choose to probably overlook that. I heard a talk that the pipeline of Bangladesh cricket is not so strong and these are the reasons behind it in my opinion. Unless people can stop their greed for money it's not going to improve.

Bangladesh concluded ODI series by winning the very last game. Bangladesh gave a modest target of 193 as there batting collapsed, only Litton Das 86 of 113 balls made it possible to reach 193. Good bowling by Nabi and Rashid together they both took 5 wickets. In reply Afghanistan were steady, Rahmanullah Gurbaz was top scorer with 106 runs.

All that matters is the points table for ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. Right now Bangladesh is on top with 100 points from 15 matches, while Afghanistan is at 4th position with 70 points from 9 matches. A lot of matches are remaining and this is causing some difficulty in getting an accurate picture. Only Ireland and Sri Lanka have completed at least 75% of their scheduled matches. On the other hand, New Zealand has played just 3 matches out of the total 24, and the Netherlands have played just 7.

@galambo, Bangladesh own the last game??
Actually, Bangladesh have lost the last ODI match against Afghanistan. Even though Bangladesh had a good start, at the later part of the innings the batting of Bangladesh just collapsed. The Afghanistan spin bowlers were bowled really well to restrict Bangladesh just within 192 runs.

@Sithara007, Indeed Bangladesh is at the top of the points table but New Zealand and a lot of other teams have lots of matches left so it's really hard to predict anything at the moment in my opinion too.

I have no idea how this works as teams like Australia, Pakistan, SA and NZ are at very bottom of this league table. While teams like Bangladesh, Ireland and Afghanistan are occupying top 5 positions. Only die hard cricket fans like you can elaborate that for us.
The result of Afghanistan Bangladesh test series was very much predictable, as both teams are of very same level. Bangladesh are lucky enough to win this at there home.

^^ It's basically 10 points for each win and five points for each no contest. For each penalty, over years one point is taken away.

As Bangladesh has played 15 matches and won 10 of them, they have 100 points and a lot of the big teams have not played 15 matches so obviously, the win count is also low for them.
So they are below in the points table.

Meanwhile, Ireland has played 18 matches and earned 68 points only so it's very much possible that they will go further down the points table.

I agree with you here as I was also not expecting this from Bangladesh after winning first two ODI's without any serious trouble suddenly they have done few mistakes and lost their last match just Luton and Shakib done some good batting all others gone very cheaply with just 192 runs on board not good target to defend against any team here Afghanistan also done good batting specially by young Rahmanullah Gurbaz 106 runs on 110 balls.

With this lost Bangladesh is still at top, and now their next challenge is against South Africa which is going to be very tough for these both teams even currently South Africa is at 10th spot with just 3 wins and 39 points now this coming series is very important for them if Bangladesh won then surely It's going to be very good for them now after few days we are going to have some good number of matches for this ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League 2020.

If I am not wrong, around 80 points will be enough to secure a spot in the top-8. Ireland is having 68 points right now, and they have 6 matches remaining. If they win two of their remaining matches, then they can ensure direct qualification to the world cup. They have 3 matches remaining against Bangladesh, and another three against New Zealand. It is quite possible to win two matches. On the other hand, the prospect of teams like South Africa and Sri Lanka looks more perilous when compared with Ireland.

This is really good with ICC increasing the Women's World Cup prize money. Slowly more importance is being given to the women's cricket. At times the women's cricket seems to be underrated. Proper funding is the only way through which it is possible to make good teams and players. Women's World Cup is scheduled for tomorrow and runs for a month. Any prediction on the winner, and I believe it is Australia to grab.

Increasing the prize money is a welcome step, but the ICC need to do more. They need to include more teams in the world cup. A competition with 8 teams (where all of them qualified as a result of their ranking and test status) can't be termed as a world cup. They need to expand the tournament to at least 12-14 teams. And another thing is that the qualification criteria is ridiculous. Thailand was on the top of the qualifier tournament points table, but the ICC denied them entry to the world cup saying that their ranking is too low.

I totally agree with Sithara007 here and I too believe that they should have included more teams to make this tournament more exciting. @romero121 indeed Australia is the favourite to win this tournament, but I hope other teams step up and not make it easy for them, besides them I feel England too are the favourites hence it might be one of these two teams that might win it.

That's the first step in promoting women cricket and I would say the prize money is good enough. $1.32 million for winner where boards like BCCI are not willing to spend penny for women leagues is a welcome move from ICC. From winner prediction point of view, NZ are in good form too as they have recently beaten India 4-1 in ODI series. Only Australia, England and NZ have good women teams rest of Boards don't pay much attention on women cricket.

It's basically 10 points for each win and five points for each no contest.

^ As far as I know, the bottom five teams are going to play a qualifying tournament to play in the World Cup and the top 7 teams + the host, India are going to qualify automatically for the world cup.

I really don't know what is a safe amount of points to be in the top 7 because a lot of big teams have lots of matches left to play. I expect a lot of difference to be made later in the points table.

Apart from ICC, boards also need to do something to promote this event in there jurisdictions. Hardly anyone in my country knows that there is women cricket WC going on, though our team is participating in this WC. Like men cricket, there is lack of test playing countries that have teams of WC standard in women cricket also. Its good at least we have 8 teams of women that can play WC, cant expect anything good from ICC and big 3 for cricket.

@romero121, Australia seems to be the favorites as they are the number 1 ranked team for the ICC women's cricket. But I also see England play quite well. I was thinking that India might have a chance but I think recently they are not in the best of form. And obviously, women's cricket is not really popular around the world and does not create that much hype. It doesn't also get the same amount of funding. So it's quite understandable why this happens.

@romero121, I think that some rules which are followed by the ICC are just straight-up stupid because you cannot deny a team to enter in the world cup just because they are too low in the rankings and this has further made me believe that ICC will never want cricket to be a truly global sport. They just want money and not many people around them can do something about it.

I agree with your statement it's 12 edition of world cup with nearly 49 years, and we have never any good marketing or better things from ICC or any relative board about this event and Australia is dominant power in this competition with 6 wins and England is second team with 4 wins and besides them New Zealand is other team who won this event mean it is doing around just very few teams with few others like West Indies and India have chance for qualifying into final.

But here we have no complaint because this is only sports authority which is never been involved in any progress of this game so just because of their policies now we are losing teams in men's cricket so having not good quality and too many teams in women's are not unusual. But if they do some work surely we can have some good number of teams in both events because now with new formats it has some good chance.

First ODI of Women WC is underway at Mount Maunganui b/w New Zealand Women and West Indies Women. WI has given target of 259, Hayley Matthews was the top scorer with 118 runs. In reply, NZ Women need 62 runs in 54 balls with 4 wickets in hands. Right now NZ are in comfortable position as Sophie Devine and Sophie Devine are batting on 102 and 23 runs. WI need to break this partnership if they wanna win this game.

Thailand was on top of Group B with 6 points, but the ICC decided to provide qualification to Bangladesh and Pakistan instead, since Thailand is not a test playing nation and therefore not included in the rankings. If that is the case, then I don't understand the purpose of the whole qualifying tournament. Why can't they just abandon the tournament and promote teams just based on the ranking?

This is absolutely dumb and is no reason for ICC to do that. The purpose of having a qualifying tournament is to see who got the potential to qualify and be there with other teams. And you are absolutely right that if this is the case then just play the teams in the world cup based on rankings. And if this goes on there will be a lot fewer countries playing cricket in the future just like now.

Cricket is mostly played and admired in Asian country, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India have die hearts fans and that is one of the reason of cricket being alive. Super powers have no interest in cricket. USA, Russia, China does not have even the cricket teams. There are other factors of interest for the ICC as well. So I think it would not be just to see one perspective. I am fan of cricket and we have never heard of cricket team of Thailand. So let's chill and watch the play.

Chasing 260 off Dotin's superb bowling, New Zealand suffered their first defeat by 3 runs. Dotin took two wickets in the last over to win by 3 runs against New Zealand। The first game of the World Cup has become really fascinating. It seemed like a final match. There was tension in every over. At some point it seemed like West Indies won.
