Appreciate smooth is having some family issues at the moment, but I'm really starting to regret putting my money into a platform where it seems that there is only 1 developer as a point of failure.

You have "dev" in your nick - why don't you stop complaining and dev it up?

Money put into Aeon should be considered lost and forgotten about, a tribute to advanced blockchain development as a whole.

I mean, don't like go losing your private key or anything, but do stop thinking of Aeon as some investment in which you might eventually see a return.  Aeon is something you own to be a part of, and ideally lend your talents to.

Thanks sammy, was having trouble syncing on a computer that seems to refuse to use swap, kept getting stuck around 400k. Hoping a bootstrap can work around it...

Hello,  Ciao AEON coiners ... I'm newbie in AEON!
This my AEON story
I ve mined some AEONS using minergate gui and deposit it in Cryptopia wallet when workig ... then they closed the market and I can't  exchange it. So I have installed the last version of core and seems work fine! Needed only few hours to sync ! I cannot understand why nor Bittrex nor Cryptopia,  upgraded the core and the wallet and make it working again. Meanwhile i tried to mine some coins on aeon.kryptopool.com and cryptonight-lite algo. Somthing in git address seem not workig well ... i got somthing working with my AMD RX 460 gpu and now i' mining up to 2000 H/s. YES i like testing ... testing first and economics after ... Now i've got some coins and now how can i exchange it ?

Why on earth are you quoting a post from January?

Latest version is 0.9.8.0 and the link is https://github.com/aeonix/aeon/releases

i think that we live perhaps an historic moment for cryptos' adoption; it would be important that smooth could come back and fix the bittrex situation...

Hi

I've been following Aeon for a while and now decided to sync a wallet to which i'll mine (i mined before with minergate but had 2/3 lower hash rate than with the wolf miner).

I created a wallet (win 64; aeon 9.8.0) - all ok
Then i started Aeond which kept saying 'Synchronization started' but kept saying i'm 8xx 000 blocks behind.
After some time i noticed it several times said im 700k or 600k blocks behind but then went back to 800k blocks behind. (underlined in the picture below with red)

http://https://ibb.co/dqqKWF
(sorry, i didn't know how to attach a picture)

Did i do something wrong?

Some people have reported that "stuck at 400" bug but I have no idea how to reproduce it. I've synced countless nodes and never seen it. I do see a short pause at 400 because blocks are processed in groups of 200 and at that point in the chain blocks were fairly large.

Also, if someone is running a pool, please join IRC (or if there is a slack with an IRC gateway that is okay) and try to connect with me. I'd like to test a release candidate with pool mining before pushing it out.

According to http://chainradar.com/aeon/blocks the block height currently is 807278, so when you were syncing the nodes with a lower block number likely weren't fully synced themselves. in short, no you did not do anything wrong.. is normal behavior

Good job moving away from minergate!

I don't use Slack, but there's are already Slack and Telegram relay bots in the #aeon Freenode IRC channel. I think maybe they're run by needmoney90 who also runs them for Monero channels.

OK, didn't see much action there and Slack tends to be the common medium in which most collaborators communicate. If anything it is there if people want to use it Smiley
