Hi All, just received 2 SP20E's from Spondoolies.

One of the units has the following on the ASIC stats page.
LOOP[1] ON TO:0
2: disabled (Asic all engines fail BIST)

When I first power up the unit the stats all look fine, about 1 minute or so after hashing begins, I hear the fan spin down and then back up and this message is there. Hash rate also drops to about 1400Ghs from 1650 at the same time. Running at max setting or underclocked dosent't change anything. Have also tried 2 different power supplies (seasonic 1250 gold and EVGA 1300 G2) that are running without issue on the other SP20. Current settings are:

Fan = 80
Start volts all .73
Max volts .735
Max PSU all 275

These are my first Spondoolies, have been mining with Antminer for about a year so forgive my lack of knowledge on the Spondoolies side.

I've reached out to Spondoolies support but no response so far. Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

you are driving at 120 mph in a kia forte

fan = 80
volts = .69
max volts = .695
max psu all 250

get back with results   also read this thread

I have 2 SP20s, for one of them I can not acces the settings page anymore,
My router assiged the following ip adresees : 192.168.1.99 and 192.168.1.100
I can access just fine the one ending with 99
But I can not acces the one with 100 anymore saying that the web page is not available when I try accessing it from my browser

Both of them are up and mining, they have the pool settings stored, I just can't access one of them's menu

this are the ip's asigned by the router: http://gyazo.com/1dcfb737298ce594e928aa99131f1dac

Any ideeas? thank you !

Do it answers to ping? ("ping 192.168.1.100" command at another computer.)
Did you tried to power it off and on?

In general this error usually means that the DC2DC does not provide power to the ASIC. Usually this is a result of rough shipment. Please contact Barbara (support@) for further help.

Got my first SP20  Smiley

It seems like a lot of fun. i am trying some settings I have seen around, but chips seems to throttle back at 80 fan speed.
I have seen low wattage setting, but was thinking to get to 1.5Th at 1000W (I am currently setting it up on evga 1300)
Is this doable or should I just shoot for 730-800W and 1.35-1.4TH?

Are we seeing a Happy Hanukkah sale today?  Shocked
Happy Holidays to everyone at SP Tech!

That would be very nice!
I have 6 If I get a few more it would enough for a Menorah!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menorah_(Hanukkah)

and they did it a sale 659 usd !!!!!!

http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/holiday-special-sp20-jackson-shipping-from-stock

I've been looking at diving into BTC mining for a while now. I have rigs for altcoins but not BTC. With these SP20s in my home, where I pay $0.10 / KWH can I profit at today's price? Or do I look at this as an investment, hoping the price of BTC rises long term?

OR

Should I stop looking at the price of BTC in USD and just worry about amassing BTC?

Vague I know, but want to know what you guys think.

Thanks.

At 10c electric, you are looking at 6.6 months to breakeven if the difficulty never rises (it may be static at the moment but lots of new hardware will be out before long), and that doesn't include the PSU if you need to buy one.

Use that as a starting point for YOUR decision as there will be plenty of varying opinions of what to do.

Thank you. I'm going to get one and let it mine, hoping for future payback on the price rise. I could just buy 3 BTC and sit on them but that is boring for me.

I've experimented with hacking the sp20 to fan speeds below those supported. When the device isn't overclocked (0.66v max) it seems to run fine at 20% fanspeed without overheating despite ambient temps today being in the high 20s. Noise is always an issue and this helps a little.

could you pm instructions or a guideline for this?

@ spondoolies-tech

a 20%  and a 30% option are really good for this gear if you can put these in  a new firmware please do so.

I have 6 units now  all with low clocks.  I would go for as many as eight if I could do lower fan's via your settings page.

My lower clocked machine are around 620 watts
 1189 gh

all low settings

this runs on a seasonic 760 watt plat psu and it is pleading with you for a 20 or 30 % fan firmware upgrade

I second this request. Fan setting of 20 and 30 would be great.
EDIT: apparently this is already done in version .33 of the firmware; Spond is ahead of us  Wink

Maybe a naive question.
What is stable working voltage (UL?) or vlt 1 or vlt2?
The suggestion is to set the starting voltage to no more than 10mv below the stable voltage.

My two SP20's are in a my small warehouse with people and phones in it.  They pleasantly run all day with a fan speed of 30 with similar under-clock settings to what you have shared, Philip (and thank you for that!).  I haven't tried 20 because I've been content with 30.  They purr along at 1330 and 1375, the 1375 on less power too - just a more efficient machine.  The past few days I have cranked the power and fans up when we leave for the day, and back down to the above when we return in the morning.  The over-clock versus under-clock is moot in the recent hashing economy.

However, speaking of over versus under clocking, I did some maths the weekend before last, when BTC was at $375 USD.  I figured then, that from a profit standpoint, if your power costs were below $0.135 kw/h over-clocking made more money.  At $0.14 kw/h, and above, under-clocking was more profitable.  If I recall, I used 936 kw per month for OC, and 518 kw per month for UC.

The SP20's dropped in price today because I bought three more yesterday.  You're welcome.  Wink
