Yeah, I don't see any spreads between paper and physical. At least on eBay. So far.
its all in his mind. FWIW, I see something. In french stores, the premium on the most liquid gold coin (20F Napoléon) was 18% on Friday. I don't know if it's something general, I'm not used to track premiums. But anyway, still quite impressive.

What would be the effect of gold and silver crash on bitcoin? I suspect many bitcoiners are also gold/silver bugs. Would they sell bitcoin to cover their loss in PM? Or they would move their investment from PM to BTC?

I can't keep up with the pace of the PM crash! Oh come on now. It's all right there in the letter. I know I know, it's just breathtaking. I expected it to temporarily stop at a little bit below $1500 and slowly declines, I didn't know the "lights out" is literal. Seems that my baby needs to be born with bitcoin spoon in his/her mouth.

I sold 21oz of gold today, but would have sold anyway. The money will be used to pay trading debts from last week (i.e. has already been spent to buy bitcoins at sub-$100). I am short term bearish on paper and physical gold, bearish on paper silver and bullish on physical silver.

Maybe sell BTC to buy PM, or buy PM with BTC if possible. If BTC were at $150 or so I would seriously consider doing that myself.

Nah, the PM market is gargantuan compared to Bitcoin. If this were the case Bitcoin would be valued much, much higher.

When gold was near $1800 I spent a few weeks studying it and I felt it should be closer to $1200. Everyone said I was insane and it would never stop rising. Just like on here when I said the bubble would crash in late March. I never make predictions I do not feel very certain of. Since the late 90s I have not made a bad decision so far and called at least 7 bubble including BTC and Gold. I love seeing gold at $1373. Will my friends listen to me next time? Doubtful, I'm sure they will just say I'm crazy again. Emotional investing is like flushing money down the toilet. At least that might be less painful!

what are the premiums doing? metal shortage in sight?
Metal shortages are already here. From Keiser: ABN AMRO issued a letter to their gold contract customers of failure of delivery, and that instead the bank will pay account holders in a paper currency equivalent to the current spot value of the metal. Voila counter party risk. If you have a piece of paper you don’t have anything, “if you don’t hold it, you don’t own it”. It is all about physical possession. Of course, that is not to say that gold should not be going down because the USD is headed higher, probably to around 87-90ish, as there is a lot more demand for it. Lots of countries have taken out USD denominated debt so they need them to pay interest.
