Hi I have recently invested in the bankroll - is their 2FA on Satoshi Dice?
Can't seem to find it if there is
There's currently no 2FA but we are working on adding it! As an incentive, I'll certainly add more to the bankroll if you do add 2FA to the site. I'm sure many others will too... (No rush though, best to make sure its secure and tested well) This is the main purpose of having such security measures in place like 2FA because people hold a lot of money, in this case bitcoin, in their accounts and don't want them comprised in the slightest. God forbid if someone just used a password generator and got luckly on one poor soul's account. and SD is so large and well known that it is pulling many hackers to try their luck, so if you only need a password it is only a matter of time before someone succeeds. Indeed, I'm not investing a huge amount in SD due to the risk, my passwords are very secure - but you can never 100% trust server security even if the passwords are hashed SD does not have that much of coins in their hotwallet makes it pretty safe with major investments. no one can take out larger sums of coins without SD must manually fill hotwallet and it becomes an additional control.

It doesn't matter how secure your passwords are if you re-use them. In my experience watching people trying to crack accounts, I'd say having a weak password is actually better than a super strong reused password. (But of course, you're best off using a password manager or sha256("super secure password" + siteName) as your password I'm using LastPass to generate all my passwords and have a different 20+ char password for each account I have. I think thats pretty secure. I never use the same password twice. There is a risk with the LastPass password as the key is encrypted online but requires 2FA and an enormous password to unlock/decrypt. so many idiots who use the same password on all sites, and then they think that a reputable site such as SD has been hacked and none of the other 20 sites where they use the same password.

Just never use the same password twice, it is among the first things that you learn. Still think SD have a secure system, weakest point is probably the users' password

i can not understand why people re-use passwords, and those who do not understand that it is not SD who compromised their passwords.

Some are smart and know it before, some have to learn the hard way myself included. Then there are those who do not learn from their mistakes.

I think that the standard of computer skills are pretty high on this forum, much higher than the average on the web. it should make it unusual in this forum.

It mentions earlier on this page that SatoshiDice are working on adding 2FA. I suspect it will be hear in the new future.

UPDATE November, 2012: The new SatoshiDICE site is launched! UPDATE AUG 19, 2012: SatoshiDICE has released paying shares https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=101902.0Hi all, SatoshiDice.com is the world's most popular Bitcoin betting site. Over 1,000,000 BTC has been won and over 1,500,000 individual bets placed (as of November 2012). Bet options are available with up to 64,000x multiples and a house edge of only 1.9% (and bet results are mathematically provably fair). To play, you just send coins to any of the listed addresses based on the odds you want. To see how easy it is, try sending 0.01 btc to 1dice9wcMu5hLF4g81u8nioL5mmSHTApw(That address gives you a 73% chance of winning) Payout is sent almost immediately (doesn't need to wait for confirmation). Super fast, easy, and fun Remember to do this only from wallets that let you receive coins from the address you sent them from (standard wallet, or blockchain.info wallet, both work great - if unsure about your wallet, test with a tiny amount and if you never get a payment back, then your wallet is incompatible). Many other bet odds available at the site. Enjoy SatoshiDICE! Well, i have to say that house edge is kinda big, so i prefer to not risk my money here. However i would like to see faucet here, i just wanna try this casino Looks awesome actually
