1681  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying spree going on? on: March 27, 2013, 05:30:17 AM
Shortage of bitcoins? That's what I like  Grin

Well not a shortage but a shortage from not being able to buy any from all my regular resources stand point. You'd think at $81 it would be easy to buy them. There has to be some insider stuff going on.

1682  Economy / Trading Discussion / Buying spree going on? on: March 27, 2013, 05:20:46 AM
I buy BTC when I need them, so I don't keep any on hand. I'm in need to buy some and all the places I normally use are out of bitcoin. And a few knock off places are charging like %15 above going rate. Trying to cash in on the shortage here. I'm guessing because the Avalon units went on sale two days ago this is happening. Those units are selling for 72BTC (approx $5800 USD) so it is hard to keep stock of coin I suspect. Is that why no one has BTC now?

1683  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: CryptoCurrent // Bitcoin Sales - Simple & Secure on: March 27, 2013, 05:18:02 AM
Yes, I sent a prepaid label in PDF form, but he didn't have tape or something.  No idea.

And no, he won't send the funds ... he says it's too much money but that if I keep doing business with him, he will "more than make it up" to me.  Who knows.

I suppose all that has to happen is to let people know BEFORE they send any cash that I will not be responsible for it if an empty envelope arrives, or if it gets lost along the way.  I'm not sure if I'm able to do prepaid Registered Mail labels, but my guess is that has to be done at the time of shipping in the post office itself in order for them to verify what goes into the envelope before they agree to insure it for a large amount.

With registered mail, it would be tracked from person to person each step of the way and then if something were to go wrong, the sender could take it up with the post office and get reimbursed (but only using Registered Mail and declaring the exact amount of cash).

Tell you what - this has been a rough month for CryptoCurrent!  lol.  Here's to a better April!  Smiley

I'm in the need to buy some coin and tried the site, but it seemed a little expensive. $40 difference on a 10 btc buy. I mean it really isn't that much difference but I wanted a larger buy and you only have $1k limit on your site, right? It is either I wait for my original supplier to replenish or I pay a higher fee. All depends on how much I want my BTC. There must be a buying spree going on since the Avalon miners went back on sale. I think that has to with a shortage of coin. Your fee is %5 off every BTC or the whole amount?
Thanks for quick response!!! Always very nice to have another, reliable (yet to see) BTC supplier up in here.
Good luck in April.
1684  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [Temporarily OUT OF STOCK] Bitcoins Direct - Private off exchange sales on: March 27, 2013, 04:58:53 AM
So no more for a guy like me that wants to buy $1000 or whatever is no more?

O, I see it...for the rest of the week. I didn't read that part before. I guess it is time to pay %5 now.
1685  Bitcoin / Hardware / If order AVALON batch #3 when to expect to get it? on: March 27, 2013, 04:35:46 AM
Is there a 2 month turn around or longer?

1686  Bitcoin / Hardware / Avalon batch 3 is almost $6000 on: March 27, 2013, 04:30:24 AM
Are people really paying this much for a miner? That's a shit load of money and if BFL ever delivers you'll be shit out of luck cause they'll pump out 200-300 units a day. Apparently Avalon is in it for the money, I thought they were here to protect the network. Hahaha, a little money on their lips and they got the greed bug.
1687  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: CryptoCurrent // Bitcoin Sales - Simple & Secure on: March 27, 2013, 03:01:45 AM
Today we received 3 cash orders ... one of which was an empty envelope.  It was not tampered with, nor was the label removed and replaced, so either someone stole the cash from the package miraculously, or the client sent an empty envelope knowing we would at least split the "loss" with them.  We did split the loss and sent $400 worth of btc, but this makes it clear that accepting payment via this method is not a reliable option for the time being.

If you've purchased using the overnight cash method with us before, we will continue to offer you the prepaid label.  However, until we figure out how to prevent today's situation, we won't be accepting cash in the mail orders from any new clients.

Which reminds me:

When you are shipping cash, please please please do not just pass the label and cash envelope to the postal employee and leave without making sure they actually put the cash envelope inside the Express Mail envelope.  Sad

So the buyer was legit and will send you the funds?
1688  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 GH/s] BitMinter.com [ASIC support: var diff, Stratum, GBT, rollntime] on: March 27, 2013, 02:58:19 AM
Is the server on a dedicated or VPS?
1689  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: CryptoCurrent // Bitcoin Sales - Simple & Secure on: March 22, 2013, 07:40:00 PM
We now accept cash deposits at Bank of America AND Wells Fargo!  We have a lot of clients, but not many from the forums here, so for a limited time, we are reducing our fee to 3% for any forum members who are willing to leave feedback in our thread.

What is the turn around time?

1690  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: FastCash4Bitcoins - over 275,000 BTC purchased - just 2.99% below spot every day on: March 22, 2013, 07:29:32 PM
I'm am so waiting for the day you guys come up with a site where your userbase can buy bitcoins. I've tried to purchase bitcoins today from three places and all three places were unable to process the transaction for whatever reasons. The only reason I didn't use or try to buy them from you was because I am unable to get to a bank to make a deposit.  After trying 3 times and striking out I've given up, I wish there was an easier way. Next time I'll try to plan ahead and just use TC and head to the 'el banko. Smiley

1691  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitinstant failed again... on: March 22, 2013, 07:23:30 PM
Every place I've tried today to buy bitcoins has failed. Coinbase this morning and now even Bitinstant. This is the error I get from their system:

500 - internal error

An internal error has occurred and the server can not handle your request. If you were attempting to perform a transaction then please contact support immediately for assistance. Technical details of the error have already been recorded by our system and will be analysed as soon as possible. We regret that for security reasons it is not possible to disclose more details on the precise details of this particular incident and we apologise for any inconvenience.

Are these places put together with bubble gum and duct tape?

1692  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase is an Honorable Company on: March 22, 2013, 07:18:25 PM
They may be honorable, but even with a verified/active account with a buying limit increased to 100 doesn't mean you can even still use their service. I'm trying to buy bitcoin from them again for the third time and now see this message:

Sorry, the maximum number of purchases on Coinbase has been reached at the moment. This is a 24 hour rolling limit with no specific start time. Please try again later. We'll continue raising this limit over time.

Their main goal as bitcoin site is to sell bitcoins. If users are unable to do that then I'm sure people will go elsewhere. It is like McDonald's not having any food left. Why stay open if you can't provide the service. Confuses me a little and that's why I've been trying to find a more realistic place to purchase bitcoins from where I don't have to take a trip to the bank everytime I want to do so. Maybe their having site problems or something?

So if I really needed bitcoin in a hurry this place would be at the bottom of the list. Not because I don't like them but because I couldn't count on them.

1693  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 22, 2013, 03:24:21 PM
Has Avalon sent a really nice fruit basket to Butterfly Labs to thank them for allowing them to be able to extract these rents from the market?   Do not get me wrong, I completely agree with what Avalon is doing as it makes perfect sense (and actually may make this a more orderly business as people will have to think for a minute before pulling the trigger).

Buy Bitcoins because they are going nowhere but UP as people will need to buy more than they expected.

I wonder if Avalon would still ask for 88btc if the price of BTC dropped to $40 or even less. Hey, as a group can we make that happen?

1694  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 22, 2013, 03:22:15 PM
Well, I thought I would jump into Avalon Batch three... but my jaw hit the floor when I saw the price. What the bloody hell?

Going all in on BFL seems like a better idea than this shit. $5k for a box that cost initally $1299. Someone decided they don't want customers.

It all turned into greed. Once someone gets their tip wet with a little money it changes them into someone else. I read previously that the Avalon creator did this project to protect the Bitcoin network/community, but seeing a %400 increase in price for a unit that really only cost $1500 or so is not protecting the Bitcoin network/community but just being flat out greedy. It is very easy to see that.
1695  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 22, 2013, 03:19:30 PM
/damn i though it will be 2000$ or something around it i think i will pass it  Cry Cry.

Hehe, we have to gambles now:

pay 90 btc for a unit you know exists, and that you will received sometime around June (and maybe sooner!)
pay 20 btc for a BFL unit you don't know if exists, and that they tell you that you will receive in July if ordered now (and most likely later!)

Both of them seems quite risky to me, but if I had enough coins bought cheap, I would take both Wink

you would still be better off buying 5 bfl units in the long term, even if it were another month or two delay.

As much as I think BFL is incompetent this seems the best way to go.
1696  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 22, 2013, 03:13:20 PM
Is that $5000+ price definitive?

Looks like a bit of a radical hike to me. But I will believe they would set that price when I see it, to be honest.

Also, I'd have to pay VAT on top of that. I think I'd pass.

$1600 and I'm in.

Good luck to everybody.

I thought the maker of the Avalon was in it to protect the network and add to the community, not in it for the money alone. If indeed one unit that is 60-65GH/s cost $5000 and the previous price was $1400, then I'd say greed has now come into the picture here. Usually prices are supposed to go down because you can make newer units more efficiently and make less mistakes from the first ones.

You guys ever think of having wallets on your users accounts? So a user can send their fund to your system wallet there from all the different places they need to send then when they are ready to cash out do it right from there. Also in cases where there are small amounts. Sometimes I have multiple small amounts that do not reach the min requirement to cash out I'll usually send to my armory wallet, but if I knew I was going to cash that out I would have sent those fund to my FC4B wallet to prepare for the cash out. Still would need to send to the network at the end, but I was just thinking it may be a convenience, that's all.

We have no plans to become a eWallet in the near future.  I don't like the idea of needing to secure a large hot wallet of client coins.  Many clients have told us one reason they use us is specifically the 100% cold wallet policy.  We will focus on where we provide the most value and that is being the best direct broker of bitcoins.

The next major version of the site will separate the actions of exchanging and cashing out.  In your example above you could make multiple deposits.   Each deposit will be exchanged at the market rate at the time of the deposit.  When ready you can make a cash out request in the amount you wish.   By breaking the exchange and cash out functions into separate actions it will give clients a lot more flexibility.

It is a pretty major overhaul of the site so we are still looking at late April launch but I am really excited about the options it will bring to our clients.

Very cool. Thanks for the info. I like where it is going.

Any funds coming soon? No more funds available, must be a busy day or something.

1700  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for people to store some of the forum's money on: March 22, 2013, 02:41:00 AM
Looks like this forum is a money making machine here.

And that would be bad how ?

To receive money from donations to keep the site up and running is fine, even a little extra on top for the time doing it but making money off donations when everything is paid for and for the sake of just making money to me is unethical on a "free" forum. I just find it a little greedy, that's all. If users are blind and continue to donate then I guess no one can be blamed. Just something I don't fully agree with that's all. I would even donate myself IF the site needed it, but they have so much extra funds available they need multiple people to hold on to it.
