1282  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: US Tariff Ruling N297495 = 2.6% mandatory tariff on bitcoin mining hardware on: July 09, 2019, 08:59:59 PM
Found this on google, it is basically referring to the 'past' tariff's with Mexico and Canada on such. Also future EU actions.

https://pasquines.us/2018/03/15/trumps-trade-war-would-affect-puerto-rico/

So even though you said NO guessing, I'd find it hard to believe that if those apply, China would get a pass. Sad

will keep looking

Brad

Well found this: Seems that USA custom rules apply. So the tariff would be a go, just like the rest of the USA in Puerto Rico. Sad

I tripped over www.cointracker.io for showing your crypto public addresses and portfolio. But it does not have much in the way of any altcoins.

Just DASH, BCH, and ETH, etc. Less than a dozen...coins..very few of any altcoins.

Is there another one that has a decent amount of altcoins to track with the public addresses in the manner of www.cointracker.io?

Anyway, this one is free and again is OK..but need another in the same manner to track my altcoin empire!

As to hodl'ing altcoins, I myself am not buying but have little invested for what I have in about 5 or they are BCH and BSV and Bitcoin fork

type coins I'm not gonna touch or move, because of IRS and Tax Implementation, etc. That would not be worth it as of now, a real pain.

Thus, hodl'ing what few I have left since 2018 (dumped Dash/Garlicoin (thank god!) some other oddball ones at least when the price was higher in 2018)

As to what is left. Meh! Let it ride, I could get lucky. (or not)

Indeed, it looks like such. He is kinda screwed, if this is the documentation he has to prove his case, IMHO.

1285  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] LiveCoin Signature Campaign | Hero/Legendary Members | Up to 0.02BTC/Week on: July 09, 2019, 02:51:40 PM
So rumors that  campaign will end today are true Sad  That was one of the best campaign I was fortunate to take part in. It helped a lot to develop our local  board and it is too bad that it have to terminate in such a way ..

PS. I don't think btc price spike is a reason - they could just to lower payrate/ cut paid post limit etc if it was a case..

Ah, you are correct. But in the past campaigns I've been in since 2013 onward, they ONLY do this after say a few months of a hiatus and like you said at less $$ or BTC.

I've often wondered why? Accounting Reasons? Clear the Deck and do a complete re-do with a new thread? But yeah, this also is a trend kinda, the old 'rebirth' of the campaign

for hype/eyeballs/etc. Never really figured it out, but also pretty common to take a break in sig campaign than a few months later offer it to new folk with less BTC per post.

I kinda doubt this will be the case for Livecoin Exchange. They likely have NO real interest anymore, if they are that offended by folk talking mean to them on the INTERNET. Smiley

Also, even if they did try to make a new campaign, likely it would be flag'd immediately and all this will be brought up. I'm afraid they are now in Yobit's camp and

destined to stay away from bitcointalk. Sad, but again, they seemed awful offended and unwilling to bend on this whole thing, so myself, I think they are washing their hands

of bitcointalk sig campaigns. Hopefully, I'm wrong and they will revive their image with SOME better controls and TOS, etc, but kinda doubt it from the offer to have a resolution.

But again, the BTC pump of over 100% from April 2019, had to have a major effect on their reasoning, IMHO. This controversy just added to the drama. Again, IMHO. I know zip.

Brad

So rumors that  campaign will end today are true

PS. I don't think btc price spike is a reason - they could just to lower payrate/ cut paid post limit etc if it was a case..

The only reason the campaign is ending this week is because Hhampuz has decided to stop managing the campaign I'm very positive it was the decision of Hhamphuz and not Livecoin and It was the right thing to do as him continuing to manage the campaign would had just destroyed his reputation on the forum as the accusation against Livecoin exchange has solid proof (evidence) and the Livecoin didn't handle the situation proper instead they demonstrated some signs of dictatorship and unwillingness to resolve the issue which is just shady.

They really did not give him a lot of choices. Also, I think some Livecoin 'threats' were there to pull the sig campaign, due to the flag. So again, I'd likely have done the same,

considering their last response, which was less than ideal to resolve this whole cluster. Again, IMHO, I think this campaign was doomed anyway, Livecoin was kinda 'amateur hour'

as you can tell from how they handled this whole cluster. They would have, again IMHO, simply whined without the controversy about the pump in BTC price and pulled the

campaign anyway, IMHO. But yeah, I understand why he pulled the campaign, he has a reputation to maintain and other signature campaigns to run. Hopefully, he will find others

for us to join.

Thanks Hhampuz. As usual a great job. So I guess we all just follow you around now and ask 'are we there yet' for new campaigns you are supposed to pull out of thin air' Smiley

Again good job.

Brad

It's really sad that this campaign has to end soon, but that's how it is, life still goes on just like a normal forum members.

I would like to say my advance thanks to Hhampuz who manage this campaign properly, all payments are made correct and on time.
Hopefully more campaign will come soon and I would not hesitate to take part again.

Also, I'm expressing my thanks to Livecoin for running this long campaign though it has an unfortunate ending. Hopefully you will be able to stay firm and strong to answer all these accusations and do all necessary improvements to stay on the business and on the top of the competition.
They are close-minded on those accusations and not doing the right things to handle it, only Hhampuz did the right thing here because he stopped managing their Signature campaign and especially participants must read also what's happening with Livecoin's Scam Accusation and don't be bias about it if you're really showing support. They're not at the top of the competition by the way not even at the top 50.

Yeah, I muffed the works, voted for the flag first, reviewed the stuff at the time, then voted against the flag, then their reply to the flag and or resolution, hell, If that had

been their response first, I'd have kept my first vote. I guess in the future I have to just sit on the fence on such muddy waters and decide later. Again, I mucked up around

and all over the place on this cluster. Lesson learned, 'stay out of domestic crypto squabbles' at least until you see the stance IN FULL from both sides.

Damn, I'd make a lousy Judge. Sad

1286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Music. What is yours? When BTC is Pumping & in full FOMO mode? on: July 09, 2019, 02:41:16 PM
Take a look at this --> https://cryptonomist.ch/en/2018/12/25/bitcoin-songs/ for the 10 most listened Bitcoin songs on the Internet.  Wink

My personal best Bitcoin song is this song, All About That Bitcoin - by Naomi van der Velde
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/bnno4p/song_all_about_that_bitcoin_by_naomi_van_der_velde/  I can listen to that Angel voice 24/7  Grin Grin Grin Grin

I have some other favorites too, but nothing comes close to "All About That Bitcoin" ... It calms me down, when I get the urge to sell some coins.  Wink

Good take on this. Did not even think of Bitcoin Songs.

Tom Lee of Fundstrat is saying we are gonna blast past the ATH in a few months.

So maybe HODL is not a bad idea.

Then again being Bitcoin: "Bitcoin doing the opposite of what you expect since 2009! (tm Bitcoin)

Price as I type this is $12,400.00 USD and dropping some from profit taking. We will see.

No FOMO Music for me yet. Sad

I'm interested in ANY new Bitcoin Forks that are on the horizon.

I 'missed out' on the Bitcoin 2 Masternode one, that released like June 2nd, 2019 or some such.

I would be all over something like that. Right now I'm too cheap to pay for 1,000 BTC 2 coins.

Yeah, I know, me of little faith. But as sh*tcoins go, if you get into a full Bitcoin Fork Coin

early enough, you have better odds of breaking even, at least, IMHO and more so with masternode

at least as OK as the BTC 2 version.

Just saying, and again just 'fishing' on here for what I just posted.

Good overview with interesting insights at how the IRS is trying to tackle crypto holders.

Quote
I recently got hold of a presentation given to special agents in the IRS Criminal Investigation division that discussed investigating taxpayers who hold crypto. I went through all of the 181 horribly formatted slides (attached for reference haha) and here's what I learned...
https://twitter.com/CryptoTaxGirl/status/1148370517415456768

good god

Yeah, SEC was called by my bank in 2013 because Bitcoin was 'evil' in 2013, don't ya know. I went thru the above, linked .pdf paper above.

I'm legal as hell on mining, etc. Saw nothing that would worry me, unless they start a 'pool' to do random audits out of, ahem, simply crypto returns that is. That would suck!

So hell, at least there is that, my own CPA and everything trained since 2013 on the IRS guidelines. They got lots of 'tax $$$' out of my 'legit efforts'

So yeah, no issues. But then again, I'm like a 'tame' goat. Never had a chance to run free and break tax laws. This bank fiasco made me legal as hell 5 months

after getting into bitcoin mining. So maybe a blessing in disguise, otherwise I'd probably be 'crapping my pants' now. It is 'easy' to be good when you are at one

time looked at by the SEC (and found worthy). So what?  Whew?

Again, looking at above seems to be what I expected the IRS to do and act like.

But then again, I was captured and 'tag'd' around May 1st, 2014. (At least they did not 'notch' my ear, like a penned deer) Smiley

Hmm....seems like I'd do that too...If I could get BTC priced at $900 worth of BTC instead of about 1/2 from mt. gox.

The fortress folk is just doing this to get 'massive quantities' of BTC at a double price buy as to get by without blowing up the Bitcoin Price on the 'real market'?

That is the reason right, or am I missing something obvious instead...and then going to take that 'hoard' and go 'Long Term HODL' as a speculative play?

So how legit? is this?

I guess maybe it depends on when mt. gox pays you 1/2 of whatever they are offering huh? Soon or next year?

anyway, befuddled and wondering

1291  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] LiveCoin Signature Campaign | Hero/Legendary Members | Up to 0.02BTC/Week on: July 09, 2019, 03:04:42 AM
Well at least I can say that I tried. I am not happy with the response LiveCoin gave in here and I have given them my notice that the Campaign will end after payments have been sent out tomorrow. And as I previously stated, flag me or neg me I really could not be bothered but I'll be damned if I ever succumb to bullying by users who's entire existence appears to be spreading negativity and putting others down. But then I've come to expect nothing short of just that which is why this forum matters less and less with each day passing by.

@OP. Hope your situation gets a resolution, I'm officially done and I'm out of here.

I'm really sorry to see this, but I knew it would end like this.

There is too much pressure on Hhampuz and we all know they will use this campaign further against him if not finished or all claims resolved and TOS changed, which I don't expect to happen.

I only hope karma will show the power and Hhampuz will get a bunch of new campaigns soon, with the highest payouts ever, to manage them and he will take us all back to work.

As for now, this is our last day in this great campaign. Thanks, Hhampuz for everything, you did all what possible to resolve this problem.

From past campaigns I still think that the REAL reason for the Livecoin 'pushback' was they did not want to settle a 'murky' situation. Also, if past campaigns I've been involved in, they

always end on a 100% or more pump of BTC price. I mean really, the price of BTC on 4/5/19 was $5,050 and as we speak now it is $12,334.39. So at best we lost a MONTH in this

controversy. Livecoin, IMHO, was probably looking at the 'outlay' for this campaign vs return, even before this 'cluster' blew up. The way they 'lashed' back IMHO, kinda proves they

we're gonna move on anyhow. Not sure if this helps any, but since 2013 and more than a dozen signature campaigns I've been in. THEY ALL END WITH A 100% PUMP. More or less, pretty

much a month or two later. Maybe, this is not much of a compensation, but that's how I see this, it is just the way signature campaigns end, on FOMO/Pumps. Sad

As to who was correct on the whole thing, it was so murky, I understand that compromise was the only solution, that was not gonna happen, from either camp, thus this again

may have add fuel to the Livecoin Signature Campaign down...but if my past signature campaigns and how they ended have any validity, was gonna happen anyway.

I figure campaigns from now on will be in USD from now on. Paid maybe in BTC, but a set USD price. Anyway, again, I know zip, I was all over the place on this situation, but

how I see this. Inevitable.

Anyway, I obviously no 'zip' but there it is

Clueless!

1294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese Media Is All Praises For Bitcoin on: July 08, 2019, 10:24:40 PM
China media reports that bitcoin will always get the spotlight and praise. Bitcoin in China will affect prices, so I think China is doing a good step for Bitcoin if the media starts to highlight Bitcoin and China taking a good step

I think this is ONLY due to the fact that many affluent members of the Chinese Party have the means/funds/tech know how to do Bitcoin and Crypto Mining.

Also, the 'alignment' of an 'overabundance' of hydroelectric power, due to excessive rains are gonna make deals between utility companies (hydro state owned)

and places like Bitmain rich as hell, before this 'Summer Water and Hydro Electric' surge passes by fall.

Indeed, this could be Bitcoin's last China Mining Gold Rush. I suspect after this Summer and the above hydro excesses go away, it will go back to being

evil Bitcoin and Miners that are taxing the electrical grid stories again. Smiley China like cycle Bitcoin as bad/good depending on how the winds blow with the power elite!

my view of this anyway since watching from 2013

Five Years. Pashaw.

I am having trouble right now watching the pump/fomo/hodl from 4/5/19 at $5,050 USD. To the present price at this moment of pumping to $12,340.20!

I'm afraid if any of the pundits that say they expect BTC to go to 20k/30k/50k are correct, my 'head' will explode from sheer confusion/joy!

sheesh

Brad
1296  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 08, 2019, 10:10:48 PM
AYH by the end of tomorrow please.
It would be nice if the price of BTC got all the way up to 20,000 USD by tomorrow. However, I am almost positive with such a rapid rise, we would have a very deep correction, since many people caught in the December 2017 parabolic rise would love to unload and be done with BTC.

I agree with the first part of your thesis, bones, including that going straight up to $20k might be a bit unsettling to the price and even difficult to sustain in any kind of meaningful way...

--------------

Yep, said better than I could say.

--------------

but I think that my reasons differ from yours... including that such an upwards price move to $20k would be too soon and too fast...

-----------

Ditto, would like it to plug to say 20k over a period of saying at LEAST 6-9 months, so folk could get used to the idea.

Don't get me wrong.  I would not be suggesting that any kind of BTC price stability would likely in the $17,500 to $24k arena, unless the BTC price were to bounce quite above that range first before coming back down.

On the other hand, we could bounce up to $20k in a relatively short period of time and then correct back down to our current price or some kind of reasonable (or not reasonable) range of our current price, give or take a few thousand dollars.

Also, kinda want to see the effect on markets of HODL'ers that run big Litecoin Operations, without a 'carry along' with the price on LTC after the halving in less than a month, that could act as a 'brake' IMHO, on Bitcoin HODL and Bitcoin Price as they have to 'redress' such if it stays flat or goes south in price. I would guess a majority of these miners are converting to Bitcoin as well.

Or, hell, it was what I used to do and what I remember from the last LTC halving, all sorts of scrambling..(currently not mining any scrypt-pow of any flavor)

I don't find it too productive to be spending too much brain power to attempt to make correlations between shitcoins and BTC price performance, including shitcoin LTC... Doesn't really matter too much about what the tail does, let's try to focus on the dog.

Similarly with  other shitcoins, sure sometimes the tail might get caught in a door or maybe it gets pulled or wagged by some other entity, but for the most part, considering other "dog" factors will remain much more important than attempting to monitor and/or attribute some causation based on tail dynamics.

------------

I kind of agree with serveria, though, that a lot of the weak hands have likely been shaken and they are not going to have too much of an impact.. In other words, FOMO is going to outweigh whatever easily dumping.. while at the same time there is going to continue to be a decent amount of institutional money that is secretly (or perhaps not so secretly) trying to get in on this bullrun and even engaging in some front running attempts on the price  - including already starting to realize about a kind of inevitable upwards price dynamic that is caused by halvening.

Unsure that I agree with above completely, but would prefer your above 'scenario' even if modest...big FOMO, IMHO, would be if the traditional markets start to get weak, if they themselves just carry on sideways in price, at their ATH, I just can't see enough FOMO for your plan. Ideally, I'm dead wrong, just saying that would get to the FOMO level you explain above, again, IMHO.

I think that I am describing a kind of phenomenon that could be taking place based on some current observations including the fact that more and more institutions are expressing greater and greater interest in bitcoin.  Surely, some of this perhaps clandestine interest of institutions could dry up and could also have some symbiotic affects on retail as well.. including a variety of normal joe blows that begin to believe that there might be some upwards price opportunities.

Really I could give few shits about the specifics because we should be willing and able to continue to monitor a situation that seems to be evolving that seems to involve more and more players with more money that they might be ready, willing and able to put some of their value into bitcoin which can cause snowballing effects upon others, including folks who already own bitcoin but start to believe that they might want to grab a bit of a higher stake, too.  Of course, some of the buying/selling dynamics could change at any time and momentum could even dry up.... or even move towards downwards for a period of time. I am surely not wedded to the continuation of some kind of dynamic that seems to be evolving.. but also seems to be bullish for as long as it does continue to play this way.

Yeah, my only point on altcoin miners is MOST buy or HODL bitcoin, depending on how they are doing. Thus the Litecoin halving and/or the 'supposed' altcoin catch up in price and

some other stuff, COULD effect them HODL'ing and or DUMPING BTC for bills/expenses etc.

to keep their equipment and data hall stuff in play, till the next altcoin revival or depending on how they play this HODL Bitcoin. MOST miners I know dabble about 50/50 alts and

Bitcoin, as per ASIC equipment now. Thus, it is a big deal, if they have bills to pay, data halls to pay off, etc, etc. To BTC price with a quick dump.

Perhaps that means a 'dip' and buying for BTC. Just saying, there would be an effect, IMHO.

Anyway, from the usual grumbling I hear of being a miner of any manner anymore is hard as hell.

Supposedly, anyway, from my generic contacts on how altcoin mining plays into BTC. Indeed, all my HODL is from altcoin mining. Just saying, seems similar to stuff in the past.

I had to deal with on what to mine and what to HODL to keep the doors open on the mining operations.

Sure from a miners perspective, on a micro level, these kinds of thoughts will need to be entertained, but in the whole scheme of things, I doubt that miners selling BTC or LTC or a combination due to the LTC halvening would be a factor that is much more than a blip on BTC's radar.  There are bigger factors and BIGGER fish for BTC to fry, in my humble bumble opinion.

yeah, I guess you are correct, what was the miners vs hold'ers of 2013/14/15 to the amount of BTC miners now is likely micro-economically speaking.

You'd not think so from the massive grumbling from miners and tariffs etc. Indeed, having a mixed room of farmers and miners and overhearing the conversations

in equipment depreciation and capital gains tax, etc. You'd not be able to tell them apart. But yeah, forgot the universe has gotten much bigger with BTC for this to matter much.

1297  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: US Tariff Ruling N297495 = 2.6% mandatory tariff on bitcoin mining hardware on: July 08, 2019, 10:07:46 PM
Anyone seen any 'experts' on this 25% policy being reversed soon? Not saying at the current difficulty with Bitcoin and other Crypto Coins, it still would make a lot of sense to get an ASIC POW miner of any crypto flavor. But damn, this 25% import tariff kills that idea, dubious or not, deader than dead, as soon as a 'concept' of such crosses my mind!

I'd like to think it was going to happen from current progress within the last month at most say 2 months from now. But that is a wild and half-assed guesses/hopes/whatever.

Anyway, just tossing it out there. Hopefully, folk are more on the ball progress than me on here and can post some links.

Just an aside. IF you managed to get say a 'demo' unit from an ASIC manufacturer inside China to send you a unit FREE for review. (yes, I mean this for you Philipma1957, I'd never have your luck)..but anyway, if the unit was free, there would be no 'tariff' per se right? Now that might be too 'cute' but at least, if a trusted 'reviewer' of this 'demo' ASIC product, IF you did keep such after the 'review'. You would only have to pay the 'retail price' in that the tariff, did not apply? (again, sketchy and unlikely, but worse that would happen is you'd pay the tariff on your demo unit before or after the fact....looking for an 'angle' here dubious or not) Smiley (Note: This only applies to Philipma1957 us other 'non-solar' minions don't approach his god-like powers to pull this off) Smiley

But again, how do 'tariffs' apply to goods that are sent to say the press/or to be tested at U.L. labs or above? Free is Free right? Thus, NO tariffs?

What are your music choices to play when Bitcoin Pumps?

Put your choices here, via youtube or whatever so we can have a selection of BTC pump/FOMO music to choose from!

Seems to be the time to 'crank up the FOMO/PUMP/HODL music choices again for me. (see choice below) Smiley

Secret Agent Man is my choice of song. The lyrics seem to sum up the life of danger for those of us in Bitcoin and Crypto!
