the random fact evening wall report

The elephant is the only animal with 4 knees.

A good list, but allow me to retort this one.
Front one's are NOT knees, but wrists and elbows, lol.

Quote
What appear to be the elephant’s front knees are in fact its wrists and elbows. The difference comes down to a biological distinction between the bones that the joint connects. Knees connect the thighbone (femur) and the shinbone (tibia) of the leg, whereas a wrist joint connects a forearm and the hand.

They have me on tons of pills for other shit for the last 22 years and I've watched my mental capacities decline markedly as well as the physical. So I'm basically figuring this is my last push to stay healthy if I fail i'll just call it a day and eak out my last few decades eating whatever the fuck I want and let the chips fall where they may. Cheesy
*poof* another lab result gets flagged.

been there, checked my last results today, lol-mostly borderline in quite a few.
the doc says: eat veggies...every diet web site has it's own agenda.
'boosterspice', eh?
that would be a good btc expense, imho.

hey, Phil, how can a miner make money with the new machines?
bitcon is a bit down, but Bitmain's prices are still insane.
I understand that they are selling with discount to large buyers, but for retail, I am calculating 3 year breakeven with 8c electricity and NO difficulty increase (and not counting halving in 2024).
Since these machines often last only 2-2.5 years being fully intact (without dropping 1-2 boards), then what gives?
Of course, appreciation could help, but i am used to the concept of getting some profit even in btc, albein a small one.

In the market for one of these ?

ps is Bitchmain still taking the piss with delivery times?

where to find 1Mw power plus 200X15K= $3mil in miners.  Grin

the diabetes is not terrible I can stay under a1c of 7 via diet and I do it.

I don't know anything about diabetes except you can't eat any white foods.

Question, is non dairy creamer bad for diabetes?

Someone I know piles that shit in their coffee and then the implant they have goes off and they say its not connected.

its terrible.

if you have diabetes and cholesterol . you have to drink black coffee unsweetened.

I learned that in the Navy as we would run out of sugar and milk while at sea.

as i mentioned i have decent cholesterol so I can have heavy cream with coffee if I want to.

Oh my blood pressure and weight is decent so I can eat a ton of steak and eggs 🍳 with salt or mustard

Or steak eggs 🥚 bacon peppers onions and cheese 🧀 with some dried tomatoes.

It is a dozen eggs.
a skirt steak 16 oz i cut it into pieces about the size of my pinky.
One red bell pepper chop it into piece about the size of my pinky
one onion. dice it smal
a  oz of sun dried tomato 🍅 make strips
 some coconut oil

melt the coconut in the pan oil as it is like butter in the fridge
cook the onions and bell peppers
add the steak
mix the eggs in a bowl
add to the frying pan mix it a bit
add the dried tomatoes.

lay various slices of different cheeses.

the frying has to be pretty big. remember a dozen eggs.

this dish serves four to six.

my wife and I will eat some for breakfast. I have it for lunch. nuke it hot
and eat the left over for break fast nuke it hot.

I fuck with it vary the veggies. add some bacon to it or add brooklyn naked biltong (cleanest biltong made)
it is really good. likely it has saved my life

my a1c was at 12 which is dude you are going to die.
I found out i was diabetic checked my prostate (this is a big killer in my family)

doctor freaked. called my house my cell and emailed me.

I did a shit ton of research to see if I could get my numbers low without drugs.

Ok, you were able to lower your A1C quite significantly.
What is the main component that did it, in your opinion?
Not adding sugar? eating lots of meat? maybe veggies?

... then you might want to sell enough to fulfill your tax obligation (at least for estimated taxes) that come mid January.

...

So miners/traders get an estimated bill/obligation in mid January?

They don't have to, but if they don't, then there is a penalty later on.
The obligation is self-calculated, nobody sends you a bill (in US), not initially.
Brokerages send a 1099 form that depicts P/L, but this is only for stocks, options, etc.
They tried to send those for bitcoin/crypto (i think Coinbase did it at some point), but reneged after much outcry (they were calling sending out btc from an exchange a 'sell").
My understanding that they do send such tax due bill in other countries.
overall, taxes in US are INSANELY complex.

...

Still have tax due in a few days...

How does the US tax system work? Does a business pay at the start of the new year, and citizens pay in April?

You can file to extend documentation to October, if you want, as long as you paid 100% in April.
Corp: by the 15th day of the third month following the tax year (March 15 for calendar year).
LLCs-flowthrough to individual tax if single member, then there are franchise taxes (TX-in May).
Last year I had to pay a bit, then they hammered me with high estimated payments and now it looks like I overpaid.
Impossible to get it right (either you have paid too much or too little almost every time).

I seem to remember people blaming early January bitcoin dumps on miners/traders having to sell to pay US taxes. Is that bullshit?

Not entirely because if you made sweet gains or mined lots of btc, especially at higher prices by the end of the year (as it happens frequently), then you might want to sell enough to fulfill your tax obligation (at least for estimated taxes) that come mid January. If you had a large realized gain (or income), but carried all of it to April, you would incur penalties and/or be unable to pay the tax at all. Example: gained $100 in Dec, need to pay $25 in April, but your btc declined to $20. You are out of luck: have to pay, but funds are insufficient.

My takeaway, FTA: "all signs point to the vaccinated bearing the brunt of repeat Covid infections and the immune deficits"

Isn't the COVID over? It is in most peoples minds, even so it is not fully true.

... acquired immunodeficiency doesn't really work like that ... it's not over until people stop getting sick ... from genetically-engineered virus or genetically-engineered mandated jabs ...

... you've really become a despicable apologist for some very greedy, very powerful and abusive people ... imho.

apologist? i have no connection to any of the companies or the people involved.
I did not even invest in vax companies as moderna had a huge market cap even beforehand (now it is positively obsene).
I just note that waxing about problems (like that dude in your quote) does not seem to correlate with reality (the number of the sick and the dead).

Heck, maybe COVID antibodies make all those vaxxed reluctant to invest in bitcoin? As good a hypothesis as any because I fail to understand why the masses still DO NOT do it truly en masse.

I feel like we’ll see some established posters pull a mindrust in the coming months. Who’s your money on? Cheesy

Just remember, short to medium term price moves mean nothing. Fiat is dog shit, 1BTC = 1BTC. If we enter a bear market now, use it to your advantage & increase your stash.

For what it’s worth, I think we’ll go under $30,000 at some point in the next 12 months. We won’t go sub $20,000 though. $100,000 & much higher is a guarantee in 2024/25 after the next halving. Be smart, if you panic then you’re looking at too low a time preference. $100,000 & beyond in under 3 years, any kind of significant dip now is a gift.

Keep calm, HODL & stack, King’s.

"Who’s your money on?"
On you and BLB?  Cool
It's quite realistic, if you consider the past disclosures, albeit maybe not the "full midrust" (100%), but rather a "mindrust-lite" (50-75%).
Hairy already sold out, perhaps,..based on his chronic absence. The "fractal" did not pan out in the long run.
Some other folks are gone too (gentlemand? Last of the V8s?).

Those 'words' (from the mouth of MoA 'source') are pseudo-scientific gibberish.
What 'signs'? In the sky?
Here is the reality:
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/texas-covid-cases.html (check 90 days and ALL)

However, it is OVER now as far as MANDATORY stuff and I don't intend to do any more boosts and always rejected the 'mandatory' part.
Isn't the COVID over? It is in most peoples minds, even so it is not fully true.

Was it a great overreaction and governmental panic?
Maybe it was, but bitcoin benefited greatly (moved from 8-10K to 30-50K), so there is that.

Maybe it is a call for boomers to mostly relinguish their grip on financial and other power.
Just retire already! A call to politicians over 75, financiers over 80.

Warren Buffett isn't a boomer. He belongs to the Silent Generation.

Hal Finney is a boomer. Nick Szabo missed being a boomer by 4 months.

OK, point taken, but not even much relevant since oldest boomers are about 76 and getting older.
Peter Thiel was talking about  stifling of innovations by an "old' cohort.
It is 'old' by ideas, not only by age (most of it anyway).
'Gerontocracy' is a quite relevant term considering the average age of the last two presidents and the Senate in US.

If you think that there is no animosity in young people toward older folks, consider talking to them.
Younger people are basically deprived (most of them anyway) of a possibility of owning their home based on average salaries.
A house in Toronto cost $2 mil on average, with average salary being 67K. The down-payment for the average house would be $175K (5% up to 500K and 10% on all above), I gather.
How a person with a 67K salary can afford 175K in down-payment?
Hardly, and I am pretty sure that 50 years ago YOU were in a different position (average house cost only $32-34K in 1972 with 11K salaries).
House/salary=~30 in 2022
House/salary=~3 in 1972

This CANNOT continue in the same direction. What would cause this to reverse (apart from bitcoin rise), I don't know, but it is unsustainable and I partially understand why younger people blame us (boomers and older).

Peter Thiel..on gerontocracy aka Buffett, etc.

https://fortune.com/2022/04/07/peter-thiel-bitcoin-warren-buffett-jamie-dimon-larry-fink/

I like the term, but I still don't know if it is worth it to use fighting words..or simply absorb all assets in bitcoin...mostly silently.

Gerontocracy? What a load of crap.

I'm older than both Larry Fink and Jamie Dimon and I clued in immediately upon hearing about Bitcoin. Now I'm set for life. One of my friends, a member of the Silent Generation in his 80s, accumulated 13BTC before passing away over a year ago. When he knew the end was drawing near, he went on a sending spree and cashed in his last coins a week before he died. He had no heirs.

Meanwhile, a Millennial friend scoffed at me and called me a sucker who couldn't see through an obvious scam, while pursuing a "career" as an online poker player.  Cheesy  Another Millennial friend had the brains to hop aboard in 2013. We attended Vitalik Buterin's shitcoin white paper unveiling together at Decentral in January 2014. Needless to say we both took a pass.

My wife is Gen-X and regrets not getting in when she heard about it (before me!) in 2012. She needed the money for another enterprise.

Bitcoin may have been developed by mostly Gen-Xers (and some Boomers) but it crosses generational lines. It's not about age.

Besides their age, what do Buffett, Fink and Dimon have in common? They all have an interest in the status quo, specifically the legacy financial system.

It wasn't a cataclysmic event that extincted the dinosaurs. It was their failure to adapt to it. Many older species survived.

Of course, there are exceptions, but i disagree with your objection.
Buffet and Munger spewed too much hatred...P.T. called them 'sociopathic grandpa's'.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ko6K82pXcPA

Comparing to their 'crazy' calls re bitcoin, this is mild.
I am not a spring chicken myself, so have a right to discuss generations and age.

Maybe it is a call for boomers to mostly relinguish their grip on financial and other power.
Just retire already! A call to politicians over 75, financiers over 80.
I agree with this call (in general) and as a boomer, support it.

EDIT: gerontocracy is not because of their age in particular but because they are fossils in their thinking, but still have at least some power.

OT..a depressing read. Feeling unhappy about the long term meaning of it.
Hoped that once COVID is past (at least from the collective conscience), brighter future might ensue...and now this.
Not sure what is the place of bitcoin in potentially decade(s) long struggle.

TL;DR it might not stay only in Ukraine..and Russia will become linked to China as a minor partner/satellite.

We might be seeing the beginning of the end of the old imperial style Russia now, change can come about very quickly when the foundations start to crumble.

There's just a small problem i see:
Putin grew powerful in the shadow of the fall of the Sovjet Union. He, among many others in his back, experienced the fade of the SU as unjustified and cruel, and now it's perfectly reasonable that he (believes) is fighting for a good thing, the reestablishment of the good, old Union. Golden times will come again (and so on)...

Now imagine Russia under Putin ending as an imperial force, all the people under sanctions and poverty, without future visions, a whole nation in misery, just like North Korea, but on a higher scale. A nation's young generation, growing up under grief, with no future, because of the "bad western nazi imperium".
These times might create much more dangerous dictators than Putin.
And don't let us forget about China! Can Europe afford to lose Russia, as the "whore of Bejing"? I don't think so.

Imho, if Putin's regime finally fallls, Europe and the EU should embrace Russia as a part of europe, tear down ideological walls, bring more evenly distributed wealth to the country. As unrealistic as it might seem, it's the only long term solution to the Eurasian conflict. Of course, the EU has to adress their problems with corruption and become a way more serious government than they tried to put up so far. Otherwise the EU will start to crumble. That's why i think Russia should not be isolated after Putins regime ends. Otherwise when will they recover and start another war? 2030-2040?

Interesting opinion, but most likely not a majority one.
I am actually amazed that there might be a meet in Turkey.
I thought it would continue for longer but, hopefully, not.
