Gotta love it when
A thousand dollar jump up
Raises no comments

A thousand dollars,
In the greater scheme of things,
Is a jump for ants.

Guys ('n' gal), this is fine.

We are virtually pinned to $36k for a while now. Yes, it's boring. Yes, we want higher. But, just pause for a moment, and think. $36k. This is a stellar value. Remember that we were at $16k not too long ago. This is a 125% increase in two (2) months! Have we become too greedy?

The fact that the price holds strong above $30k should make us all ecstatic. Sure, we all liked it when it reached $40k+, but there's no need to rush it. GTCTTWW. Patience and HoDLing will reward us all very soon. We've waited patiently for 3 years, what's another 6 or 12 months?

Not selling a single sat.
May even buy some sats (already regretting that I did not, when we were at $16k).

HoDL.

buying 0.007 BTC ($250) seems a bit strange...

I'm a gay dude sent here from Planet Anus, to make everyone on Planet Earth homosexual, ushering in the Age of Aquarius.

How DARE YOU talk to me about strange.

If I had your corn I wouldn't mind being a degerate, filthy, COVID-infected gay (can I be Bi?), rusty pipe included. Yes, I admit it, I'm a BTC whore, I'd do anything for corn.

So, today, I did some degenerate sat stacking. Feelin' pretty decent. Looks like I'm gonna get filled @ $35,000 soon, at this rate. Orders placed all the way down to $33k.

Lots of deja vu doing this stuff. Don't like hitting targets more than 3x

Bob, it's good that you're stacking sats, actually I should be doing the same, it's just that I can't be bothered with the whole process of wiring the fiat and waiting for it to arrive at the exchange, etc., etc.

I wonder though. With so many coins you have (in the big hundreds or more, I'm sure), what's the point of buying $250 worth of BTC? Is this just for fun/entertainment purposes? Because, even when Bitcoin goes 10x (and it will), your $250 (or $1250) will become $2500 ($12,500). Just peanuts compared to the coins you have.

Not trying to criticize you or anything, just to get your point of view. Why not buy $100,000 (or more) worth of BTC straight away right now? I believe you must have that kind of fiat. That would be a move that would fit your stash and wealth level. $250 is just dust for you, isn't it?

On the other hand, "every little helps", and maybe we should all be doing that, no matter how large or small the amount. In fact, your post is seriously tempting me to wire a few $$$$ to buy more corn...

Sorry for getting a little personal, just being curious...

You're underestimating Bawb... or not following closely enough. He's been DCAing for quite a time already and don't let these tiny $250 buys confuse you. For example $250 x10 is $2500 and according to your calculations above if (when) BTC goes 10x $2500 will be $25000 which is not quite peanuts anymore. I wasn't counting but I guess Bawb bought much more than $250 x10 this time.  Cool

Yes, I see your point, but it's all relative. When his $250 x10 = $2500 becomes $25,000, his stash could be worth several hundred million dollars. What's  $25,000 compared to that?

In any case, I do believe we should convert any spare fiat we have to BTC, however small it may be. It's just that, when one has hundreds or thousands of BTC, buying 0.007 BTC ($250) seems a bit strange...

Guys, need to post some extreme memes/pics ASAP if there's any hope for serious PUMP action. Supergirls, LGBTTIQQ2SA, gaynime and rusty pipes permitted. I've got to admit I enjoyed Frahm's panty+celery paintings. Always had a thing for women of that era. No CCMF or Carolinas please, save them for $100k, when the fun will really start.

Are they protecting us Europeans from things that cannot be unseen?

There was nothing there to be unseen anyway.  It likely has more to do with the fact that the EU has the best animal protection and welfare laws in the world.  They wouldn't want you people getting any ideas about horses... other than eating them after they were humanely raised in captivity and euthanized for your nutritional requirements.

Of course we have the best animal protection laws in the world. We care about living beings. It's OK to have sex with horses as long as both parties are consenting adults. Did anyone ask the horse if sex was consensual? And how old was the horse? Fugging perverts...

When Bitcoin marches up to the expected and unstoppable stratospheric levels of 2021-2022, everyone that knows about it will go insane.

Both coiners and nocoiners.

For different reasons. Grin

That poor slob in Britain is still trying to get permission to search the landfill for his bitcoins. Worth 250 million.

I can't think about how much that could wreck someone's life.

Which goes to show that Bitcoin needs to be taken very seriously. "Be your own bank" is tough. If you're not organized, not backing up your stuff, not taking such things seriously, Bitcoin's going to bite you in ways you never expect. It's going to mess with your head and even drive you insane. Same goes for any of us. Remember to always safely keep backups of your paper wallets and seeds, and make sure you clearly remember your passphrases and PINs. Periodically check to verify that you actually have access to your coins, this will refresh your neurons. Keep your keys away from online devices. Never take your PC/mobile to the repair shop when you have crypto in it (which you shouldn't have in there anyway).

After so many years of being buried under so much organic garbage, the chances of him finding the HDD and being able to extract the data are very slim. Still, an HDD is supposed to be a sealed container, although I believe there's usually a "breather" hole somewhere on the case, don't know what it's for, maybe to equalize pressure. If that's the case, and garbage juices and moisture got in though that, it's pretty much gone I guess...

$250 million is a lot of money though, and can get things moving. If he manages to find the HDD, he should pledge to give a very generous percentage of that to anyone who can extract the wallet.

Good luck to him, he's going to need it, especially if he's unsuccessful.

BREAKING: Financial powerhouse Goldman Sachs to offer #crypto custody as early as 2021!

https://www.coindesk.com/goldman-sachs-to-enter-crypto-market-soon-with-custody-play-source

Wait... Crypto custody is a case of not-your-keys, right?

Doesn't matter. Not their keys. As long as this helps Bitcoin spread, it's good for us all. Those who understand will choose to keep the keys. The others can let companies take care of them.

Edit: Price picking up nicely (again). Let's hope this is the last rising edge to $40k, leaving it permanently behind, and climbing slowly and steadily towards 6-digit territory.

Speaking of Armageddon, no, it ain't coming anytime soon, don't mindrust it all like he did!
1556  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What do you guys think about MOVIE-TV politics?? on: January 14, 2021, 10:35:51 AM
I hate political correctness. What does that even mean? In a story, movie, game, show, whatever, there may, or may not be whites, blacks, Asians, gays, lesbians, thin, fat, tall, short, and every other combination. This is part of the story. But to FORCEFULLY add everyone in the mix, just to be politically correct, is totally wrong IMHO, and distorts the artist's intended creation.

We are (or should be) free to express ourselves in any way we want, as long as we do not cause harm to, or limit the freedom of anybody. If I'm a painter and I like black women, my paintings will contain black women. I don't want to be forced to add whites, Asians, etc. Same applies to any other preference. If people don't like my paintings, they can just ignore them.

I also don't agree with the race/gender percentage employment policies that are sometimes enforced in companies. If I have a company, I don't want to be forced to employ xx% whites, yy% blacks, zz% Asians, aa% men, bb% women, etc. I want to employ people based on their skills in relation to the job requirements. Whoever is more capable should get he job, regardless of gender or race.

Trump mad(e) history: Second Impeachment

Trump has been the best excuse for most American politicians not to do any work for years. Just whine and state orange man bad on Twitter every day. Job done for the day. Night night.
If there wasn't a pandemic going on with thousands of Americans dying every day the situation might be funnier.

On the upside, Bitcoin is up...  Cool

I can certainly guarantee that IF you had met the above girl at a social event and just mentioned your job, you'd be blown off. On the other hand, if you mentioned to

that same girl above that you had retired on BTC/Crypto....even if she was NOT a 'gold digger', I'd bet my own money she would then converse with you.

As they say in sales, the first step is to get listened to. Smiley

Brad

I can confirm this. About 4 years ago, I gave a lecture to my students about Bitcoin, and at the end of the lecture I gave some of them $1 worth of BTC. Recently some of those student (mostly female) are calling me to ask how I'm doing! Suddenly I became a popular figure!

Bitcoin does that!

Edit: Actually they don't give a fuck about how I'm doing, what they really want to ask is how to buy Bitcoin. To which I reply "Google it", I point them to Kraken (poor souls) and I end the conversation. I bet very few will actually buy any. I hope this will not come back to bite me with a $5 wrench, when 1 BTC = $500k... Got to spread some Kebab accident news soon.

Anybody know this idiot Stefan Thomas really exists? https://www.businessinsider.de/wirtschaft/finanzen/bitcoin-vergessenes-passwort-kann-viele-millionen-euro-kosten-a/?amp

Telling in the article how great banks and governments are and why bitcoin is not that great. Because he lost his password to 7002 bitcoins. Sounds like a another fake story from fakestream media to me.

If true, this Stefan Thomas guy has got to be the most stupid person on the planet. And his stupidity grows along with Bitcoin price... Sucks to be him.

Regarding IronKey, we use similar devices in my department, although they don't have any logos on them, and have h/w numeric keypads, like in the pic below. I checked IronKey, and it seems you need to run some s/w to enter the password, which is a disadvantage IMHO. I would prefer a device with a h/w keypad built-in, like this:

In other news, number seems to be going up. We need to break $40k ASAP. Now that I'm (probably) COVID-free, I need to see some action. Come on, Bitcoin, do something!

Do we have any consensus on the best place to start reading/watching for a non-tech bitcoin noob? Some A.Antanopoulos I think. Anything else for a quick starter?

I liked this talk from 2016, by Andreas Antonopoulos.

Generally, his talks are little gems, highly recommended.
1560  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 12, 2021, 07:27:03 PM

From the article:

"Parler’s site was a mess. Its public API used no authentication. When users deleted their posts, the site failed to remove the content and instead only added a delete flag to it. Oh, and each post carried a numerical ID that was incremented from the ID of the most recently published one."

"Another amateur mistake was Parler’s failure to scrub geolocations from images and videos posted online. Sites like Twitter and Google routinely remove such metadata from content posted by their users. The video files hosted on Parler, by contrast, were “raw,” meaning they still contained this information."

What is this? A social network for ants?
