Have you forgotten that you posted this:

I still duff my hat for CZ Binance for what he has been able to achieve with Binance. No matter the criticisms against him, we should remember that the excitement and trust we still have on exchanges is partly because of him and his innovations.
So, in your understanding you decoded I said in that post that his exchange was the first, right? Guy, I'm done on this. Please yourself.
1002  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin, the only thing that stands on its lane. on: September 07, 2023, 06:30:54 AM

You just have to accept that Binance is not the first exchange and it is only copying what others have created before.
Frankly, I don't know what your point is or what you intend to achieve by distorting my comment to satisfy your narrative because I never said anywhere that Binance was the first exchange.

Quote
I do not trust Binance, that is why I have my coins on noncustodial wallet. There are also better exchanges. If there is no Binance, there will be other exchanges.
This is laughable. If you were a day trader, there must be an exchange you trade from. It doesn't have to be Binance. If you term yourself a trader and you say you don't have any coin on an exchange, then you aren't truthful to yourself.

He is earning money from millions of people. What has he exactly done that is new? The only person I know is Satoshi Nakamoto that created bitcoin and blockchain.
But of course, you don't even know the Satoshi Nakamoto you're fraternizing with. He's anonymous. Not even late Hal Finney knew him (them). Again, if you're going to be up talking others down for what you think they haven't done; it simply means there are achievements you can point to that you've under your belt in this crypto space. I want to believe you've innovations you've brought into this space yourself???

I can mention few  Grin

He created an exchange which was not the first exchange that was created. His exchanges was created in 2017, but exchanges has been existing since 2013, or maybe since 2010.
I saw through your sarcasm. However, for what it's worth; what's the state of those exchanges that existed before Binance now? How many of them are still in business till date and have the same mileage and trust rating as Binance? While I'm not standing in for CZ, I think it won't be nice to talk down on all that he has done for the industry. Nothing is completely bad in itself to the point it won't have something positive about it.

~snipped~
If CZ had his way he'll monopolized the industry, aren't you seeing what he did to coinmarketcap, trust wallet and other projects in the industry. Cz isn't different from what the government wants which is control.
You see it as a monopoly and tag it evil. I see it as capitalism. It can only become an issue if he's threatening others not to come in and establish their own stuff or he's scamming others. We are all capitalist. We want the best for every business engagement we go into. CZ is a shrewd businessman and will want the best too for every of his business commitments. That's the way I want to see it.

-Defi
- P2P
- Privacy
The first one on that list is absolutely but unnecessarily over bloated. Just like every new lingo in the crypto space, DeFi instantly became a buzz word. Again, because it has decentralized to it, it became an instant hit like when this industry had ICOs, IEOs, IDOs but it's obvious now that DeFi was just a thing. I bought a few tokens with the DeFi tag in them in the past but they didn't turn out well. None did well. As for the P2P, that's one of the major excitement points in this space and for Bitcoin too. That one is able to transact smoothly with others in exchange without middlemen shows the gains Bitcoin (cryptos) has over traditional financial institutions. In addition, the issue of privacy for me is a personal thing. I'm of the opinion that there's no way anyone in this industry can claim with certainty that they haven't in any way compromised their privacy ever in the past, except they're just starting out now.

Quote
I mean if Binance was decentralized right from day one, wouldn't this be cool? This is why I think decentralization is a complete joke in crypto today, any parties can just come out and they say they offer both.
I still duff my hat for CZ Binance for what he has been able to achieve with Binance. No matter the criticisms against him, we should remember that the excitement and trust we still have on exchanges is partly because of him and his innovations.
1006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto or Real estate on: September 05, 2023, 09:00:54 PM
Which one do you prefer?
Before you take answers and suggestions posted here literally to mean investment advice, just remember that in both you can make money as well as make losses. For those who think that investment in the real estate sector is a guaranteed profit earner they should've a rethink. I often hear people say land doesn't depreciate but I beg to differ. It's not always the case that one can resale what they've bought higher than they've bought it. Take for instance one buys a piece of land in an area that later got entangled with communal disputes. Well I leave you to paint a picture with your imagination of what the situation will be. For me, I think it will make much sense to invest in both.
1007  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are the procedures to follow when I want to invest? on: September 05, 2023, 08:00:53 PM
3. Why is using Bitcoin better than using conventional currencies?
I don't know how it works with others, anyway, but for me there's a type of ease I get when transacting with Bitcoin, especially funding an account or something else online. The convenience of sending it and getting it reflect almost immediately (especially days when there isn't much congestion), makes it easy to conclude that the role of middlemen in transactions is a real bottleneck.

Who even invest in something you don't understand yet?
We can't rule that out happening in reality and sometimes ending well too. It's only disastrous embarking on if one doesn't have anyone to mentor one. I barely knew what Bitcoin was when I made my first Bitcoin investment in 2017. I believe many people now are like me in 2017.
1008  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitcoin really risky as they say? on: September 05, 2023, 06:39:10 PM
Generally, most people sees Bitcoin as being of high risk , meanwhile, others tend to disagree with the fact of being risky.
I'm one of those who believe Bitcoin isn't risky when compared to altcoins. Those who think otherwise haven't deeply studied how Bitcoin works. For me, the only risk there would be making wrong entry or exit predictions while buying it. If we're referring to market dump as the risk Bitcoin can be thrown into or exposed to, then we should know that Bitcoin is like a cat with nine lives. It never dies. It has the ability of rising from its ashes. We've seen it rise from serious dump on several occasions during the bear seasons after each ATHs in the past.
1009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government vs Bitcoin on: September 05, 2023, 05:49:15 PM
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Your observation is decently okay. Nonetheless, we should also factor in the reasonability that comes with government action on what goes on. I know it's difficult for Bitcoin fans to see any reason with that. The truth remains that people will always fight whatever they feel threatens them or their business. That's what government is doing by trying to strangulate Bitcoin. Government feels Bitcoin will go up against traditional banking institutions to eliminate them. Government's mistake in all this is that it's evaluating Bitcoin from a wrong lens. May be Satoshi saw well into the future what government interference would be and made himself anonymous. With all the chase to halt Bitcoin, I'm sure if Satoshi were known he would've been harassed to no end.
1010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is KYC mandatory in CEX? on: September 05, 2023, 02:31:31 PM
KYC is not mandatory in all centralized exchanges.
I don't want to believe there's truly a Cex that won't in the actual sense call for KYC. It might take a while to ask but it will definitely come up later. It was the same way with Binance when it launched in 2017. KYC free and all that (even no commission, trading) on Binance until at some point it became mandatory for its subscribers to do before they could make withdrawals. I know it's not solely the making of these exchanges but the regulations they've to face and comply with from monitoring bodies and government agencies.
1011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How would you measure your success in Crypto currency on: September 05, 2023, 01:59:44 PM
share your success as well thankyou Cheesy
If by success you mean fulfilment, I can boldly say I've done very well for myself in that regard vis-a-vis Bitcoin and cryptos in general. However, if by success you mean razzmatazz and all that glamour; then I will say no. I'm one of the few who came into this industry empty handedly. No cash to invest, nothing whatsoever but my curiosity. That curiosity gave rise to series of researches that landed me in this forum. My first Bitcoin was earned here, and never bought. From then, I got into series of little investments here and there. The biggest win for me with Bitcoin is the variety of investments which it has thrown up for me in the crypto space. To say I can even do those investments and monitor them from anywhere I am, is the icing on the cake.
1012  Other / Meta / Re: A good statistics to show Nigeria need more merits source to approved at least 2 on: September 05, 2023, 12:14:35 PM
~snipped~
Instead of getting discouraged we can think of a compromise, I can give Nigerians LB about 150-200 merits per month, which means about 100 extra sMerit, just make a weekly list, PM me with it or through that thread and I'll look into it.
That's very thoughtful of you for such display of understanding. Accept my gratitude on beFull of the entire Naija board 🤗. I'm convinced it's a process you will, on hindsight, find fulfillment that you took this decision today.

Quote
After about 3 to 6 months, if there is an improvement in the quality of the posts and the post/merit ratio, then you will have enough reason to claim a new source source with +200 Merit per month.
Definitely, it will beat that threshold. The board has been very active and churning out constructive posts regardless of the austere merit it had been getting, you can imagine how it's going to be now that there's something compensatory on the way. The expectations will be high and the post quality will improve more.
1013  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Claim.usdcircle.io legit or scam? on: September 05, 2023, 10:14:56 AM
~snipped~
That's how scammers attack people, they usually use that sketchy prize thing so if people believe that they really won because of that notification then after that they will get scammed.
The first question anyone should ask themselves should be, "Why would a random stranger want to gift me something?" The second question should be (that's if they go ahead to take the first step by showing interest), "Why is someone trying to gift me something by asking me for cash to redeem the gift they said I got/won?" Those two questions the victims don't get to ask because they're blinded by greed to hasty up and claim whatever prize they've been promised they're getting. Honestly, I don't waste sympathy on those who fall for such cheap manipulations. They're the architects of whatever befalls them.
1014  Economy / Economics / Re: India just bought 1 million barrels of oil using rupees instead of USD on: September 05, 2023, 09:49:48 AM

I hope you now understand why the smart world, came to a single currency of mutual settlements ? Smiley Why was it the dollar? The answer is very simple - at that time, and in fact even now, there is no other, such a qualitatively secured and convenient currency.
Nah, that's incorrect. The analogy you drew up there with the grocery thing defeats your argument. You talked about a seller of different stuff and painted the image of one trying to buy but asked to pay in different currencies. In my submission, I said the person exporting. They're not the same thing. If I'm exporting, I should be able to dictate the currency I want to be paid with. For instance, if I'm selling to Russia I should demand I want to be paid in my local currency, the naira. If I'm exporting to India, Cameroon, The UK etc, it should be the same demand. That will help strengthen my naira. If I'm importing from those countries, they should tell me what currency I should pay them with. That's the whole point of my comment. Now that India transacted in its local currency against the dollar, the country gained currency strength. However, I get the picture of countries trying to keep on with the dollar. I know it's from the dependency angle of the US because of the humanitarian duties of the US to them. They're just trying to cuddle to the US and not as if they can't do otherwise.
1015  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and others urge AI pause, citing 'risks to society' on: September 04, 2023, 11:55:02 PM
The government need to control the use or else it would be used to cause a lots of attacks thag would look real to humans eyes. People had started using it to clone other people's imagine which should be framed at. I have started seeing a lots of things we can use the chatgpt to do which would look extraordinary to people when they see the outcome. We may be enjoying it now but there a bad people that will not mind to use the dark side to cause harm and destroy personalities.
I guess the part where the Pope is involved is what is causing this great fear, right? Before now, there have been Al images of so many people (both influential and otherwise) yet not so many people cared what was paraded. This isn't to engage in any argument in religiosity, but I think what is sauce for the goose should also be sauce for the gander. Every life should be treated as sacred, should matter. We're all mortal beings. Al usage has enabled man do certain stuff almost effortlessly and shouldn't just be discharged because of its perceived demerits. It should be regulated, that's all; and not just be stopped.
1016  Economy / Economics / Re: India just bought 1 million barrels of oil using rupees instead of USD on: September 04, 2023, 11:37:35 PM
Can we say that trading using local currencies has become an attractive trend, especially with countries beginning to diversify their reserves, or is everything that is happening an attempt to put political pressure on the United States?
Honestly, I wonder why countries weren't doing it before now. The US has enjoyed that fringe benefit of making countries she trades with use the dollar as a currency of exchange for so long a time. I mean, it should be the countries selling/exporting dictating to use their own local currency as export currency and not the other way round. The US sells to you, it's the dollar. She buys from you, it's the dollar. It's the same way Africa has been brainwashed out of its local currency use when dealing with foreign countries, not just only the US. Even among their African countries, they choose to transact in the dollar. Imagine Nigeria trading with South Africa or Rwanda and dollar is the exchange currency. That's extremely bad. They all do it. What should be the place of the US dollar in that? Nothing! It should be either the naira or rand or Rwandan Franc in use, nothing else.

I wish leaders of these countries will start seeing reasons to also use their own currencies so as to develop and strengthen them. It makes more economic sense.

Yes, if people in the field of crypto apply this principle, I think they will not be affected by any potential fraud that may befall their wallets. Scammers exploit the factor of temptation and greed among people...
Those who fall for that should've themselves to blame because they too are willing tools. In simple logic, their greed did them in. It's not only in cryptos we find such people. They cut across. It's the same way we've those who get sms alerts to their phones that they've won a couple of thousands (sometimes, millions) in lotteries they never participated in and then they're given certain number(s) to call for claims, and they're interested in calling. It always ends in premium tears for them because they end up getting scammed.
1018  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Claim.usdcircle.io legit or scam? on: September 04, 2023, 06:53:21 PM
Edit..
From my information on transaction details I noticed that it was only sent to 4 address that received each 5000 usdc in their various addresses.
Lucky you! Wouldn't you think you and the other three addresses are extremely lucky to have had the attention of your benevolent "ancestors" who endowed you with such unsolicited wealth? The partiality that excluded me from that freebie should cease with immediate alacrity. I want in 🙄.

Going forward, until everyone sees reason that there's no free lunch anywhere in the world and that money literally don't grow on trees, scammers will keep finding their craft lucrative. For me, I don't even bother going through whatever token that's tossed at me. If I didn't pay for it, it's not mine and I won't bother stretching to draw from it. That's my major guiding principle in this industry.
1019  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you risking investment in other things? on: September 04, 2023, 05:14:25 PM
I do not mean alt-coin but things like Real Estate, stocks, bonds etc. I know that Real Estate is good to invest in, but asides real estate, what else are you risking the money you should to invest more in bitcoins on?
With a mere $10 or less I (one) can get it rolling with Bitcoin or altcoin investment but that can't be said about Real Estate or others you mentioned. There's a certain level of convenience with crypto investment over others. For me, I won't risk investment in stocks or real estate at a time like this when I know there's a bull run waiting around the corner. Bitcoin is offering a discount with the occasional price dump it's creating now. I'm also diversifying into alts too ATM.

(1) I live alone in the house. but now, I have wife and children.
(2) I was living in a rented apartment. but now, I live in my own house.
(3)  I was tricking to places. but now, Bitcoin have giving me a car.
(4) before I don't have any source of income. but now, Bitcoin is my source of income.
We all love to read or hear stories like what you've shared here. They make us feel excited and put us in good sprit. You know, it's always a good feeling when we reckon that something worthy and positive is happening with Bitcoin. However, I'm not excited as others here. My reason been that I don't agree with what you shared on 2 & 3. They look a bit bogus. For starters, before anyone tells me it's possible, I know it's possible but that will be with huge amount of cash invested. Such would've been possible with those who've been in Bitcoin and not newbies. Except OP, you're able to show cause that you invested heavily. Otherwise, I go with my guts that you must've invested with caution like a typical newbie would do and that wouldn't amount to what you said you were able to achieve with your involvement with Bitcoin within the years mentioned, in less than six years. I doubt.
