1761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Swiss rail ticket machines to offer bitcoins on: October 28, 2016, 09:32:21 PM
That's definitely logical to put it somewhere with so much foot traffic. Good for them for taking the initiative! I hope it does well and other cou tries can see the value to expand bitcoin acceptance  Grin (I really only care about Canada haha. Others would be nice for overall adoption though.)
1762  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: How to change password in Blockchain ? on: October 28, 2016, 09:17:34 PM
But I think you shouldn't have to worry about it. Without the wallet ID nobody can hack your account. And if you set a protection, everytime you want to login on your wallet, a mail with a code will be send to your email. So, just keep your email safe and your wallet ID protected.

Bullshit. Don't use any online wallet ever. When are people going to learn this? Does it really take a theft of everything in your wallet to realize they're the crappies, least secure wallets ever? Seriously. Google it. Don't take my word for it. Blockchain.info is terrible for bitcoin losses and they blame their customers. What kind of idiot would trust their money with a company like that?

"Your credit card got stolen you say? Well that sucks. I would suggest you get a new antivirus software and start collecting up some money to pay us back."

"Um what the fuck? It's your incompetence that made me lose my money. Your shitty service has lost people thousands of dollars. Because it's your fault I expect you to pay me back."

"Nope. Eat shit and die. Bye" (paraphrasing of course)

Would you stay with that credit card company? Obviously not. But people accept it with blockchaon.info like they're the 'official bitcoin wallet'. Even the title of this thread. There is not a password on the Blockchain. You are talking about a website that may as well be imastealyourshit.com. They have nothing to do with the Blockchain. You got fooled. If you haven't been robbed blind yet then get the hell out of there!!
1763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Iceland vote for Bitcoin and Auroracoin? on: October 28, 2016, 08:59:33 PM
I'm starting to think there are no bitcoin users in Iceland. I have been trying to give away BTC for almost two months and have had no success. If anyone wants it, it's still available. Just go pick it up or make a deal with someone who can.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1610684

How is that still not taken!? My God! It feels like it's Beer ages at this point.

Bitcoin arouses most interest on poor countries and dissatisfied people.

People that aren't happy with their local laws, society and wants some faciilities on their lifes. I believe in Iceland the people live happy and aren't very interested in changing their currency or payment methods...

I don't have anything really against my local currency and don't necessarily disagree with anything going on in my country but I would still much rather use bitcoins because I believe in what they stand for more than a dollar.
1764  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-10-27] Barclays Shuts Down Bitcoin Publication’s Bank Account on: October 28, 2016, 04:16:41 PM
Fiat system gives banks way too much power.

Holy crap ya. That is absolutely ridiculous and I'm sure it's based on AML/KYC regulations (because that's what these always seem to be about). It's so annoying that these areas are so highly regulated when bitcoins can't be. So when you mix the two it's such a mess!
1765  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin just hit $675 on GDAX.....fasten your seatbelts on: October 27, 2016, 02:47:49 AM
It's been a little all over the map in the last 24h but wow, we're seeing some great increases. This is showing the true value of bitcoins now and not just the aftermath of a large hack. It's a win for everyone! Let's see if we reach an ath now!
1766  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan of 0.01 on: October 27, 2016, 01:41:03 AM
It's just never going to happen. Doesn't matter if you write it in perfect English because this is your first post. Show us you're trusted? Wtf? No. Just no.

No collateral no loan.
1767  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 0.05 loan on: October 26, 2016, 11:54:42 PM
Please sign a message from 1NDrW75zfKPuwh639825vbHbEVkKem5MSK which is a change address of your used in this transaction with ghibly73 back in March.

That would prove you are in fact the original owner of this account.

Ive explained this many times on here but I don't have a static address that Ive used in the past...the app I use for my wallet changes my address every single transaction...plus if I change my phone I download a brand new wallet as well.

I can prove that I own the paypal address from my paypal thread...but don't have an old address available that I can sign.

Paypal transaction from this sale (blocked out ghiblys and email for his privacy):

According to your trust this has been an ongoing issue for you. Why? It's the only way people on this forum prove that they're the original owners of an account. You already know that, so keep access to your old addresses.

You can sign from any address in an HD wallet on mycelium btw. Saw your post on zazarb's thread. So back up you're keys for the future because people will ask for this again if you need a loan in the future.

1769  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk no ads option on: October 26, 2016, 08:30:28 PM
I just found this interesting option when I wandering the "Modify Profile"

I've just googled it and then I found this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=868974.0)
it turns out that this option is just for Hero Member and above.

This is actually a nice, but I'm just wondering why is it only intended for Hero Member and above? Why not for every rank, or at least for a Full Member?
Is it because Hero Member has spent more time in this place, or for any reason?

Ads don't bother me at all, like others have said ads are the only way the forum can afford to survive. People who promote a signature campaign don't really have grounds to moan about forum ads.

Haha exactly. We're a society completely run on ads so I wouldn't ever disable them. It's their livelihood afterall. Maybe the button to remove ads should remove your ability to post a signature  Tongue that would give people less incentive to check the box off.
1770  Other / Meta / Re: Now people with a lower rank that Full Member can have an avatar ? on: October 26, 2016, 08:26:12 PM
Honestly whenever I see a newbie with an avatar I assume it's a sold/hacked account and have a look at older posts vs new posts. It's sad that's what it's come to but honestly a lot of these accounts have a ton of potential activity and scammers/spammers can pick them up relatively cheaply compared to an actual full/senior member.
1771  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: problem, my wallet is blocked what is happening? on: October 26, 2016, 08:21:35 PM
Now what exactly do you mean by blocked? Did transactions not go through? You you have transaction IDs or could you post the address you're trying to send from?
1772  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone know best and reliable bitcoin mixer? on: October 26, 2016, 04:36:09 PM
Am I the only one who thinks mixers are useless?

Everyone who has average skills can protect his privacy without using such services.

They're not useless at all. Rather than using a VPN or proxy constantly it's so much easier to just anonymously mix your coins. I would suggest everyone mix their coins regularly because why not? It's a small price to pay for financial freedom.
1773  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin, Gold and USD on: October 26, 2016, 04:30:38 PM
Well you have to have fiat to survive at the moment. My bank doesn't take bitcoin for the mortgage payment haha.

I'd say, in terms of what I need/use it's probably 80% fiat 20% bitcoin 0% gold (because wtf, who uses gold for anything?)
1774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's wrong with my current cold storage? - Weaknesses in cold storage methods on: October 26, 2016, 04:25:28 PM
Paper wallet being secure is definitely one of the biggest misconceptions in my opinion. First you need to BIP38 encrypt the private key, and you also need to store your keys on a proven secure metal.

It's as secure as any other documents you keep in your house I'm sure. I don't have people in my house that I don't trust so I'm not all that concerned about someone stealing a paper wallet from me!
1775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's wrong with my current cold storage? - Weaknesses in cold storage methods on: October 26, 2016, 02:51:57 AM
Hiding it behind math, that's like having a manual transmission to deter car-jacking; so crazy it actually works much of the time.

In North America that's very true but in a lot of European countries you'll almost never see an automatic vehicle. So it also depends how smart the people in your family or people in your house regularly are.

Now I didn't see anything on hardware wallets. Are we lumping them in with something else or not considering them cold storage?
1776  Economy / Reputation / Re: Known alts of anyone: User generated on: October 25, 2016, 07:01:02 PM
Another Atari Alt
Relentless serial scammer who keeps creating accounts.
Idk how to check TxID
Can someone do it for me? My address is :

Collateral=10$ Macy's gift card, my account and Paxful account
Repay 80% interest

I've had two previous loans in the past and they were fulfilled

3N6Jx9WBwx28tQ3a22CWqTfhNHxs13DNMk

Again I say I wonder what his next user name will be?

That's what happens when someone becomes addicted to gambling.

Archived for future reference. http://archive.is/q7d6x#selection-7488.1-7727.116 (their post, not yours Wink )

It should be fairly obvious when he makes a new account anyways.

Scans digital goods section. 14 gift cards at 40%. Yelling at people who call him a scammer/theif. Make 10 threads for loans while simultaneously making 15 threads trying to sell that account for $5, $3.50, $2, $1, $.01 you know the drill!

Or when he uses the same address because he's a complete moron hahaha.
1777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks plan to hoard bitcoins to pay cyber ransoms on: October 25, 2016, 06:41:52 PM
A simpler solution would be to have mandatory automatic backups of everything at work. I know of rabsomware where they wanted a certainly amount to decrypt some files that they had been encrypting without the owner's knowledge.

There's no point in sending the bitcoins though because even if you do who's to say you'll get your files back?

And as previously stated, this is very old news. It didn't make a din the price and I wouldn't expect a surge because of it (although we've had some nice rises lately Wink).
1778  Economy / Digital goods / Re: 10.51$ Macy's gift card for 3.50$ btc on: October 22, 2016, 07:57:32 PM
Looks likeDrHappyPants got scammed and left you some negative feedback about it. What's up with that? Scamming for $3.50? Wow you're shadier than I originally thought. Care to explain sketchy?
1779  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A warning I read about bitcoins I dont understnad on: October 22, 2016, 07:43:42 PM
Your xpub key is your master public key. No don't share it because if someone ever found the private key to any of your addresses within that HD wallet they could easily generate any other of your addresses. Sharing your private key would be a bigger issue because then anyone can spend your bitcoins.

On a side note, blockchain.info is horribly unsecure and I would suggest a desktop/non Web wallet such as bitcoin core, electrum, bread wallet, mycelium or a hardware wallet / paper wallet made offline on a secure system. They're actually secure options and your bitcoins can't be stolen from blockchain.info like soooo many other people's have in the past. Just google it. It's frustrating that anyone still uses them. If a bank lost your money would you still bank with them when they tell you it's your fault? Not a chance. Well with bitcoins you don't need these asshole theives, you can store them on your own, however you want. Get your coins out asap. They're just as vulnerable as any exchange you see on the news that's been hacked.
1780  Other / Meta / Re: feature for bitcointalk to avoid scams on: October 22, 2016, 04:06:40 PM
Why give them negative trust for a week when it shows that if they changed their email and / or password on their trust profile for a month? They've already implemented a way better system than what you're proposing, so I'll assume Theymos is going to pass on this one Wink
