well its been months and no updates are u going to release the source

What on earth would they do that for? Even though the open source miner is now faster, it would be stupid to open source theirs and allow any optimizations missing from the open source miner to be added.

Ok, Let's see:

Version 4 was posted on March 29, 2014 and primeGPU last post was July 29, 2014 and no promises being done to improve his miner!

The fact and my point is:

I don't think your question is related as the open source (version 1) is available and none for current version:

http://primegpu.com/

After three months miner's owner not being active, it makes sense for members asking updates.

Importantly even if source is fast enough and since not all members know about compiling via linus or win32-64, it seems to suggest you know something!
At this point Wolf0, why don't you take a look at source and try to compile it accordingly and test it?

I have the same with 2 7970. Dev fee version. GPU load = 0. Calatyst 14.3. Mining time stays 0 forever.

I used to have same problems with catalyst 14.9 and solved this using first GPU Device.

Number of GPU device always start with "0"

If you have one GPU device then use -d 0
Having two GPU then use -d 0,1

You might want updating catalyst 14.9 but don't download and install omega file revision file and all miners crash GPU!

My point is - optimizations can be different. The optimizations in this one may be different from the one in the open source miner, although the open source one is faster. Sharing the code to this one would therefore be dumb, because it may improve the open source miner.

Ok, by improving it's open source code by using regardless which optimizations isn't dumb at all as any developer would appreciate feedbacks from member's test!

I would think open source code is there for that reason! Why wouldn't think so?

Because it's smarter to use the ideas from the open source miner, and make your own better, rather than give everyone a better miner so diff goes up and everyone loses.

Wolf's just being a hardcore capitalist. Trade secrets should remain in the hands of whoever developed them...

Meanwhile he's probably developing his own version of the miner to trade behind the scenes and therefore he doesn't want any cross information sharing from his competition (that would result in improvements, which is bad for what he's selling). Based on his posts here, he's probably selling a Primecoin kernel. Everything Wolf posts has a level of personal gain associated with it and not something the normal person can pay for. If it's not flaunting his kernels so he can drive up his behind the scene sales, it's forcing you to look at furry porn because he gets off to that. Not the furry porn itself, but forcing you to look at it.

You could probably single handedly blame the current sorry state of AMD mining on him and his friend Djm, as they have been selling out to the highest bidders (which are the biggest miners). It seems like when you venture outside the normal realm of AMD GPUs for x11 and their variants, things start looking more rosy (which is outside their area of expertise).

You know, it's funny, he at one point complained about his kernels getting leaked because it was his livelihood... Yet here he is, yet again, fucking over everyone else that tries to make money off mining.

Yawn. I'm fucking people over because I'm not giving them shit for free. FYI, I'm not selling an XPM kernel, I'm busy with three others. I'm just posting the obvious train of thought that makes sense. As for forcing people to see my screenshots, they're labeled NSFW and linked instead of inlined - not taking extra time because some people can't deal with the backgrounds I feel like seeing.

Point taken Wolf0, you make it clear your train of thought!
On my previous posted about code sharing, I clearly explain about testers to improved miner so creator can improve their products well obviously you not opened criticism feedback towards your product but this doesn't mean others don't!

As to your comment labelling others as NSFW is argumentative as not all people know their stuff.
There no need making code sharing as federal case!

For someone who is semi-competent, I'm sure you don't know how to take a window screen shot or a cropped one.

Yeah and not giving them away for free, while selling to the highest bidder fucks over all the little miners. You know how you care about your own well being. You're fucking everyone else over that doesn't have a six figure income (putting aside mining) and that's about 95% of the people who started mining.

It'd be different if there were no improvements and besides the developers, no one would be using superior kernels - but it's not. You have your own little blackmarket operating in the background that screws over all the small miners. Which is much worse then having higher power costs and something I didn't know was happening when I started advocating for no miner improvements to save on power. It doesn't. It just means you get screwed over from behind without knowing it. Because YOU don't keep your private kernels private, you sell them to large miners which have the biggest influence on the block chains.

If you consider trolling someone warning the other person when they're getting a knife slipped in their back, then I guess I am. It's not hard to see either as you're a dedicated furry that plays your role (a wolf or more accurately in this case a fox).

All of the above is true. I'm sure you guys remember the 45BTC thread where he was going to sell his kernels and consequently they got leaked as he was being extremely greedy? He's admitted multiple times he sells them to people in the background, for those who have enough money and I assure you that's not your average joe with 100 GPUs or 20.

Putting all of the above aside, he's in this thread making sure these two kernels don't meet so he has less competition and he can sell his product for a higher price. This is common anti-competitive practices companies do.

You act as if I'm obligated to NOT sell my work to the highest bidder. And you're correct - I do sell them to huge farmers. You don't like that? Well, that's just too damned bad, because I've got the right to. I'm not in this thread to make sure the miners don't meet - I'm here to explain the train of thought behind not releasing the source. If I wanted to make sure the miners don't meet, I wouldn't be here, I'd be trying to bribe the dev, don't you think? That sounds like something you would think I'd do, with your strange, twisted view of everything.

You can sell your work all you want, you can profit however you want, that includes being a drug dealer or a hit man. That doesn't mean people will like you for doing it nor is it morally right.

What makes this all the worse is you act like a poor little developer that barely survives off of donations and then you, along with your friend Djm, rant and rave about how you don't get enough donations all the while you're raking in money in the background through private trades. You're disgusting dude.

It'd be different if you acted remotely professional and were up front about things, but you aren't... you never have been up till now when you're pretty sure your cover is blown. Believe it or not, professional includes not posting furry porn all over your workplace, unless you sell furry porn.

I'm here to explain the train of thought behind not releasing the source.

They aren't your kernels to release or not to. You're making sure they don't once again with under handed tactics and exclaiming somehow things will be better off while you sell your kernels in the background, which are better because the publicly available version isn't. This is sick.

I think it would be cool to learn how to manipulate code and make my own miners.  For now, I've mostly gotten out of GPU mining but I still like to tinker with code.  Any recommendations if I want to learn miner software production and contribute in some way?

If you already know C, OpenCL documentation is a good place to start for AMD, as well as AMD's optimization manuals.

I don't know, some people actually took out loans to purchase GPU miners and you're definitely deciding who can and can't be profitable. Destroying peoples livelihoods isn't something you're fond of, is it? I seem to remember you talking about yourself at one point.

You've never been up front about your business. That's why you never had a store or even a thread up till recently where you wanted even more to the tune of 45BTC. Even now, where is your thread advertising your wears? Where is your storefront? Oh that's right...

If too many people know, it pisses off your big clientele. For one person to be really profitable, other people can't. That's the way difficulty works, especially considering it's GPUs and we're all using the same hardware.

I don't have a storefront because I usually sell to large miners - I don't need constant PMs from people with 50 GPUs who think they have a farm. I've always told people this is what I do - I don't hide it. Some people are at a disadvantage because they can't code well or afford someone who can. That's called capitalism.

So not only do you decide who can and can't be profitable based on whether they have the money, but also based on some sort of 'too good for the common miner' high ground? 50 GPU miners aren't enough even if they have the money? You willing obfuscate what you do and do back room trades until someone leaks the kernels because you're being a greedy SoB.

You and I'm sure there are a couple others floating around behind the scenes have single handedly wrecked GPU mining and turned it into ASIC mining. You wont even make a storefront so people can kinda get a idea of what's happening here and make informed decisions. This is disgusting.

No one should ever be slapping a 'ASIC resistant' on their coins with this stuff floating around in the background. This really needs to gain more light.

I don't think I agree how you labelled those who can't code as capitalism!
Usually capitalism are those refusing sharing their's code (the project owners that is) isn't not?
