I have that question as well. How much of their talk is just talk?

The real question is, If they don't have the power in all the smaller ways, do they really have the nukes? If they have the nukes, but don't have the small stuff, they might have to use the nukes sooner rather than later.

It is interesting that channels are talking about corruption and mismanagement. Did actually RF citizens not know what has been pretty much the cancer of their armies for the last many decades? Even more so noticeable when your sea based units are useless in the conflict, you planes are pretty much on land due to strong defences (and lack of proper pilots tbh) and all you have is the ground troops which surely have a much higher level of corruption.

But overall, when the strategy is absurdly wrong from the political perspective, there is very little that can be done in the field to correct it.

It is interesting that channels are talking about corruption and mismanagement. Did actually RF citizens not know what has been pretty much the cancer of their armies for the last many decades? Even more so noticeable when your sea based units are useless in the conflict, you planes are pretty much on land due to strong defences (and lack of proper pilots tbh) and all you have is the ground troops which surely have a much higher level of corruption.

But overall, when the strategy is absurdly wrong from the political perspective, there is very little that can be done in the field to correct it.

Amazingly, everyone in Russia seems to know that the government is full of thieves and not to be trusted, but all of these issues can only be fixed by the benevolent tsar (don't try to ask a Russian patriot why the tsar hasn't done so in 23 years).

As for TG channels, there is a lot of talk about all sorts of issues in the military but also a lot of naiveté along the same lines of "fixing" it. Armata is very close to being ready, and a batch of T-90s has been produced, and they even invented guided bombs... with no real attempt to reconcile all that with the losses in the war and whether this supposed industry ramp-up comes close to filling those losses.

Then Putin comes on TV and talks about sending a warship around the world with some wunderwaffe on board. Can Biden do that? Check and mate.

Now Russia has captured the Ukrainian town of Soledar in the eastern region of Donetsk. This includes the salt mines where Ukrainian forces have stockpiled loads of armaments. The fighting isn't over, but the "Wagner Group" is claiming that it did the work, to the chagrin of Russian forces as a whole.

But that said, Prigozhin’s emphasis that it was “only Wagner” forces that captured the region and no regular forces managed any success in Soledar has led to consternation and anger among the Russian military chain of command.

Also, they promoted Aleksandr Lapin to cheff of Ground Forces. I just remind that Lapin got lot of hate in Russia after retreat from Lyman

I still remember Izium, Popasna... all cauldrons full of Ukrainians and definitive steps in victory... until the Ukrainian army pressed a little bit back and off your go, all running. Wagner's are no different - they run or die when shelled and when they can no longer get supplies because their depots are being HIMARSed. This is like a few months ago, the RF will "strategically retreat" from minimal territory because "they never really wanted it".

BTW I wonder what type of rights assist irregular troops. If not part of the RF army nor their structure, I guess they are just terrorists?

Looks to me as though Russia plans to integrate into the federation all the land they've gained control of to date, and a certain amount more, and a high priority strategic objective in such a case would be to not alienate the local populations.  Ergo, the contracts with Wagner PMC would be very clear on this, and if the organization is well run the behavior of the personnel would be reflective of it.  I pay pretty close attention and have yet to see convincing evidence of widespread 'misbehavior' on the part of the Wagner mercs toward civilians.  Just the opposite in fact...although they can be pretty hard on their own in instances where an individual deviates from expectations.

Speaking of the sledgehammer incident, it seems almost certain that the Ukroids simply drugged and sold the defector back to Wagner.  Exactly what I would expect from the ZioNazis.  I wonder how much they got for him?  Of course I also wonder if the whole thing wasn't scripted.

I'm fine with Russia or any other nation taking control/responsibility/integration any territory if that's what the residents of the territory wish to be so.  That is clearly the case in the former (and relatively briefly) areas of Ukraine that constitute 99% of what Russia is sitting on as I type this.
