Yeah, just read this news, surely positive news to get some stakes in Olympic. Now i can see at-least 14-16 teams getting ready for the competition or more in next 2-3 decades. T-20 still looks too long to me, may be T-10 would be right format in Olympic. I'm very much excited about quadrilateral series initiative and really hope that it kicks on in next 2-3 years. That is surely very positive news, we as cricket fans have been looking forward to the inclusion of cricket in the Olympics. Unfortunately. nothing has happened until now. But, Ganguly needs to lay the foundation for this news to become reality as he will not remain as the BCCI president till 2028. Otherwise, this news will go into cricket archives as it did in the past.

I just hope that they will persist with T20, because I don't think that T10 is cricket. For me, T10 has more similarities to baseball, than it has to cricket. And there is still a very good chance that the ICC will not support this move. Previously when Shashank Manohar was the head of the ICC, he was in favor of cricket's inclusion to the Olympics, but the cabal of BCCI-CA-ECB-NZC was against the move. Now ICC is headed by businessman Greg Barclay, who has no interest in spreading the game. So this time also the ICC and the BCCI will be in opposing camps.

ICC officials utilizing their free time and for change doing something good. Reports are coming in that from 2023, 14 teams WC is going to become reality. ICC set to expand men's ODI World Cup to 14-team event" The International Cricket Council (ICC) is to set to expand the scope of the men's 50-Over World Cup from the next cycle. There has been a debate over whether to expand the size to 16 teams but, in all likelihood, the ICC directors will settle for a 14-team format, played thrice before - in 2003, 2011 and 2015. "

Lastly while I understand it shall excite small teams fans, but I don’t think the big 3 teams player’s will like it as they already have a heavy play work load, and adding more games for them against smaller teams won’t excite them at all.

~ This would have never happened if Sharad Pawar or N Srinivasan was in power. When ex-players head the cricket boards (instead of politicians and businessmen) they always give preference to the well-being of the sport, sidelining the other selfish motives. The problem is that 2028 is a long way from now and the decision that are taken now can be changed by that time. Yeah, just read this news, surely positive news to get some stakes in Olympic. T20 is shorter and they can include that because T10 will be hard to predict the outcome. If they play the Olympics i want to wage a bet on the matches but if it is T10 it is going to be a coin toss kind of situation.

I understand that majority of fixture are going to be one sided when playing against weaker teams but its part of the deal if you want to see a cricket adoption in more countries, it would take time but that's a right way along with inclusion in the Olympics .

" Personally I would have preferred 16 or 20 countries, but 14 sounds much better than the current format which involves just 10 teams. But I don't want to comment on this issue before anything is finalized. It is just a suggestion and I am not sure whether the big 3 and their puppet Greg Barclay would agree. I checked EspnCricinfo, and there is no news on this topic. So far it is just Cricbuzz, which is covering this news. I noticed a similar article from Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/sites/tristanlavalette/2021/04/28/support-strengthens-for-a-16-team-cricket-world-cup-while-the-t10-format-gains-steam/?sh=2459713436a6But it just says that there is widespread support from the fans (and not from the ICC).

No doubt in 80s and 90s Pakistan was a better team and statically it is won more matches against India in both ODInand test cricket. The only format they have lost more to India is T20. Players like Javed Miadad are legend, they cannot be replaced. I have not seen any present Pakistani player perform in the same manner as he did.

Talking about one-sided matches, a simple majority of the one-sided matches in the ODI world cup involved two test-playing nations. If you don't want any one-sided matches, then you need to restrict the world cup to a 4-team or 5-team event. Big 3 + New Zealand can be given automatic qualification, and one team can be selected from the remainder. But even then there will be a chance for a one-sided match. And the real reason why ICC reduced the number of teams was due the debacle in 2007, when both India and Pakistan were kicked out by non-test playing nations in the group stage.

I liked the 10 team format that is played last time and it produced some incredible matches and we had some upsets as well and we witnessed one of the best ODI World Cup ever as the teams tied in the end but England was able to hold the World Cup for the first time and India just lost one match and has the best winning percentage in the tournament. Increasing the teams means these strong teams will be facing much weaker teams which means we can have run fest and easy betting options, other than that it will make things interesting if the matches are not competitive.

An international tournament should be with least possible teams to make each and every match more interesting and exciting. This way I too feel like same format of last world cup will be a good to repeat. But, ICC is following different practices like if world cup is taking place in India subcontinent then they do follow a format which is having quarter-final round before finalizing the last 4 teams. But, when world cups is being play in England or in Australia or in South Africa, round robin and that lead to finalize the last 4 teams. Not sure why they do have specialized format when Asian counties host world cup.

If you want to call the tournament as "World Cup", then it should be having teams from all over the world. Last time, out of the 10 teams, 5 were form South Asia region. And also, there is no proper qualification procedure, with 8 out of the 10 teams qualifying directly. Cricket claims to be a global sport, and therefore I would like the world cup to be a real "world" cup rather than a South Asian cup or something like that. Even smaller sports have larger number of teams in their world cups. For example, the 2019 Kabaddi World Cup featured a total of 32 teams. And this was despite the fact that Kabaddi is hardly played in any region other than South Asia. Similarly, the 2019 Rugby World Cup featured a total of 20 teams. Why cricket needs to be so exclusionary?

Anyone watching the ongoing Scotland vs Netherlands match (2nd ODI)? After their win yesterday, Netherlands put up a pathetic display today and were bowled out for 171 (Scott Edwards made 56 and Stephan Myburgh 40). Alasdair Evans picked up 5 wickets for Scotland. Now Scotland are 20/0 after 7 overs, with Kyle Coetzer batting alongside Matthew Cross. I was disappointed with Netherlands because they are part of the 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

@Vishnu.Reang I saw the score on cricbuzz but I haven’t watched the match, and please don’t tell me that you wagered on them because I would never wager on such unpredictable teams. Furthermore don’t get me wrong, but I know very little about them, and just cause they won a single match it doesn’t guarantee them victory in the next immediate fixtures hence you should have been more careful.

There is not much fun to watch the game of those teams. And agree with ‘Juggy777’, placing bets at any of those team is fully unpredictable, because there is nothing much to observe about them. Scotland won the match by 6 wickets. Netherlands isn't a good team to compete with the other teams in ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. BTW, Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka at their homeland on 23rd May. Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman might play in that match. From my view, Bangladesh is favorite on this game and they may get the victory.

Bangladesh fans will be rejoicing as they got their main players back in the team because IPL was put on halt and if Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman was in the team they could have displayed a much more competitive game of cricket than they were able to do and the fans might be furious that they picked IPL over their national team. I am not familiar with the Sri Lankan ODI team and hence i have no idea how the match will go but i give Bangladesh the advantage because the best players are back in the team.

Would have been great if they were playing 2 test match series too. When playing Red ball cricket Bangladesh is tough nut to crack in their own home condition and give very tough fight to any team. Pak and Ind could be exception, otherwise most of the time every other team struggle against them. Bangladesh still fav to win the ODI series but you can expect tough fight in LOI from the Lankan team.

So it would be better to bet on live matches rather than betting beforehand. Sri Lanka is a weak team and i know they have won World Cup in the past and changed limited overs cricket but now a days they are finding it difficult to identify talented youngsters like they used to have in the past. Bangladesh have improved a lot and they have a few players that would trouble any team if they are playing in spin wickets and i believe Bangladesh would have won if the Test matches were played in spin wickets.

Bangladesh is always much stronger in their home ground. They are capable of defeating any team on their own ground. Bangladesh's pitches are much more suitable for spinners. If Sri Lanka manages a spin dependent team then maybe they can play well against Bangladesh. Bangladesh will win the ODI series by any means. I think so. The Test and T20 series will be competitive.
