Sadly, we won't be seeing the BAD this season since the team's been disbanded. I'm sure fans would have loved to welcome them, especially after they gave the Ginebra Gin Kings such a tough challenge in their first attempt. But hey, I'm still hoping for some top-notch entertainment, maybe even more than before!

That's a bit of a buzzkill, isn't it? I was kinda hoping they'd make a comeback and redeem themselves. It would've been a win-win for the PBA because BAD really boosted viewership, and those PBA Finals they were in? Man, they brought in some serious dough for the league.

Well, now that the team's been disbanded, I guess they should start scouting for a new team to take up the invite. Just make sure those refs aren't blowing the whistles in favor of the home team, if you catch my drift.

Maybe PBA can find another replacement for the BAD just to continue this kind of season.
Anyway, our Gilas team was home already and many are already celebrating their big wins. Kudos also to our all athletes who fought their hears out just to bring pride and honor to our country, they are all good no matter what the result is, hopefully we will rise stronger in the next Asian games.

I agree, Bay Area really bring another level of entertainment a kind of competition that push the level of competition inside PBA has been challenge, I like the way Gin kings play them, though catching that last statement about how the refs help the home team, that's no secret on it, kind of moving back to Bay Area if only they did not disband, I'm looking to see if how SMB will challenged them, with the healthy JMF and TR7 I'm pretty sure there are lots of fans who are also interested to see them competing, sad to say that they will not come back and maybe PBA governors will find another new challenger as visiting team.

Maybe because we are already tired of watching the game of the normal PBA teams and we don’t see any excitement anymore because of many rumors about it so bringing a new team from abroad makes the league more exciting again. Too bad we will now be seeing them again but let’s see if PBA will invite other foreign team to play in PBA and be part of our basketball culture as well, this is more interesting to watch honestly.

Same sentiment here, with the same teams that playing against each other fans and viewers are no longer that exited knowing that there are two major businesses that dominates the league, sister company against each other or one of the team from MVP and SMC and nothing else, the outcome is very predictable as there are rumors that game can be fix when sister teams are playing against each other.

With the present of Bay Area, people get interested in how the super team will compete and how they will protect the league from the visiting challengers.

I think even before, Bay Area Dragons was not the expected team to play again as a visitor in the PBA. Just an option though.

There are lots of foreign teams that were targeted by the board but never it mentioned any names.

I hope another foreign team will be deployed on the PBA. It brings a good challenge to our locals especially the mid-tier teams.

They were like had the best start on the PBA but then it's just sad to know that they've been disbanded. We need more of these foreign teams to step up the games of the current team of the PBA and we'll not just see them play the same as usual. Many have become fans of the Bay Area Dragons and that's because on how strong they are and tall their players are.

But hey, I'm still hoping for some top-notch entertainment, maybe even more than before!
Maybe there will be another foreign team that's about to come if it's allowed by the commissioners. On the side note, after the Gilas run in the Asian games with gold. There's a good career that's awaiting for Ange Kouame as he's now headed to France just after a day of their win against Jordan, he signed a contract with UB Chartres Metropole. (https://www.rappler.com/sports/gilas-pilipinas/ange-kouame-headed-france-after-helping-philippines-gold-asian-games-2023/)
I think if Kai Sotto just headed the same as his, maybe he'll get more better contracts but anyway he's good also in the B league right now and seems like his team willing to take care of him for a long time.

I remember hearing the buzz that they might be making a comeback, but then the heartbreaking news dropped - turns out the team got disbanded because the management couldn't handle the costs of keeping the squad running. It's a bummer for sure, but maybe it's best to let that team rest in peace since they're no longer around.

But hey, it seems like the PBA might be onto something exciting by bringing in foreign teams to the competition. Not only does it get fans all hyped up, but it's likely raking in some serious dough for the league. I mean, think about it: when a foreign squad ends up in the Finals, especially against Ginebra, you can bet folks are showing up to support, just like when our Gilas team faces off against other foreign teams. Good times for sure!

It is sad to note that visiting team/teams will spend tons of money on hotels plus their salaries, that is the reason why the Bay Area Dragons disbanded but i think PBA is working on bringing other teams to the league as guests as that makes the PBA exciting to watch if the guest is also a strong team like the BAD.

Does anyone know when the PBA resumes?

In terms of hotel expenses, it doesn't seem like a significant cost. The host league could potentially cover all those expenses, except for the players' salaries. That's just my suggestion, considering this is a business venture. If the players can bring in more revenue to the league than the league would spend, it's still a win-win situation for both parties.

So, I don't believe it's solely the issue of player salaries. The bigger concern might be the overall expenses that BAD (or any team) may not be able to offset with fan attendance. After all, fans are the primary reason a team becomes profitable.

Does anyone know when the PBA resumes?

It's November 5 based on the article shared by @Distinctin.

I guess now they'll take a breather and get ready for the PBA comeback. By the way, here's the heads up to when the new season will start.

Quote
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 48 is set to kick off on November 5, 2023 instead of its originally planned start date of October 15. Season 48 commences with the Commissioner's Cup, and there will be no guest team participating in the import-laden conference. This decision follows the East Asia Super League (EASL) announcement that their team, the Bay Area Dragons, has been disbanded after just one season, leaving the original 12 local teams.

But based on the articles that I'd read months ago, hotel expenses and salaries were some of the reasons why they disbanded by you also got a point that the league that they were part of was no longer profitable, I mean the gate attendance is not enough to run the league, just my thought though as I might be wrong in this assumption.

Meanwhile, let us guess who these players that Boss Al Chua said were asking too much money to play for Gilas, two players he said.

I reckon your point carries more weight since you've got it from an article, but for me, it's kinda just a hunch that their issues might run deeper. When they came over to the Philippines and started playing, I'm not really sure about the deal they had, 'cause it's like, way beyond their usual league. They might have been raking in some serious cash from what the league pulled in during that specific conference, though.

Meanwhile, let us guess who these players that Boss Al Chua said were asking too much money to play for Gilas, two players he said.

Is he talking about the players who scored gold in the Asian Games? Or is he referring to the ones who didn't make the cut because of that problem?

Many fans think that its Mike Williams and Maverick Ahanmisi I don't know if I spelled his name right but this is flooded on Podcast of Pow sports. If that's the case then its not good since they are not actually committed for their country but rather they are there trying to earn a lot of money from the team. They shouldn't ask that since they don't prove anything yet on the league.

But they should move on to that discussion since that already happen, they already won the gold medal on last Asian games so its time for them to celebrate and ignore those negative  interference that can spoil the fun. They just focus on players that can provide their service without asking more further conditions  and forget about those people who ask to much from them.

These two have a track record of demanding hefty salaries from their teams, so it wouldn't be shocking if it turned out to be them. However, it's not essential anymore. We've managed to assemble a solid team, and even with limited preparation, we still clinched the gold medal.

Speaking of pay and salaries, I heard that SBP paid Jordan Clarkson $1 million for his participation in the FIBA World Cup. So, if they can afford to shell out that much, I believe our champions deserve a substantial reward, especially Justin Brownlee, who really carried the team and made history.

Yeah, I don't think they'll make it to the team, mainly 'cause they're asking for way too much. And honestly, they're not even the top players in the PBA right now. Just check out how humble JMF and Scottie are - those guys are MVPs. And CJ, too! We could consider adding him since he was a scoring champ. They're all ready to represent the country and aren't pushing for big bucks, knowing the budget isn't huge.

Totally get what you're saying, mate. JC's an NBA player but seeing how Brownlee's been performing, who knows if they'll shell out that $1 million next time. SMB might not be too keen on spending that much, you know how it goes.

Fans pointed them out since they are very demanding regarding on salaries. But maybe Chua should forget about that discussion and movement they prove already that there are guys who's willing to play for the love of country. Then they show good results since they executed their plays very well so they should focus on this guys since they can possibly bring them more championship if they can develop their chemistry together. Talking about other things can just spoil the fun so better they celebrate their championship without taking care of other nonsense thing.

Not surprising if SBP pays Clarkson that amount since he's NBA star and he deserves that. Its just he is been mismanaged by coach and result didn't end up very well to them. If Gilas on world cup is just been handled by Tim Cone maybe we can see a different result and they maybe got a high to placed on more higher standings.

I also think that one of the two players is Mikey Williams as we all know that this player is pricey, his entry to TNT Katropa was not an easy one due to money issue as he think he deserves more than that of a rookie cap in the PBA. I don't know about Ahamnisi because he has not proven anything yet he ask for large amount of money just to play for Gilas, that is unjustifiable.

Meanwhile per PBA.ph in less than three days we will have a game so the opening might be on Friday.

I think Mikey might be the one but with Ahanmisi might not be possible as he just signed with Ginebra and for me that bond between him and SMC managements will not be compromised if he's one of those two, Al Francis is very smart and he will not allow that propaganda for his own men, just saying'.

Whoever it is, maybe it's just part of the plan where the destiny brings home the gold, and whoever they are they just missed their names in the history of the first ever gold.

Honestly speaking there's no problems in every player they pick to play in international games such as worldcup cause we all know that our players are skilled enough to compete but the main problem here is that the coaching staff which they they choose those popular players but less on playing out naturalize players. Like for example in the world cup Justin brownlee is the one of those player who paracticing hard to represent our country but in the end  Justin was replaced by Jordan Clarkson which is not good for me. And yes we can't deny the fact that Jordan Clarkson is very good in basketball but  the chemistry of other players is a must. But it's already happened all we need is to move on and celebrate our victory.

Meanwhile per PBA.ph in less than three days we will have a game so the opening might be on Friday.

Was that the season's kickoff, perhaps during the preseason? I recently read some news about Brownlee departing for the USA on vacation, with plans to return once the PBA resumes. This has left me a bit confused about whether that day truly signifies the official beginning of the new season.
