It see with mixed emotions all the metal people on youtube getting all excited patting themselves on the back for having called bottoms and breakouts and talking about insane rallys to come in gold and silver. They seem absolutely certain that "this is it" and it will rocket to unknown new highs within the year and well beyond next year. Are these people being a bit emotional and getting carried away?

They remind me of myself when bitcoin is in a rally: I get all excited and sell all my fiat, thinking it'll go to the moon and telling everybody,... yet it never really does. The fundamentals are sound, but that alone doesn't merit a crazy exponential rally, which I'm secretly hoping for (officialy I want slow steady healthy increase)

Getting excited over price is one thing - watching the movement occurring in the background is another. The same applies to Bitcoin - price action has been all over the place, but sentiment toward the system has been gradually approaching wider acceptance. Price eventually follows reality - no matter how long it might take.

I admit my bitcoin performed much better when i bough at 8.8 and sold at 15. But my gold holdings are doing quite well; not collapsing.
its not over.

Absolutely. The $3k level isn't far off, and that's just a stepping stone. Smiley

I agree it's really too early to celebrate. And to be honnest early celebrations like that worry me.
What's interesting is that there's been for example Bill Murphy from gata quoting "insider" sources doing bold (crazy ? stupid ?) predictions, like 100% upside in 90 days.  (link). And from what I know he's not a "gold to the moon tomorrow" kind of analyst.
Time will tell I guess.

The fed will announce QE3 soon, though they might make up a new name for it. Gold prices will start a new run up to new highs over the next year.

its not over.

You've been waiting a year for gold to collapse.  I've been waiting a year for it to start it's next leg up.  No joy for either of us yet.  I can wait another year (or actually many) and I suppose you can also since unless you continue to hold a lot of short possitions, it's just a matter of the satisfaction of having a correct prediction and decent analytics abilities.  Actually, if people have paid you for your advice, I suppose that it's also a matter of giving your clients their moneys-worth in your case as well.

Not surprisingly, the weekly data shows a screaming buy.

Anything in the $8 range is a discount.

Yeah, well. That guy is being quoted and interviewed all over the place because his source got the August breakout right. I wonder how many guys had sources that predicted something else. Distributed Nostradamus Wink
