The Sri Lankan players will be happy with the weather and they might be praying for the weather interruption throughout the series and they finally got when they were struggling, if the delay was before the start of the innings they would have saved themselves from the embarrassment of 132 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.  

The next series is between England and India right.

It looks like today is not their lucky day. Play has resumed at Bristol, with Sri Lanka struggling at 141/8. Dushmantha Chameera and Dasun Shanaka are at the crease and England is trying really hard to get the remaining two wickets (there is a sense of urgency now, as it is expected that there will be more rain interruptions later). When a mediocre bowler like Tom Curran dismantles the Sri Lankan batting lineup, you can imagine how horribly they have performed in this series. England is missing more than half a dozen of their regular players, and still they will end up with a 3-0 series win.

166 all out, not a good score but cannot expect a lot from the tailenders. Anyways this match if gets cancelled England will still win the series. I am not surprised by Srilankan teams performance, they have been struggling to win matches for a long time now.

England need just 167 runs to wins the series 3-0. This is really shameful batting display by Sri Lanka, they run out produced back up players also the fitness level also very low. Sri Lanka could have given England a tough fight, however turn out boring one-sided matches.

Right now they have just 8 points from 8 matches and are behind all the other teams (Ireland and Netherlands have 20 points each). 5 points from this match would mean that they end up with 13 points from 9 matches, which will be enough for them to overtake South Africa and Zimbabwe, and get themselves promoted to the 11th place (both South Africa and Zimbabwe have played only 3 matches each). BTW, Sri Lanka's next ODI series is going to be against India (starting next week).

Don't remember much about recent ODI-T-20 Point system, so nothing much to add but coming back to next WC. I seriously want low ranking team to win the T-20 Tourney,

Keep in mind that BCCI announced 2 different Indian teams, one is already in England for the test series starting from August and other Indian team visiting SL for limited overs cricket (July 13). 

Did you heard about the statement made by former Sri Lankan captain and politician Arjuna Ranatunga? He claims that the BCCI has insulted SLCB by sending a second string team to Sri Lanka.

Since India is playing in England, the team sent to Sri Lanka will be considered as a second string team and he might be worried that if India beats them with a second string team it will be really embracing and considering how Sri Lanka is playing right now, it wont be a competitive series and India is capable of winning that series.

India have fielded a second tier team for the Sri Lanka series. As Sri Lanka is doing now, they will also lose badly to India's second tier team. Despite being a second tier team, this Indian team is quite experienced and talented. And they have the ability to win the series against Sri Lanka.

Looking at the past before Dhoni was appointed as a captain you may never know what BCCI is planning. I am very positive about this team as Kohli is not present. It is a possibility that you may see some of the best cricket by the 2 squad. It has been proven anytime when Kohli is not present as captain Indian tam performs exceptionally better.

The Australian tour is the prime example for the performance by India but in the tour to Sri Lanka Shikhar Dhawan is the captain as he is the senior player in the team and i am not sure about his captaining skills but the team is really strong with Bhuvneshwar Kumar opening the bowling and he should have been in England because of the swing he gets and overall a better team than Sri Lanka.

No i didn't hear this, second string team   poor Indian team, they didn't deserve this lol

Its funny and kinda sad too, i do feel bad for Ranatunga as he led the World Champion team back in the days but it would be better if he wake up from his sleep. His recent statements coming out becaue of frustration IMO, so no one should give much footage to such statements.

Last i remember he was sacked due to corruption charges? Would be better if he and other legends start taking care of cricket in sri lanka instead of involving in politics and corruption.

Its funny and kinda sad too, i do feel bad for Ranatunga as he led the World Champion team back in the days but it would be better if he wake up from his sleep. His recent statements coming out becaue of frustration IMO, so no one should give much footage to such statements.

Last i remember he was sacked due to corruption charges? Would be better if he and other legends start taking care of cricket in sri lanka instead of involving in politics and corruption.

Imagine what happens when the "second string" Indian team whitewashes them 3-0, and that too in their country. In that case, Sri Lanka should not be playing against India, right? Ranatunga seems to be bitter, because his political career ended prematurely and he seems to be going through "na ghar ka, na ghat ka" phase of his life. He tried hard for a position within the SLCB, but was not successful in securing it. BTW, Sri Lanka is now demoted as the weakest test team in Asia, and even Bangladesh and Afghanistan have overtaken them.

It was their lucky day for Sri Lanka as the match was washed out, with that terrible score they were not going to win either way  . So their next series will be against India and the match started this month 13th if i am not wrong and i hope we will have a good contest and hopefully the odds will be good as the odds for England was trash.

The League consists of 36 matches per team. Sri Lanka has played 9 matches, which means that for them 75% of the matches are remaining. So there is a good chance that they will be able to improve their position in the coming months. But at this point, it needs to be remembered that only the top-8 teams will be able to qualify directly for the world cup. Sri Lanka will be able to improve their ranking from the present 11th spot, but the chances that they end up within the top 8 looks very slim for me.


BTW, some drama seems to be going on with Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). Mohammad Azharuddin has been reinstated as the president of HCA by the ombudsman. Earlier, he was suspended for the breach of terms. Looks like the terms are not applicable, if you are politically connected. The curse for BCCI is that corrupt people like Azharuddin are still holding high positions, and there are people who will support him when any step is taken against his corruption.

The ICC Cricket World Cup Super League doesn't consist of 24 matches per team (8 series, with 3 matches each), and not 36 matches as some have posted here. So Sri Lanka has completed 3 out of their 8 series and they have 13 points to their name. Their remaining series are against - India, Afghanistan (both this month), South Africa, Zimbabwe and New Zealand. Last time, the four test nations who had to take part in the world cup qualifiers were - West Indies, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Ireland. Out of them, West Indies is in a relatively comfortable position now.

^^^ I don't know whether Rahul Dravid will find acceptance with Virat Kohli & Co. Someone like Ravi Shastri is perfect for Kohli. A soft-spoken and mild natured individual such as Dravid may find it tough to coach the current Indian team. BTW, India has already qualified for the 2023 World Cup, so they don't have to worry much about getting the points. Also, India is scheduled to play ODI series against weak teams such as Zimbabwe and Afghanistan during this cycle. It should be relatively easy for them to finish among the top 8.

Like every other team India only played a few matches and the rest of the teams that have higher number of games are in the top of the list and there is nothing to worry because there is plenty of time and more tournaments left and India is a strong team and would easily qualify for any World Cup because they generate the most money, even if they loose all the match i doubt India will be left out  .

I have a feeling that Kohli's reign in limited over cricket (not tests) is about to finish in next 1-2 years. May be after T-20 WC this year or may be 2023 ODI WC, he's 32 atm. Shastri's contract is about to finish after T-20 WC and if India lose another ICC tournament then there is high possibility of BCCI not giving him any extension.
