1821  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Butterfly labs single SC on: February 26, 2013, 09:53:07 PM
Looks like something at 60G in May will only make about $15 or less per day. And that's probably an aggressive guess. Something that cost $1500+ whatever crazy shipping cost will take a very long time to pay the device off. 4 months to pay it off, but within those 4 months you will be getting back less...so maybe 6 months to get your money back just to pay for the unit. Maybe at that time you could make a couple dollars a day. That's about it.

1822  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Where to order ASIICS? on: February 26, 2013, 09:32:00 PM
Just went to order an Avalon and they are OUT OF STOCK. Will there be a batch #3, and do you thin it would even be worth it at that time?

1823  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Are Avalon's hard to use or setup compared to Butterfly? on: February 26, 2013, 09:28:07 PM
I can get around a command line pretty well and operate Linux pretty good. If that's all this machine is using then I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get by. What I'm really trying to figure out is how does cgminer or other pool programs recognize the unit? Is the unit hooked up to your computer via USB or Ethernet somehow? Just trying to learn how it connects and how the unit is administered. I saw the pictures, but was too hard to see the connections.

1824  Bitcoin / Hardware / Are Avalon's hard to use or setup compared to Butterfly? on: February 26, 2013, 08:14:08 PM
Do you need to know any programming or how to code anything to setup an Avalon miner? Is it as easy as downloading the miner program and setting up a worker and ahead you go? Does anyone know what would go into setting one up, and what you need to know or BUT beforehand? Thanks.

1825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Coinbase - passed all verifications still 10btc / day limit on: February 25, 2013, 09:52:00 PM
Just passed the last 30 day wait. I'm still at 10/btc a day. I was told and read once I pass all the verifications I will have that limit raised to 100 btc/ day. What's up here?

1826  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC owners... on: February 25, 2013, 09:49:11 PM
Hi,

It's around 8.2648 BTC(as per bitcoinx.com) per day as per the difficulty level 3,651,012.00, when they mine their own. if they use any pooled mining then less minimum 3% fee.

it will be changed in next few days. b'coz the difficulty level will be changed to 4,281,991.00(in next 665 blocks solved as per bitcoinwatch.com) then it goes to 7.0469 BTC per day. now the blocks has been solved approximately 8.21 per hour.  this will be solved with in next 80 hours(approx). which means approximately happen in 4 days from this time.

then the earning will be goes to 7.0469 BTC(as per bitcoinx.com) per day.

Hope my answer will compromise you.

thankyou

Regards,

Anto

Thanks guys very much. I really didn't know there were other topics out there since they just came out. My bad, sorry about that. I'll take those numbers, pretty good in my book. Are the avalons really hard to setup? Don't they come with software or anything, drivers for Windows or anything like that or they just go through your USB port?
1827  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Where to order ASIICS? on: February 25, 2013, 07:12:11 PM
I was one of those who ordered from basic...

What do I do now? Who to order from?

You have two choices.

  • Avalon delivered shit and will probably do so again
  • BFL might deliver shit, but anything they deliver will have lower operating costs
Avalon delivered and some people have them why are they shit?
The Avalon miners are not very noob-friendly. Serious, if you don't know exactly what you're doing, I would not recommend buying them. Also, they are huge, noisy, and use over 600W of power. BFL's SC Single is set to use 60W.

Yep huge and make all of this NOISE !!!

CaCHIN$...CaCHIN$ ...every hour your are disturbed by money going into your account ~$14 per hour ...more than my job @ McDOnalds ...lol

You are seriously getting $14/hour return on your Avalon?

1828  Bitcoin / Hardware / Avalon ASIC owners... on: February 25, 2013, 07:04:23 PM
Anyone with an Avalon ASIC unit would you be willing to let us know what your daily return is right now? Approximate if any.
1829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Blockchain support tells me to come here? on: February 02, 2013, 03:27:51 AM
I opened up a support ticket through Blockchain's website. I asked about their transaction fees and stuff like that. I'm unable to send the exact amount of the bitcoin in my wallet. They for some reason forwarded me to this public forum. I don't know why they would do that because anyone can say what they want, even if it is the wrong information...then apparently Blockchain doesn't care to provide adequate support it seems. That's pretty lame.

1831  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / The new Avalon miners that just came out and for sale? on: February 02, 2013, 03:21:09 AM
When someone receives one of these devices, do you need to program it or custom make it? Or can I just run a miner program and join a pool like most people do?

I've been reading the Avalon thread and it is more confusing then anything I've ever read.

1832  Economy / Services / Transaction fees when using diff services.... on: February 01, 2013, 02:10:02 AM
I have a question about when sending coins to different places. Just yesterday I ran into a problem. Just as an example. If I have 10.345 bitcoin in my blockchain wallet and want to send it to another place I'll setup an order and then try to send 10.345 coin. Blockchain won't let me send that exact amount. I always have to send a very smaller amount, like 10.33 or something. Are there transaction fees added on automatically to every one or something? And is the fee the same on all wallets?  I know on my local wallet there is a .001 fee there that can't be changed. Just trying to find out about what these fees are.

Thanks
1833  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I have some money. Which ASIC should I order? on: January 29, 2013, 04:17:41 AM
Here's my two nonce:

BTCFPGA - Gone tits up, issuing refunds as fast as they can. I have received my refund.

Avalon - This is obviously a scam.

DeepBit - Failed project, possibly also a scam.

Butterfly Labs - In regular communication with their customers. If I were buying now, I'd buy with them. I have an order with them that I have not requested a refund for.

If you are going to buy an ASIC, remember it's just for the adventure/academic pursuit of participating in the Bitcoin phenomena. Do not be fooled into using Bitcoin as an investment.

Avalon is a scam? What makes you say that?
1834  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 29, 2013, 04:02:46 AM
How can you actually buy one of these Avalong ASIC miners?

I went to their website and it is just an email subscription list or whatever. Are they even for sale?

1835  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase limits... on: January 29, 2013, 03:04:15 AM
This thread appears to be a FUD campaign against Coinbase.

I signed up with them completely ignorant of practically all things Bitcoin. I had no issues understanding the limits prior to signing up. I had no issues purchasing Bitcoins. I've had no issues whatsoever.

But then, I do this thing called due diligence. And for those time I don't do the due diligence I get butthurt at myself not the other guy.

And for some reason no one has been able to point to the URL that explains all this information that everyone seems to know here. If you had no issues with the limits prior to signing up then you apparently had no questions about or don't care. I've just browsed their entire site and still can't find anything regarding the details. If Coinbase is around, then please send us the URL on this information. Having people just blart out that they know about it and have no problems is great, but if you don't have the details from Coinbase themselves it doesn't really mean much.

1836  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: FastCash4Bitcoins - over 220,000 BTC purchased - just 2.99% below spot on: January 28, 2013, 06:08:50 AM
I'm trying again with a small amount and have a question. My order went from funded to confirmed. Approximately how long does it take to hit my Dwolla account? Hours? Days?

Thanks

All dwolla orders have been paid.  To answer your questions they are paid in batches usually it is within 4-6 hours (and often much quicker than that) unless there is nobody from the staff online/awake.  Unlike the blockchain we do occasionally eat and sleep.

Ok thanks. I think a couple of hours later it did get sent over to Dwolla.
1837  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: blockchain.info wallet impossible to login????? Very worried right now on: January 28, 2013, 06:05:49 AM
I can't login to my blockchain wallet.. There is no box where you can enter the password anynmore. When i try to login it says "You must enter a Two Factor Authentication code" . Am I screwed now? I have only my wallet identifier and my password to login.. Is this the end of blockchain.info? Have they gone scam and robbed us?

I've had this same thing happen to me. I have posted the problem here in the forums a couple of months ago. I also sent Blockchain messages asking for help and they of course could not help me. Finally, someone with the same damn issue I had.

1838  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (Active Customer Support) on: January 28, 2013, 05:45:22 AM
Moneygram asked me if the fee was included and all I did was follow what the paperwork said from Bitinstant.

Hey, on the slip there are instructions to the merchant which include exactly what they need to type in.

The top reason for challenges at MoneyGram is that the Amount to Pay is entered incorrectly. The clerk needs to enter the Amount to Pay the payment slip with $0 MoneyGram fees - if they enter the $3.95 fee in the fee column, the payment won't pass the validation check.

Charlie

As I said we all followed what was on the paperwork and I had a very hard time. It is easy for someone to say follow the paper on a forum here but when you are in the store, dealing with clerks not knowing what to do that did follow what I gave them and still can't figure things out it is quite different. Even with the clerk on the phone with money gram they still had problems. Just from that one experience makes me hesitate completely from trying it all over again.
1839  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase limits... on: January 27, 2013, 09:15:44 PM
And how do you know this? I don't see this information anywhere?
https://coinbase.com/verifications

I guess people are just losing my point here. Of course it says there is a 10btc limit. You of course can't see that until you sign up. Then finding the information to raise that limit or have that increased isn't published.
1840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There has to be a better way (getting USD to BTC) on: January 27, 2013, 09:11:57 PM
As far as I know you can use BitInstant with any MoneyGram location, and those are virtually everywhere.

This is hell. It took me all day to do a simple cash deposit with this MoneyGram deal. No matter what amount I told the cashier I wanted to deposit it was the wrong amount and I had to go back to that stupid red phone and call Money Gram again. I had to visit 3 CVS stores and an Acme to get one stupid deposit done. Then all the fees on top of that it just killed me.

Yeah I did it the other day too.  Went back and forth to the red phone 3 or 4 times.  Cashiers had no idea what to do.  I eventually left and got my bitcoins from another source.

Never had to deal with the red phone myself. I used Wal-Mart, took the slip with me, went to the MoneyGram counter, and was done within minutes. I can actually get it done on my lunch break.

It's a little surprising that CVS clerks would have that much trouble.

Curious. You have to actually speak with a Money Gram agent first so they can put your transaction in the terminal so the cashier can process the payment. Are you saying there was a Money Gram rep at the Wal-Mart store?
