Too easy to just edit that. Have to keep paper back ups in case something goes wrong.

Exactly... how would one go about manipulating such information? I bet it'd involve burning of paper at some point Wink

"Oh, this burnt paper is not a problem, we have all the data in our computer server things anyway, right, IT-nerd who's got a new Ferrari?"

Good question. I came across a guy in need of money with some silver. I don't know of any shops that sell it. Gold country.

Yeah. I was able to sell some Eagles and Maples down Yaowarat a few years ago without a problem though. Gold is gold but not easy to find other than 23k

Can someone explain this to me? Since when is actual gold needed to hold the price down?

How can there be a fire in a vault 5 levels below street?

Why?

WTF?

so there's no connection with the metal spike up? What's the reason for the gold/silver spike, then?

Many reasons, some more obvious than others.

COMEX and LBMA inventory depletion;
scandal exposing banks as fraudulently delaying base metal and other commodity delivery, masking actual supply/demand dynamics;
ongoing US failure in the Middle East;
China and Russia bleeding US dry economically;
eastern precious metal exchanges opening to trade primarily physical metal, not paper;
persistent fiscal mismanagement;
chronic unemployment;
HNW exodus from contemporary stores of wealth;
the list goes on...

What would the be the chance these open outcry markets for Bitcoins happening (now in NYC (weekly), L.A. (monthly), San Diego (weekly), San Francisco (weekly), Miami (first one this week), Toronto (first one next week), Berlin (first one this week), and more likely to come) ... would bring an opportunity to expand into bullion and e-bullion sales as well?   (e.g., for DYM shares through Ripple trades, or for physical (e.g., Eagles) or for junk silver?).  Here are links to the individual events:

Strong. Trading between crypto and precious metals is akin to trading the gold-silver ratio, remaining outside of the fiat system. There will be opportunities everywhere, and not just in crypto/PM exchange.

i doubt this would expand to any significant degree.  after all, we've all pointed out the problems of transporting bullion around due to the weight.

unless someone had pre-arranged a sale of a bullion bar, you won't get much more than sales of a coin or two between individuals.  even then, the risk of theft is higher than trading BTC where a password is required.
