What would happen in game 2? Are they going to play Powell already?

As far as I know, Powell is already out of the conference that's why we should not at least expect his return. Even though it's reported that he is attending practice, he is not 100% capable to return on his best. If Dragons will be activated again next conference, it's good for them not to risk anything and just allow Nicholson to do his job.

I also like the action of both teams idling the ball at the last minute of the game with no such movements and just waiting instead for the final buzzer.

Too bad then, the Bay Area Dragon needs Powell the most in the finals. He is the scoring machine the Dragons need to overcome the hassle defense of Ginebra. I guess they have to make do with whatever Nicholson can bring to the table. It will depend on the coach to adjust their play to fully utilize Nicholson against Ginebra.

Is there any confirmation that the Bay Area Dragons will be back next conference? I read before there was a plan to bring guest teams regularly, but I was not able to follow that news if it will push through. And if they do bring a guest team, it might not be the Dragon. It can be another team. They have to give their best now, they may not have another chance.

One of the reasons why Bay Area loss the game is because they are outrebounded by the Ginebra Kings.

The kind of defense of Ginebra is a championship defense, Bay Area should match that intensity, otherwise they will have no chance against the home team. It's only their import who are playing well, sure they can't win relying on their import heavily unlike the Gin Kings where everyone was contributing most especially on the defensive end.

Imagine this stats, 58 rebounds vs 35 rebounds for Bay Area.

I see the aggressiveness of Ginebra they are fighting for the ball and they are not letting Bay Area to gain that momentum with a kind of defense they are applying to them, I just saw a fb post not sure if it's legit or just a fan made where the coach of Bay area is blaming the refs quoting that there are actual fouls where the ref just let it go for Ginebra, might be a usual reaction if ever it was a fan created post no offense with how the Dragons play.

I hope they do bring back guest teams after FIBA. And maybe they should bring just as strong as the dragons if not stronger. Having a strong guest team brings up the competitiveness of the Local teams. This also exposes the local team to a level of international competition. Maybe this program of the PBA could help our players reach a higher level in international competitions like FIBA or the Olympics.

With how things turn out, I believe PBA will bring guest teams as it's very successful. I mean, people are watching and PBA has become interesting again. ALso, with guess teams, our teams will learn a lot and they will also learn from us which will make us a better team especially in international competition.

Yes, this is the first time I witness that the crowd is really interested in watching the game. The number of attendance in game 1 is just insane, how much more if this series will reach game 7. More money for PBA the better because they probably have been losing money due to lack of interest from the fans, and due to other existing leagues that are already competing with the PBA.

They had already utilize Nicholson, what they need to do is to let their locals contribute to the game like their usual stats during the regular season. The defense of Ginebra is very tight, if they will just rely heavily in 3 point shooting, then I guess I have to conclude that this series won't be a long one.

Is there any confirmation that the Bay Area Dragons will be back next conference? I think they will invite other teams next season, not next conference I believe.

It's only their import who are playing well, sure they can't win relying on their import heavily unlike the Gin Kings where everyone was contributing most especially on the defensive end.

Imagine this stats, 58 rebounds vs 35 rebounds for Bay Area.
Stats don't lie. Their main weapon which is their three points is a bit awful. 13/42 for 30%. In a finals game, it's awful especially if it's one of your main weapons in winning the game.

The intensity is just too much for the Dragons to handle. For them, it's like in NBA where they are facing the home team in a finals game. Well, the Ginebra can be considered a home team Cheesy. They knew it in the eliminations that they will face a crowd like this. It's just it's too much for them and they don't have any answer for how Scottie is playing. His presence in the court greatly affects the Dragons especially on how he is getting offensive rebounds. He's just everywhere.

If only I put a bet yesterday, I won because it's 2.48 ML for the Ginebra IIRC. Game 2 is on the 28th. The question now is, will the Dragons use Powell if he's capable in playing. What will be the adjustments the Dragons will be doing coming into Game 2.

Just for context. 60 out of the 90 teams who won Game 1 in a PBA Finals come out to be victorious. Game 1 is always a huge game because that team will get the momentum.

The way they switch their defense to prevent an open 3 point shot from Bay Area is just impressive. They don't have the height especially the guards but the quickness is there. Ginebra is known for their defense and they have showed a good defense in game 1, so I guess this will be an exciting series as Bay Area will certainly make an adjustment to even the series in game 2.

Whether they will play Powell in game 2 or not, we have no information for now, all we can do is to wait.

Most probably they will have another guest team or Bay Area will stay.
This conference pushes every team up to their limit and do play more especially if they are against Bay Area and many fans love this idea as well. Most probably they have plans already but can’t make any statement yet since their focus is still on the finals and with the up coming FIBA.

You are right, the guards are pretty impressive. Scottie Thompson is everywhere. There is very few times that the dragon finds an open three-point shooter. There is always someone to bother the shot. I wonder how the coach will adjust their play so they will be able to have open shooters or clean lanes for someone to drive into the basket. This will be a tough assignment.

Whether they will play Powell in game 2 or not, we have no information for now, all we can do is to wait.

Someone noted here that Powell is already out for the conference, but we will see if that will change in the future if Nicholson cannot carry the dragons.

There are no odds out yet for game 2, but I am guessing that the dragons will be a slight underdog this time. I am sure the odds will shift because of the outcome of game 1 but I do not know how big the swing will be.

The FIBA scheduling is one of the reasons why it was unclear for now if PBA can able to invite guest teams to the Governor's Cup.

As per the news, according to PBA Chief Marcial, the only agreement is guest teams will be just this conference.

Looks like, no possibility to see guest teams next conference. No time to wrap it up on the preferred schedule. If Bay Area Dragons will consider inviting again, that might be a conflict on their return to Japan in March. PBA's next conference will be on January 22.

Not sure about that, PBA announce it before that they will bring guest teams but for now they need to complete these finals and the upcoming FIBA engagements, might be possible that they are not bringing any updates yet regarding to this, but for sure if they have changes or if they will proceed to that original plan they will give updates.

Same with how I see it, they are more focus with the finals and the upcoming FIBA recently I read some articles about the upcoming next season and PBA governors needs to adjust, Good thing now, the government are interfering with how FIBA players will attend the event unlike before where teams are not willing to give their players to represent our country.

Another concern I guess, ESL will be set on March and Bay Area will be very busy if they will come back and join the league next season, Maybe we will not see any new visiting team for the upcoming season but I'm assuming that after the international competition we might see interest outside the country and we will expect additional teams to participate.

Looking for betting odds in game 2?

It's now available. As usual, Bay Area is still listed as the favorite with a spread of -4 in my bookie.
If you are thinking of betting on Ginebra, this is the best time as they are an underdog.

For best odds, you can choose among the bookies.

Have read in my social media feed that Nicholson won't be playing game 2 (just forgot what site is that) and the Dragons won't be playing without an import so I guess that Powell will take over as the Dragon's import if I'm not mistaken. Though it's good for the Dragons to have Powell back but the downside to it is that they will have a chemistry issue.

Odds are out and the Dragons are still the favorite, even bigger than game one odds.

Maybe if this will be a close game, I think taking the handicap is the best thing to do. My prediction is, it's either Ginebra will win or they will lose by a single digit, probably within the range of the handicap. If Powell will play, then that is good so we will see them better, but I think Brownlee is still the better import and we have the best locals.

Yes we have the good local and good coaching staff as well and I think it also that if ginebra will loss in game two but for sure not a big lead. And like you said it's around 1 digit as we all know that ginebra nowadays improve a lot and also their local players are they have a good lineup so without a doubt they can handle Bay area dragons. But if powell will play in bay area then that's a big struggle from ginebra teams as we all know how powell plays he is a good import .

Dragons adjustments especially from the arc where they are really great, they need that shooting touch to tie the series though I doubt Ginebra will give them the confidence, Coach Tim is also good in anticipating whatever the opponents will bring them, as long as the players are intact with the system that they'll going to run the winning chance of Ginebra still high.

Though from how we see bookies placing the odds seems that they are seeing a good adjustment from the Bay Area, it might be a trap or there's something from bookies system pointing them to place Bay Area as favorite.

I am surprised to see that Ginebra is still the underdog even after they beat the Bay Area Dragons in game 1. It is not a close match and Ginebra looks like a thorn to the Dragons. In their two meetings, Ginebra won both games. But the bookies still see them as an underdog. This is a good odd for Ginebra backers. If Ginebra win again this game, they might become the favorite.

Though from how we see bookies placing the odds seems that they are seeing a good adjustment from the Bay Area, it might be a trap or there's something from bookies system pointing them to place Bay Area as favorite.

Maybe the bookies see that it is hard to sustain the kind of defense that Ginebra is putting on against the Dragons. Maybe they think that the 3-point slump the dragons had last game was just a bad game and Bay Area will be able to redeem themselves today. We will see. Less than hour before the game begins.

Looks like they will not change import in the game later.

As seen in this video, https://www.facebook.com/pbaofficial/videos/1136821820341636/
Nicholson is in short, meaning he will be playing the game.

So I guess let's take the Ginebra ML, that 2.44 should be nice.

Yes, Nicholson will be playing but let's see what will be the adjustment of Bay Area in this game. This is a must-win for them as they don't want to be down 2-0, but you know, as a Ginebra fan, I think Ginebra will take a commanding lead in the series after this game.
