Game seems pretty much over for Pakistan. Don't think this middle order can do some wonder here for the team.

Farkar zaman is keeping the hope alive and alone chasing this big total. Don't know if he could cover the line or not but salute to his commitment and struggle to making it so far. I haven't seen such a dedicated innings from any Pakistani player for a while.

Very brave inning indeed and only positive thing for Pakistan in this game, reminds me of Saeed Anwar's 194 inning against India.

Series will go to decider now, which is good thing for this tour.

Fakhar Zaman fell one run short of Saeed Anwar's 194. It was an incredible fightback from Pakistan, but they still lost the game. When Faheem Ashraf was nabbed by Andile Phehlukwayo, they were at 205/7 (38th over). But they finished at 324/9, thanks to that exceptional innings from Fakhar. Anrich Nortje went for more than 6 runs per over, which is very rare for him. Pakistan made one mistake by sending Haris Rauf ahead of Mohammad Hasnain. That probably cost them the match.

I did not expect Pakistan to score over 300 runs when they lost their 7th wicket for 205 runs and Fakhar Zaman played an innings of his career but still ended up short. Phehlukwayo bowled an incredible 47th and 49th over and if not for his tight overs Fakhar Zaman could have taken Pakistan to victory. Now the series is leveled and with the performance Pakistan showcased i am expecting another interesting series.

Fakhar zaman already have broken the record of Saeed Anwar in 2018 where he scored 210 runs. However, the innings of Saeed Anwar against India is still the most memorable one.

Andile Phehlukwayo is very good during the depth overs, and even during the first match he proved that. On top of that Fakhar Zaman looked extremely tired towards the final overs. His hits were not having enough power to clear the boundary and even at that point he had to go for risky singles and doubles (and in the end got himself runout). Anyway, when he was run out 30 runs were needed from 6 balls, and Pakistan had already lost the match.

It is unfortunate to see any team loosing despite such a fantastic innings, but there was no support from other end. This could have been one of the finest chase in Pakistan's cricketing history. The series is leveled, and their is the reason why I'm looking the next ODIs.

Pakistan won't win matches if only one or two individuals are performing. Other players need to give support to those who are playing well. Pakistan would have won yesterday's match if at least one of the middle order batsmen made a half century.

This will disappoint the players, because from one end they give the best to win the match and from the other end no support. From the very first ball to the end Fakhar Zaman have given the best, if some middle order have made a little better performance the match could've come to their hands. This could've given complete satisfaction. Now record has got added, but the outcome of the record hasn't brought anything to the team.

The problem persist in this department and they lost the second match because the middle order batsmen could not give support to Fakhar Zaman. Players such as Danish Aziz and Shadab Khan needs to show some more patience. They should stay in the crease for some time and try to rotate the strike.

Every team is nowadays dependent on 2-3 batsmen. Take the case of England. During their tour of India, they were overdependent on a few batsmen such as Roy, Bairstow and Stokes. Australia is overdependent on Smith and Labuschagne. If they could manage it, the dependence on a few players can be handled in an effective way. Yesterday, I though that the reason why Pakistan lost was that they sent Haris Rauf ahead of Mohammad Hasnain. Rauf made just 1 run from 5 balls, when the required run rate was close to 12 runs per over.

If all the players in the team are not in form, then it is normal for the team to be dependent on a few special players. Look at the Australia and England squads. Every player on the team is very talented and skilled, but they are not in form so the team relies on a few special players. The team will be strong and resilient when all the players in the squad can play well from their own position.

On 7th April we will be having the third and final ODI match between South Africa and Pakistan. The series is tied 1-1 right now and the winner of this match will take the trophy. However, it will be difficult to analyze who is having the momentum right now. Fakhar Zaman and the lower order batsmen put up such a strong fight towards the end, and therefore I would assume that there is a slight edge for Pakistan.

So the South African cricket board gave permission for their players to leave international matches and join the IPL  . I thought they will only join after the conclusion of the series and if that is the case the situation is not that good as these franchise cricket are getting stronger and these players are earning much better revenue and we might see a time when all the teams are struggling from crisis like these where they are not able to field the best teams like West Indies had for a while when their best players always prefer franchise cricket than representing their team.

CSA and BCCI has unwritten and sometime written contract with each others, it applies to every cricketing nation who deal with the BCCI. CSA already decided to release their players, that's why players participated in the auction but this Pakistan tour came out of nowhere, it was unscheduled series because Australia was suppose to visit the South Africa but they declined due to covid then CSA and PCB decided to tour each other just to help each other out and considering T-20 WC is coming and India has hosting rights so i think its a good opportunity to play some pressure game in the IPL.

These are like the best players for South Africa and especially the departure of Nortje is going to severely weaken them. He was the one who gave the South Africans crucial breakthroughs during the first and second ODIs. Also, Rabada is perhaps the best depth bowler South Africa having right now. So I guess the responsibility will fall in to the hands of inexperienced pacers such as Andile Phehlukwayo.

That's perfectly right if 2 - 3 batsmen play a major role while rest of the players also chip in and contribute. But seeing Pakistan batsmen recent batting, it seems that the team is dependent upon only two batsmen and rest of the team does not knw how to bat. If the same performance continues, it look like they will lose the series.
