Sorry was not much active here can some explain what was the main reason for them to do a hard fork of the network? and is everything is alright right now? When is the hard fork scheduled for?

Main reason? I was already writing here about changes. I'll quote it once again.

1. Introducing increased flip rewards
2. Flip reporting system improvement
3. Flip lottery improvement
4. Last 10 epochs results to calculate the total score
5. Invitations distribution improvement
6. Restricting the stake withdrawal address
7. Gas model for transaction fees
8. Peering improvement

No, that will be in a future fork. This is still the beginning, it is a new idea of a project so there will need to be many improvements as the time goes on and more problems arrive.

Idena Flip school recently closed (https://t.me/idenaflipschool).

Now there is this option:
1 - log In to the website https://idena.codes/ with a fully synchronized version.

2 - Complete the challenge by the decision of the flips: https://idena.codes/#FlipChallenge.

3 - Fill out the form: https://forms.gle/oLAnq7g4n72uunPG8.

After completing these steps successfully, you will be contacted and your address will be activated.

No, the maximum that will need to be done is to update the version of the node and the client. But just in case, it's better to keep an eye on updates.

I got my first mining penalty last night. Im not even sure what happened, when I woke up I checked and my vps node was off. I checked my logs and I did not see anything to cause it. I'm going to create a cronjob to avoid this in the future.

Hi buddy, to avoid this problem in the future you can add your node to the telegram bot ( @idna_node_watcher_Bot ) and it will alert you when your node is inactive for more than 15min, this way you avoid the penalty.

I have a cronjob in all my nodes to restart the server every 24 hours, it has never given me problems, I hope it helps you...
restart the computer at 11AM every day "0 11   * * *    /sbin/shutdown -r +5"

You can also use realRioda's website notifier on idena.site to avoid downtime. But it works only if you are awake and near your PC since you have under 1h to restart the node.

This means that when you kill your identity the amount of coins in stake could be sent to any address such as the address of the exchange. But as it is not a "normal" transaction these coins do not reach the exchange, now it is limited to your own address only.

hmm this "feature" was implemented for some time, I know I killed my identity once and the only address I could send the coins was mine.

I'm looking forward to the next validation and to see the increase in rewards, for us here, the validation is very important because it's additional coins and it's a guaranty that we can continue to mine, people should continue mining there will come a time when mining rewards will be lesser than what we are getting today.
