Honestly that poll was a joke. There were very likely not 42 legitimate stakeholders at the time. More like 10-20 plus BCN-controlled sock puppets.

Does a voter in the poll have to agree with you to be considered a "legitimate stakeholder?"   Tongue

No, I'm giving my opinion that there was ballot stuffing of vastly larger magnitude than honest participation. I can't prove it, but that is my opinion.

Furthermore, I never supported (nor support) the idea of a bitcointalk "poll" as a meaningful method of actual voting.

The poll was created by TFT who almost certainly was a BCN shill or associated in some manner with the BCN/CN scam operation.

Regardless of the poll numbers, a rough consensus (that the possible benefits of slower emission are outweighed by the 100% certain loss of trust resulting from breaking the social contract) did emerge from the discussion on that and other threads, which is why the emission wasn't changed.

And the debate did die down for a few months, until a little bit of mean reversion caused a whale with delusions of grandeur to freak out and demand Something Be DoneTM.

The MEW is the organ of voting exactly for the reason that here people like you who have no stake at all in the game (except perhaps on the other side of the table) can speak however much you want and be taken (about) as seriously as any anonymous person with a bit longer forum history.

It is called "put up or shut up principle"  Grin

I own Moneros and have directly donated a larger % of my funds to the development team than you have (albeit fewer of them)

So with all due respect - you have an arrogant condescending approach that does nothing but burn bridges.

I have "put up" - just not thru your good ole boys club.

Don't make the mistake of thinking you or MEW speaks for all of us.

That is not acceptable, and is especially objectionable because the (trivial) impetus for such an action is a mere couple months of bear market.

That can't really be the impetus because it was brought up over a month ago, if not earlier, and at that time there was no two-month bear market. There was arguably a month of bear market, or fluctuations within the normal trading range, depending on how you characterize the price movement in the 300-400k range.

Can someone explain what has changed?  Aren't we still 12 or 13 on market cap just like always?

I would like to see proof of how many moneros are actually represented by MEW before it is assumed they have a big enough majority to actually speak for Momero holders

Thank you for the altrustic donations!  This free rider appreciates them, while hoping that in the future XMR will be sustained via mechanisms which for provide capture of previous externalities/subsidies.

I think RP is funny, and give him the benefit of the doubt that his "bridge burning" is tongue in cheek puckishness.  Besides, I'm the last person who can honestly object to a "arrogant condescending approach."   Cheesy

But be careful, because smooth might send you a stern PM insisting you Leave RP Alonetm regardless of how obviously important the interplay between his (demonstrably unstable) personality and Monero Meta have become!   Tongue

I think your first post was in Main Monero thread, not here in Speculations. I think soon after your post someone wrote there that he sent you some coins. So just go there and read last days posts, are not that many it seems this one got more popular lately.

most likely short term speculators dumping because BTC is rising, they don't want to miss out the gains if it breaks out 400.

if BTC goes higher that is only good for XMR in the long run as it will bring more confidence to the entire crypto market.

Just tie it in to the relevant topic, as I suggested in the moderator comment. Nobody would believe that your assessment of an individual personality generally is relevant to Monero Speculation. Tie it in (as you did here a little) or take is elsewhere.

I said the same thing to aminorex and deleted several posts a while back, until it was tied in directly with the topic, and then let it proceed (for which I got some flak, but you can't please everyone)

I was hoping XMR would track alongside BTC in this rally. Instead it's heading in the opposite direction.

Yeah I received a few donations that day mainly from 1-5 XMR. Then the next morning (after that person posted) I got a huge surprise. They obviously must want to remain anon because I can't imagine they haven't seen my posts. So I will be using the XMR to bring some of my bitcoin friends into the XMR game. Maybe have a giveaway or two in the altcoin marketplace.

As far as the XMR/BTC exchange is slipping (now 1.7mBTC) the USD cost is about the same $0.72 per XMR. If you recall during the last bitcoin rally in 2013 altcoins initially slipped and then once bitcoin price was skyrocketing then people moved their BTC into altcoin markets. I think XMR is holding up pretty well right now in terms of USD/XMR with all of this bitcoin price increase.

lyth0s, you should check out the game Crypto Kingdom: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=819073.0

Currently it is the only thing you can spend XMR on directly. Right now the game is only playable on BCT thread via Google spreadsheet database, but it should be playable online in the next few weeks according to schedule.

I have actually looked into it. Unfortunately I don't play paper fantasy games. If it is ever developed into an HTML5 web browser game or a stand alone app, then count me in!

XMR/BTC ratio is dropping yes, but the USD/XMR ratio is rather constant at $0.73/XMR. Once BTC gets a huge rally and people "feel" wealthy again they will start pouring their BTC into XMR/LTC/XCP and maybe some DOGE, so be ready for that pump.

Once XMR gets a GUI wallet and functioning DB (the memory usage is just too high right now for cheap PC's) that'll help the XMR/BTC ratio a lot. What will help XMR hugely is when people start encountering privacy issues from big brother with BTC, then we can expect a MUCH higher XMR/BTC ratio.

With the privacy advantages of XMR, I expect XMR to take quite a large market share from BTC when people need to hide their digital assets or when countries (IE china) try to stop flight of capital.

With the decrease in XMR/BTC ratio today, I'm actually going to move some more of my btc (that I just made off margin long on BTC) into some more XMR and XCP.

I'm not expecting handouts, but I do admire the XMR Love:

I concur.

I think the missing component missing in price speculation in pricing is total supply = some amount of selling pressure.  In other words - some percentage of hodlers are going to have a reason to sell (say it's 3%).  3% of 6,000,000 coins to sell is much more selling pressure than daily inflation rates.

As supply increases selling pressure from total available supply increases.

Who knows - maybe DB + GUI will bump it back up to the 300's.  I've got an LTCgear payout that I consistently throw at XMR & BBR.  Besides Ethereum it's really the only crypto that interests me.

I am not naming any names, but in Crypto Kingdom, there is a certain player who has done nothing in the game and is making 0.55 XMR on average per day just by existing. (The others are making more or much more of course Smiley )

I saw that you are auctioning off land and gold reserves currently. Are those people making XMR or gold? And what is there to do so far in the game (I've only seen the auctions).

In terms of collecting stone etc, how is that done and what limits are there? I've never played a paper RPG before so 100% new to that.

To all the Anon donations thank you VERY MUCH! I also bought some more off bter around 1.6 mBTC/XMR which I think is a steal. I've now purchased the minimum amount of XMR I wish to hold, so that is pretty exciting Cheesy

USD/XMR price has slipped by $.10 during this BTC rally so far.

To the other poster talking about selling pressure, this is true as it is for bitcoin. You have to wait for the early adopter to sell a lot of their coins off and you end up with a more "fair" distribution of coins among people, which then also increases the price of each coin due to limited supply and continuing demand.

I messaged Smooth about me working on improving the monero.cc website, but no response yet (I assume he is now sleeping for night). But if anyone knows who is in charge of the website let me know or have them send me a PM. It's pretty easy to make it look better and good looks instills more confidence in the general public.
