Now that we've found a block I'll be restarting the pool shortly for some minor updates.

Thinking of point my s7 here, whats the best way to calculate a block find with 4.7th/s.

Approximating avg time to find a block (per bitcoin.it):
Time(s) = Difficulty * 2^32 / hashrate

So, in this case:
Time(s) =  5,077,499,034,879 * 2^32 / 4,700,000,000,000
Time(s) =  4,639,934,532s

Time(y) = Time(s) / 60 / 60 / 24 / 365 = 147.13y

That's obviously a long time.

Since every hash has an equal chance, I believe you can also look at that in terms of probability...meaning you have about a 0.68% chance of finding a block on your s7 in a year of hashing.

"So you're saying theres a chance?"

Thank you jsays, I suppose I'll have to look a power cost now. Since it wont be earning, just hoping for luck.

"So you're saying theres a chance?"

Ha, love the reference!

My power currently runs $0.125 / kWh, and fully hashing (down to two hash boards in that guy now) my s7 was eating 1300W. That works out to about $1,424 / y.

Were you to catch a block, you'd be looking at $76,400 (99% of 12.5btc at current exchange rate), for a vegas-style return of 54:1 on your electric investment.

So you're looking at maybe, 54:1 payout on those 147:1 odds. Not a bet I'd recommended, but if the exchange rate changes drastically that greatly affects the equation.

But, as some would say, "luck is luck", so if you get lucky...

Thanks jsays, I have two s7's and another one with two faulty boards, so we'll see. Our tech support lead is receiving 2pac's at some point and those will be mine in a few weeks to a couple months maybe. Probably wait on the s7's and will definitely solo mine the sticks. The only issue for me personally mining with the s7 is the lack of revenue to power them as the cost will be monthly but at least with sole proprietorship now the cost is a business cost. Im glad mfb didn't see it as a conflict of interest. otherwise my power would be too expensive to run anything at market currently.

Well they gave me one of the 2pac's they ordered, for some reason I though set up was harder than it is. Have 16gh of solo mining from my surface. Thank you for this pool too -ck. We'll see about those s7's at some point.

Either will work, but the former with the
Code:
.{{worker-name}}
will allow you to see work contributed by miner in your stats, and is often better for troubleshooting, if you have more than one miner.

Afternoon everyone my dad and I are setting up our s9 antminers to the solo.chkpool.org because we been on
slushpool and we just want to gamble alittle.

I want to make sure i am setting our miners up correctly, we have 3 antminers and want to set them up to
work the same pool with each other and i want to be able to track each ones performance.

under miner configuration i have setup pool1 with the following info.  Please let me know if its correct and if
its not please help me out and show me what to do please.

Pool 1:
URL          stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333
Worker    3CXqq9nasxUgqpC641BN5hgWmLChM68nun
password
is blank

my worker address is a new btc i created on my coinbase account.  Any help will be greatly appreciated and i promise any blocks found we will tip the site.

Thanks
Mike

In order to see the work of each miner distinctly, I would recommend that add a ".[unique name]" to the worker entry for each miner.

All will work the same except that you will be able to see the contribution of each of your S9.

Good luck!
