Lets say I want to buy bitcoins today and store them for 20 years to use a my retirement fund.  Live comfortably, but don't need to buy a yacht or anything.  How many do you think I would need to buy?

if you'll buy 10 bitcoins, total 4000$, and will hold them for 20 years, and if we will be lucky of course, you should have around 4 000 000$ or even more,  i think that price after 20years will be huge because of halvings, and of course buyers/sellers
I thought it would never happen $400k/bitcoin it was too expensive for bitcoin even if you say it in 20 years to come. evn I would ensure up to 50 years to come prices will not reach $400k/BTC
a reasonable price for bitcoin in the 20 years to come is around $1000-$2000
so you can calculate how bitcoin what you need

I would like to have at least 100 coins cuz i think it will be enough

The measurement of how many coins needed will determine based on 1 coins value.

So if the value stayed still 20 years worst case scenario youre looking at 41,000 lol.

You need ~1 million dollars i think for living with all goods and needs but bitcoins is unpredictable it can be worthless for times and you will be poor instantly.
bitcoin prices are very volatile so we can not predict the price is certainly in 20 years to come. it is even possible bitcoin prices can be very low. important that we collect bitcoin. as much as we can

Its volatile to a certain extent.

It really varies on your approach, if you lose the price loss can something make up the difference in that time. If so then you should be good regardless.

But most of the trend is always been bullish.

That is very right. Should know first how much a bitcoin is before taking that big risk of retirement. Better have a lot than have a few for emergency purposes.

Worst than that scenario is how we can accumulate 100 bitcoin before 20 years came in..If we are just starting right now and the price won't have a big drop, which I think won't drop very low, I think we will have a hard time buying 100 bitcoins...

I think there is no benchmark for enough or not quite all come from feelings. 100 BTC could be significant if the price reached more than $ 3,000 or more. but maybe you have not become rich just by 100 BTC

look at the total of 100 is a lot to me and also when seen from the present day.

I am still trying to get a value above 100 and it was very difficult. Bitcoin is increasingly difficult to obtain.

Earning 100 bitcoin in a 20years time is really simple. At the same time when one earns few bitcoin the remaining grows automatically.

It is not that simple to earn bitcoin directly. I mean your employer pay you bitcoin directly. it will take years.

Earning it through a job is hard but earning it faster is possible also. Buying a lot of it and letting it grow. That will take it faster. Just a year can do 1 bitcoin or more with this method.

it looks simple now, but each year the price will increase and the amount of effort you need to do to earn just 1 bitcoin will most likely increase with at least 20 to 50% per year. especially with the upcoming block halving and the block halving after that. if any one with enough funds want to have at least 100 bitcoins, then right now is the best time to get them. the longer you wait, the higher the price will be.

Well the concept of bitcoin of reduce reward is to force bitcoin to go up,there is no sure that will happen, soo well holding any ammount now and dont sell at the first jump ,may turn into a retirement opportunity in around 5 -10 years, something you would need to wait or 25 years or 35 years to get retired.

if you're willing to work hard 100 BTC in 20 years is an easy thing you know. means you have to generate 5 BTC annually or 0.4 btc per month it is quite easy if you want to try and work hard. there are many ways you can do
and hope bitcoin prices reached a high point in the 20 years to come

by halving the number of bitcoin will occur naturally reduced the demand of bitcoin in the market will be nore impact to the price of bitcoin
but if halving continue for centuries certainly bitcoin will be exhausted?
is it possible happen? in what year did it happen?

Yeah that is what I am thinking also. JUst the word "halving" says it all. If bitcoin that is mined if halved then mining it would be really harder and that is when it becomes more precious just like gold now which is getting an upper price because it is getting harder to get some.

not so much, it may be true that right now you can earn them easily, but in 20 years they value will hit the sky, and it will be much more difficult to acquire even 1 bitcoin, let alone 100

I think it all depends on the rate and bitcoin price at the time. 20 years to come? like what the state of the current bitcoin? whether advancing or disappear?
if bitcoin prices are very high. 100 BTC would be enough
