a masive dump on polo, whole orderbook down to 25 btc!!

Thing is, it wasn't just XMR, it was most every coin that Polo has that MintPal also had.

FREE MONEY1 Bitcoin for Silver and Gold NewLibertyDollar.com and now BITCOIN SPECIE (silver 1 ozt) shows value by QR
Bulk premiums as low as .0012 BTC "BETTER, MORE COLLECTIBLE, AND CHEAPER THAN SILVER EAGLES" 1Free of Government
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

There's so many more interesting and novel coins out there with organic movements behind them, why get stuck on a midlevel cryptonote fork?

Such as?

Gotta wonder if that was a mintpal dump

That is interesting, in other words, not giving any thieves a place to dump a lot of coins. I really hope the Mintpal thing works out and we get our coins back.

Emphasis mine. Isn't the former likely done with the latters?

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's.
This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

I can't wait for a true + popular decentralized exchange.  So sick of the scammers in crypto.  If you want a trustworthy exchange - use Btc-e which is probably run by the Russian mafia & doesn't support your preferred altcoin.

*Grumbles*  So sorry for those of you who had your coins on MP.  When is someone going to start putting hits out on people?  The problem with the crypto world is that it's anarchy except that when people commit crimes against you - they are usually both outside of the reach of traditional justice.  & outside of the reach of anarchic justice due to the fact that you'll be inside the reach of traditional justice if you carry out anarchic justice.

I don't have the details but they were hacked a while back for an amount of significance and repaid all their customers.  Obviously since then security has been improved.

I didn't know about that. Good to know!

Is there an easy way of generating a Monero paper wallet?

Yes. Generate a new wallet, write down the 24 seed words on a piece of paper.

I really wonder if the "owners" of Mintpal are dumping our XMR on Poloniex. I had quite a few coins there that I hope to get back but I wonder if they were already sold.
Awfully suspicious for the website to be down after a spontaneous upgrade for a week, and then they file bankruptcy. They say we have till the end of the month to withdraw funds.
Gox 2.0?

You can get them back... Looks like TrueCryptonaire will sell them to a stronger hand...

The hand need to be really strong since I am not a dumper.

Management of MintPal is being handed off to another entity, Moopay LTD does not own the exchange.

Something doesn't add up here.

Dude come on. There's a difference between being a slave of the New World Order and being the New World Order. I would expect someone coming from the UK to have a better grasp of language.

I'm not coming from the UK. The previous poster was a slave to Monero, I just don't think Monero is the new world order. What's so hard to understand about that?

The fact that you're predicting the doom of all coins kinda invalidates your argument.

Sorry to hear about your (what must be) substantial losses. I'm not predicting doom for _all_ coins, just most, including yours.

Guess you guys must be thrilled at all the "cheap monero" thats available to you now.

We're not really comparing XMR notes with a BBR bagholder, are we?

I hope you're not talking to me. I wouldn't touch BBR for one of the main reasons I don't like Monero -- its got a silly name. Boolberry? No thanks.

You remind me of some bum I saw out on the street the other day. He started off by insulting me, then he said I was a "slave of the New World Order".

Shortly after he asked if I could "lend him some money" so he could get a sandwich.

Really? That's weird. I don't think you guys are the new world order at all.

But anyways... speculation... speculation...

If XMR falls to 2 and holds, _then_ I would say it might be a good time to buy. However there are other catalysts, known unknowns if you will (in addition to some known knowns), which may collapse XMR over the long run.

Without fresh blood, real-world integration or the saving grace of a whale, XMR is doomed to die a slow death. Don't worry, so are most coins. Its just that people spent an ungodly amount of time fretting over this one.

Dear nutildah,

I second this.

Even is XMR look awesome: the real-world integration fail, we aren't in the early stage anymore, the competition is rude and stuff happening now. I know only 3 coins who are going to be integrated in "the real world": BTC, XPC and Storj.
I had some hopes in XMR, but I lose all them when Risto started to work on this "game" for Monero. Risto is someone I follow from the begin: nice BTC prediction, nice speeches, etc... the guy is very interesting and was right most of the time. He was my metric. But now he turned into a XMR bug, posting texts walls, trying to protect the coin whatever the cost. Sign of despair.
For me this game is the symbolize the fact that nothing happened and nothing gonna happen. Hopes, is the only thing the XMR community have.

Take it easy, I'm not bashing anyone.
I think the price will continue to climb down, majority of peoples will sell and not buying back.

Real world integration my ass...Besides BTC, there aren't any cryptocurrencies accepted at any major stores/companies. Not 1. There is no real world integration yet, and even the Bitcoin saga is just beginning, with only a reported 1million bitcoin users. Bitcoin is still "early", as it hasn't even begun to hit into the mainstream yet, so please stop comparing other cryptocurrencies until we actually see some large Bitcoin acceptance by the mainstream communities around the world.

I have been out for 5 days, designing a game that should be online in 16 days (for 3 weeks total). Trolls jumping on the table for that.

Relax, dudes! This is supposed to be fun. And I am having fun. I never bought moneros for the reason that I would sell, so it does not matter that a €15k dump (seriously - what is that for money??) makes the price go down.

The game thread is the one with the most enthusiastic response I have ever had on this forum. That is nice Smiley Since it is using XMR as the ingame currency, and will in due time be integrated to a wallet, people playing the game are causing their XMR balance to go up simultaneously. Even a quite trivial game of 50,000 players can suck in 100,000s of XMR permanently (because playing without circulating currency is not possible, in a way it is "fiat" in the game, although fluctuating in value).

Read what I said, trolls, and shut up. (Sorry I'm sounding like AnonyMint, but I also sometimes have moments of epiphany Wink )

Interesting. I've recently been considering Monero more and more as a viable option for privacy, especially after learning of some "tragic" news for bitcoin's own privacy. I wish Monero the best of luck, hopefully we'll see it on the news within the next few years, as Bitcoin itself was.

Gamers will buy games from video game developers, who are very good at that particular skill and can pour millions of dollars of development into them. You are simply trying to keep your same tired audience interested in your mess of a coin. If they wanted to play a video game, they'd buy a real one.

I had an epiphany, too. I think you've been wrong more often than any other poster on this forum.
