1641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / What's up with the chain today? on: April 03, 2013, 08:02:48 PM
I have a transaction that has been sitting UNconfirmed for 2 hours already. I see the bitcoin at the address where it is supposed to go, but no confirmations. I've never had to wait 2 hours, but usually I'll at least see a couple confirmations in 20-30 minutes. Is there something going on today?
1642  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What does Coinbase do right? What do they do wrong? on: March 31, 2013, 07:19:41 AM
It is a shame than Coinbase has dropped the ball so many times recently. They could have been so successful but whatever technical problems they have are ruining them. It is so easy to use and is an easy way to get BTC (despite the four or so days it takes)...however it is not a very usable service if they never have any BTC available.

They really need to change their home page to "WE ARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION" and figure out all their problems and not try to operate with the problems they have. They should not reopen until they can sell BTC again.
1643  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Apparently I owe Coinbase.com on: March 31, 2013, 07:17:26 AM
Coinbase is still in BETA. Dont forget this.

This isnt a huge multinational corporation with hundreds of employees.

Its a small startup with a few employees and some big ideas. They are doing very well to promote and expand BTC.

Coinbase isnt perfect yet, but its getting better day by day - they are figuring out a lot of complex stuff for the 1st time.

They are a bitcoin selling service that hasn't been able to sell bitcoin in a month or more. I think they need to pull the plug, regroup and figure out a plan. Then when they are ready to roll back out. Only take on customer's they are able to and not anymore. I do like their service but I also get frustrated when you hear/see nothing on a company that obviously has problems.
1644  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What does Coinbase do right? What do they do wrong? on: March 31, 2013, 07:12:06 AM
I'm a current Coinbase customer and up until this Month, I loved their service. But their lack of transparency really bothers me. As an entrepreneur myself, I can't stand when companies are opaque and don't provide top-notch customer service.

So fellow Bitcoin enthusiasts, what do you think that Coinbase does right and what do you think that they do wrong? Anything that you would like to see added or removed from their service?

Thanks,

JP

I signed up with Coinbase a while ago and have a fully verified account. I can buy up to 100BTC a day but there's the rub. You can't buy bitcoin with Coinbase! I've tried to buy coin many times the last month and all times their site just says they have went over their limit. Whatever. They are a bitcoin selling service that can't sell bitcoin. That statement right there should set alarms off.

1645  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitinstant failed again... on: March 31, 2013, 07:08:02 AM
Why do all of the BTC business all have to fail at the same time?  We have Coinbase issues, CoinLab  transition delays, Mt. Gox API failures/poor management, and now BitInstant...
[/quote

There was a big buying spree in the past few weeks and I had trouble myself getting coin at some places. It did seem very odd all at once everyone started to buy bitcoin. Is there such a thing as "insider info" with BTC? Is there a way to know if prices will rise or drop before it happens?
1646  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Thinking of reselling Avalon batch 2 or 3 because BFL will "ship"? on: March 31, 2013, 07:00:46 AM
I'm kind of hoping a little BFL does ship soon. I think Avalon got too greedy in pricing their units so high and I'd like finally to see people that dumped $8000 for an Avalon unit get a little nervous now. I mean if you have $8000 to spend on something that hasn't been built yet then you are pretty well off and nothing is going to happen to you no matter what happens.

1647  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: March 31, 2013, 06:57:22 AM
First of all guys, it's the weekend.  Do you work 7 days a week?

Also, there is the fact that they are using portion of batch #3 money to buy an SMT machine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMT_placement_equipment

Now, buying that machine means that they have a huge project in programming said machine, testing it, and incorporating it into the assembly line for batch #2 and batch #3, which may take a few days or weeks on its own.  But each day that is spent getting the SMT-based assembly line set up will save several days in total assembly time for all pre-ordered units.

So the best thing for them to do, since they just got the $5-6 million to upgrade production, is to get the rapid assembly line finished, then return to the work of building and shipping units.  I am guessing that is what is going on, since Avalon team is all about integrity, being fair to all customers, and securing the bitcoin network by distributing hashing power fairly.

It might hurt a few people that are late batch #1 or early batch #2 customers individually, but it will help the network and all their other customers to first increase production capacity, then assemble all pre-sold units and ship prior to announcing the sale of upgrade modules (batch #4) and plans for gen. 2.

I'm still baffled about how Avalon all started and where they are today. I read the only reason why they even started to build an ASIC device was to protect the network and diversify devices all over the place. When I saw the %400 increase in price on batch 3 that notion of just wanting to protect the network pretty much gave way to greed. It is completely legal but in my opinion I think they could have sold batch 3 for a little less and let some of the less fortunate people in. It is ok if they only want to cater to the people that can afford lots of money, just didn't sit right with me. From protecting the network to making as much money as possible. That's a big swoop.

It always makes us smile when we see the confirmation email come through and are able to initiate the transfer within minutes!  Cheesy  Sometimes it takes a few hours, but we process orders as quickly as possible, and really enjoy hearing that clients are happy with our service!

Pretty soon if you don't have the BTC transferred in 30 minutes you'll get complaints! People get spoiled with such fast service and always expect instant responses. I just hope everyone understands even 1-3 hours is great service. This really sure beats messing around with Dwolla/Mt.Gox/Bitinstant.

Keep up the great work guys.

Thanks for the offers. I was able to find a more secure, less worrisome method to buy my coins.

How'd you manage that?

Read a couple of my last posts and you'll see. Thanks for offering.

1650  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for people to store some of the forum's money on: March 31, 2013, 06:34:44 AM
I guess if people keep donating they'll keep taking in the money. Even though they don't need it, and have said they haven't asked for it, but they also haven't said they don't need it either. Not saying they don't need it is a form of greed I think.

All details of this scam are here:

Definitely a scam. Weeks ago they said they have many in STOCK ready to ship. Well, what happened with those?
%100 SCAM. DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY AWAY BLINDLY OR LISTEN TO PEOPLE WITH 10 POST COUNT.

I found CC here and decided to give them a try today. Everything went perfect and I'll be happy to use them again, very soon! The Bitcoins were transferred very quickly and they sent me an email letting me know they were transferred with a direct link to blockchain so I can easily check out the transfer. Nice little touch.

Smiley  Thank you for the review, opentoe!  We hope to see you again soon.  Smiley

Yes, you did see me soon, I did another bitcoin buy yesterday and it was just as perfect as the first. I only live 10 minutes away from the bank. The bitcoins were already in my account when I got home with a couple confirmations. Very nice!

1654  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: CryptoCurrent // Bitcoin Sales - Simple & Secure on: March 30, 2013, 09:59:07 PM
Felt so good about the first, I did another bitcoin buy from CryptoCurrent and bitcoins were transferred literally within minutes! Yep, all my skepticism is over. I feel very comfortable with these guys.

Keep up the great work.

don't see mt.gox as an option on bitinstant anymore.
I'm guessing they pulled it temporarily to catch up with orders and such.

If BitInstant can't scale up as Bitcoin becomes a world class currency, then they deserve to fail.

Me personally?  I am finally doing what I should have done - I am verifying my MtGox account.  Then I can fund directly from Dwolla and won't have to pay 20 per $1000.  This is horse-shit.

But you are still going to use Bitinstant, right? Also when you dump funds into Dwolla they hold them for 7 days. You can't do anything.

1656  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (Active Customer Support) on: March 30, 2013, 09:44:47 PM
no...i checked my block chain wallet and the funds finally showed up at the correct destination address

Dude, how could you ever know if the funds were sent to a wrong BTC address? Are you telling me you somehow knew what this "wrong" address was by guessing it? Are you telepathic?

Today was my first Bitcoin buy with Crypto and I have to say it was great doing business with them. I've purchased thousands of dollars worth of Bitcoin with other services and this has been one of the easiest and quickest. I'll for sure recommend their service and use them again with no hesitation.

Thanks Crypto!

What's up with this old SMF version running here while the "forum" has over $70,000 worth of USD in BTC ready right now to make improvements? I think too much time has gone into trying to hold onto the BTC for a long term then actually using it for it's real intentions. One moderator already said all they used BTC for was to re-new the domain name. That was $20. There is a lot left, let's see some improvements. I mean people, we all know SMF is free right which is what this forum uses.

1660  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Miners! Did Bitfloor give you the shaft? on: March 28, 2013, 05:11:34 AM
Last fall Roman claimed he was hacked.  He had all of the bitcoin on deposit at Bitfloor in 1 hot wallet, and 25 000 Bitcoin were gone.  Instead of going bankrupt, he decided to lock all of the bitcoins on account there as 'Held' and continue operating.

If you had bitcoin with Roman on that day, you became an unwilling creditor to Roman on his terms, where were, and are: I will pay you back someday, maybe, and you get no interest, and I won't allow trading of my debts.  To date, he has made one tiny payment and has not committed to any schedule to pay the remainder back.  In fact, he will never be able to pay 25000 bitcoin back, unless the price crashes.

There has been no proof provided of the supposed hack.

People continue to trade bitcoins on his site every day.  I'm sure they will be shocked when their is another 'security breach' and all their money is gone.  Or FinCEN shows up and shuts Bitfloor down and all their money is held for 4 years while the lawyers sort things out and carve their fees out of the money on deposit.

Holy shit man. This is fact and people still trade there? He basically stole money from people and then opened up doors again for selective scamming again?
