The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

Shocked  Where's cypherdoc?

Lol!

i've been hanging out in the mining forums gearing up for the Avalon and BFL arrivals as well as concentrating on the newsletter.

most of my work in the Spec Forum is now accomplished in the Big Picture.  remember that the first 2 threads i ever made here, other than in the Economics Forum, were at the great depression bottom at the end of 2011 to counteract all the FUD:

Warning: How many of you Bears have ever been a victim of a Short Squeeze?

How many of you have been Zhoutonged?

we now have a new legion of followers who are more than capable of leading the revolution.

What is the best place to buy gold? I checked out Coinabul but the prices seem a little steep. Also, I would prefer a seller in EU.

I figured this is the place to ask, and it could be helpful for newbies who are following this thread.

Hong Kong & Singapore with cash in hand. Barring that, I'd work with Gold Bullion International to avoid pitfalls in what is becoming a treacherous market. Especially of interest is the physical dividend program.

As for prices now, it's only thanks to monumental dealer efforts that the premiums haven't blown out yet.

I like http://www.kronwitter-muenzen.de , although the website is only viewable in German.  I don't have any affiliation with the site, but I believe they are trustworthy (If not [I haven't done any hole drilling or chemical tests on my PMs], then I would rather hear about it here than to buy more from them  Smiley ).

Same here. I wouldn't qualify myself as a bug (I did sold some PM to buy bitcoin in december, lucky timing  Smiley), but I still have some PM for diversification purpose (helps me sleep better).
I still think gold is not collapsing but correcting, and I also think bitcoin is not up, it's exploding. Still confident I'll win this 1BTC bet Wink

That's where I bought most of my silver, so I also think they are trustworthy (though they sucked at communication). The other seller I used was Geiger Edelmetalle, and they were perfect. Germany is better for silver because it's (afaik) the lowest vat in the Schengen zone on silver.
And I bought & sold gold from a french company, ccopera.com

Thank you all, they all look very competitive. However I'd very much prefer to buy with bitcoins, as long as trust and exchange rate is comparable to those you mentioned. Any recommendations?

thanks for the links, lebastiol. Was looking for someone reputable to sell me one of these in case gold drops more: http://www.kronwitter-muenzen.de/2001-1-mark-goldmark-p-133.html

Actually the lowest VAT is in Estonia. There is a really great pricing on Silver Maple Leafs here:

It's nice you can sell w/o VAT, but your price (0.75 BTC/oz * 36.81 EUR/BTC = 27.6 EUR/oz) is still €2 higher than the price by "kronwitter" mentioned above (23.925 EUR/oz * 1.07 (VAT) = 25.60 EUR/oz), even though that include 7% VAT. Excluding their VAT you're 15% above kronwitter.

If you plan on supporting fiat economy, kronwitter is probably a good choice Smiley I don't have time to think about euro going up or down...

Do you know any business that sells for BTC.73125000 or less? I can match any competition  Grin

Bitcoin collapsing. Litecoin UP.

Cheesy

lol...

Litecoin has now caught up to bitcoin's run-up. Remember when btc tripled, but ltc hadn't budged? It just made the whole move in a week.

I don't know how I feel about litcoin... By design it's max value is 0.25btc. But I'd discount that AT LEAST 10-fold since there can't really be two valuable crypto-currencies unless they have very different properties, which ltc and btc obviously don't. So that's 0.025btc/ltc. It's at 0.0093btc now. And 10x may be generous. 50x might be more accurate.

Bitcoin is the first monetary system to credibly offer perfect information to all economic participants.

Well, it is a way to buy PMs with bitcoin in Europe, but they are more expensive than the traditional alternatives.

The nice thing about Litecoin gaining some traction is that it's like a lifeboat. It functions almost exactly the same as Bitcoin, only on a smaller scale, so there's no need to take the arguably greater risk of converting to fiat for arbitrage.

Oddly enough, Litecoin should gain some credibility when GPU miners shift over to it precisely because it's so similar. In doing so, it should also act as a stabilizing asset pool to Bitcoin volatility. Bitcoin's silver, indeed.

Edit: And if Ripple does what it proposes, the major Bitcoin exchanges may have much smaller roles to play; they'll be more of a gateway between fiat and cryptocurrencies, with the latter being easily traded around the Ripple network without ever needing to leave.
