yes but where is the source code, if I wanted to inspect it or compile it myself code source is on the github (aeonix/aeon repo, click on the "code" tab) iamsmooth/aeon repo is where smooth pushes his work, experimentation or tests before merging. [edit] e.g. pruning is available only in iamsmooth

Yours is the latest i noticed that an error occured when compiling in ubuntu 16.10 (gcc6.2). i looked for a fix and then i pushed it on my repo because it can be usefull to someone else. it's not an official improvement of the code. aeonix/aeon repo is working good on ubuntu LTS (16.04)

What is the latest client?
I looked at the aenix github and the iamsmooth github, but I'm still not sure
Would anyone else be interested more if BBR & AEON became one?

How might it happen? If BBR decouples from its current pegged price (is it coupled with BTC, XMR or other?) then it would likely create an abandon ship environment where holders are looking for a similar investment to bulwark against catastrophic loss--it makes more sense for bbr holders to just bite the bullet and reinvest than for a complicated merger to stop the bleeding--the leverage isn't there to make this appealing to another coin and the market will create positive effects for the other coin without them having to lift a finger. Quite honestly. I'm unwilling to merge or sell my aeons, unless it is for some cause that will help aeon long term.

Hello guys,
a got the problem with latest 0.9.6.0 daemon.
I tried to solo mine.
When I connected from the wallet and start mining - no problems. But when I started mine directly inside daemon - it always use 1 thread regardless threads=8 parameter.
I tried both - command line options and typed commands inside daemon - the same shit.
So I need your help.

You are probably typing "threads=8". Replace with just "8", eg, in the wallet: start_mining 8, or in the daemon: start_mining ADDRESS 8

Cross-posting from reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Aeon/comments/5qconr/could_aeon_be_positioned_as_a_better_bitcoin/I've been catching up lately on all things AEON, and was reading about the decision to continue to allow mixin 0 transactions on the network. It got me thinking... what if all AEON transactions were mixin 0? Sure, losing ring signatures sacrifices unlinkability, but think about what you get in return:
Smaller transactions than Bitcoin Better pruning (than XMR) thanks to not having to store tx hashes and key images Stealth addresses would still be used, so better "default" privacy than Bitcoin The rest of the Monero spoils sans ring sigs (dynamic block size, fair PoW, miner subsidy, Ed25519)
The result is basically a more private, scalable, better version of Bitcoin. Maybe this is more appropriate as its own fork, but I figured XMR is already the "privacy priority" powerhouse of crypto. Why not position AEON as an ultra lightweight Bitcoin killer?

It's an interesting idea, but does Bitcoin not have (or will have sometime) stealth addresses? If it does one day, then AEON wouldn't have much of an advantage over Bitcoin. Scalability, yes, but I'm sure Bitcoin will solve that too.

Scalability, yes, but I'm sure Bitcoin will solve that too. It is possible to do Stealth Addresses on Bitcoin but they are not widely used. I think the now-defunct Dark Wallet project supported them. However, even then there is a big difference between supporting it optionally and using it for all transfers. When used for all transfers it means that the frequently reused addresses that help with analyzing the Bitcoin blockchain won't exist, so overall blockchain analysis would be less effective than Bitcoin, but still more effective than a coin also using ring sigs.

I've ported my offline address generator to Aeon: https://github.com/moneromooo-monero/monero-wallet-generator/tree/aeonIt's not yet on the master branch, because it's not well tested yet, so make sure you test you can recover the wallet with simplewallet before sending anything to it, just in case. Reports welcome, and I'll merge it to master if nobody reports problems As usual, don't forget to verify the GPG signature, with my public key being in the Monero tree. See the second part of the wallet generator page for instructions.

Now there is an easy method for non tech savvy users (not wanting to follow/adapt for AEON the extensive XMR cold storage guides) to create cold storage AEON wallets.

Okay, so if we're going to get Aeon relisted on Poloniex it has to have a website. Any recent progress in that area?
Many people have contacted them over the last few months--so they are aware. I ask every few weeks, just because you never know--I've also asked if someone wants to add an aeon depository on cryptokingdom as this would likely take coins off the market, as it did with XMR (currently ~1% of all monero are on cryptokingdom) and introduce a new set of investors to aeon. I like the cryptokingdom idea for AEON

Two 3 points on that: 1. With CK, literally the King of the game, has approved it, so no hurdles other than building it. 2. With CK, no transaction fees (within the game--the depository address creator/maintainer may wish to enact fess on deposits/withdrawals--doubtfully as high as shapeshift, but something to consider on the plus/minus side of the debate). 3. You can create derivatives in CK, and AFAIK, no one is offering derivatives on Aeon anytime soon, least of all shapeshift, and when someone does, they won't be doing it with 0 fees.
