1881  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor One: How To Retrieve Recovery Seed from Wallet? on: September 07, 2021, 09:54:24 PM
I guess the only thing I don't get is that if someone is someone have found my trezor and have my pin code to log in, then they already have access to all the conis, so I guess I don't fully understand that from that point - you can make a back-up copy. In the Wallet Exodus for example, one can do this. "Reveal Seed"

That's true to an extent, but for security reasons Trezor does not offer a feature to display your seed phrase other than when it first generates it.

If you set up a Bip39 passphrase then the trezor and the pin are still worthless to a presumed thief.  The Trezor is all open source, so theoretically someone with access to the hardware wallet could hack the device and gain access to the funds even without the pin, but a passphrase would prevent that particular attack vector.  I suggest you educate yourself on the set-up and use of the passphrase feature.

It clearly says I need the Recovery Seed before making the update.

It's just a warning letting you know that if you've lost your seed phrase you will not be able to recover your funds if something goes wrong during the firmware update.  99.9% of the time the firmware updates work like a charm and your funds will be safe, but don't take that as me suggesting you ignore the warning.  If you don't have access to your seed phrase, or you feel it may have been compromised you should move your funds to another wallet, set up another seed phrase on your Trezor, write it down, store someplace safe, then move your funds back to the Trezor.

What!? I don't have any. Previous poster said they only reveal it once. That is different from other wallets, like Exodus.

The Trezor allows you to import any Bip39 seed regardless of where it was generated.  If you've generated other seeds in the past you can import them.  You can only use one at a time, however.

What do you mean import seed words? I dont have the seeds.... That is the whole issue!?

If you no longer have access to your seed phrase then you should definitely move your funds.

I wanted to move them to Exodus but apperently I cannot send to an address starting with bc1.

I find this odd.  What software are you using to access your Trezor?

I have a thought that will not appeal to Arsenal fans, but will probably benefit the club itself. I think it would be useful for Arsenal to retire from the PL to the minor league for a year to revive, although even under the current circumstances it seems unlikely because by and large they only need to win 10 games. But if this happens anyway, even though it will benefit the club, it will also be a serious blow to Arsenal's self-esteem as one of the founding clubs of the PL.
That drop to lower league for revival purposes is not an option in England. There is enormous difference in money that clubs in Premier League get so relegation would cause much more problems. No matter how badly Arsenal plays they have more than enough qoulity to finish in the middle of Premier League and I am quite sure their revival will start in a couple days with Norwich game.

I certainly hope you're right.  I would happily take no points in the pool to be wrong about this one.  I'm just frustrated seeing the team drop in the table year after year, and I've lost faith in Arteta.

Of all the teams in the Premier League, Arsenal has had the longest run in the various forms of England's top-tier soccer league.  According to Wikipedia the last time the Gunners were relegated was during the 1913 season.  As an Arsenal fan, I can assure you that's a track record the team and the fanbase are very proud of.  I'm sure Arteta, the players, and Kroenke will do everything within their power to avoid relegation.

Who drafted Jared Goff?

 Cheesy
He is listed as a FA in our league, we may have some newbies, myself included, and even I could see Goff is probably going to underperform.

I like Goff, he's a local boy (he and I are from the same home-town,) so I root for him just because of that.  The Rams are obviously a good team, but I doubt that Stafford is going to make as big of an impact as that blowhard Stephen Smith is predicting.  Stafford does have a bigger arm than Goff, but other than that, they're playing style isn't so different.  They're both primarily pocket passers, but Goff is more mobile, and his roll-out passes are always executed well in my opinion.  I would love to see him to take the Lions to 10 consecutive super bowl victories just so I can see Sean McVey's grimace grow into a permanent scowl.

And speaking of newbie questions I am happy with my lineup, however there is nothing else to do? I mean just by virtue of being on my starting squad that is enough for those players to begin to accumulate fantasy points?

Yep, that's how it works.  The productivity of the players in your "Starting Lineup" will result in fantasy points.  It's a good idea to look at the projected points, but don't treat them as gospel as they can often be wrong.  Try to consider the opponent and how they may try to minimize the impact of your top-flight receiver, for example.

An anecdotal story, for you:  Jerry Rice's last game as a 49er came against the Bears (I was there!)  The Bears double-teamed Rice all day, expecting him to be targeted regularly and put up big numbers.  That day, a relatively unknown Terrell Owens caught 20 passes for a million yards, and 100 touchdowns.  I think that's what happened, anyway.  I wasn't the designated driver that day.  Grin

Still available, you should definitely dump your bench warmer Rodgers for Goff Grin

Yeah, NO!

In all reality, there's always a sleeper who goes disregarded this time of year.  Goff had a tough time last year, and the Lions have had a rough... existence, but stranger things have happened.

1886  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide] on: September 06, 2021, 08:11:45 PM
~

The Electrum development group has started issuing signatures from multiple developers, so now the signature files have different names than the executable file.  That's what's causing your problem.  I'm sorry I haven't had time to update the OP with the new instructions yet, but look at post number 57 of this thread.  nc50lc shows how to configure Kleopatra so it'll prompt you to select the .exe file separately.  Once configured properly, and you double-click an .asc file, Kleopatra will open a dialogue  box.  There under the field marked "Signed Data" brows to and select the electrum .exe file.
1887  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT1 and DT2 members who have negative feedback (or are banned) on: September 06, 2021, 07:15:44 PM
I guess Lesbian Cow has had a DT neg on their profile for a while now, but that doesn't seem right to me.  I have a custom trust list and very rarely check Theymos's update thread, so I have no idea who's on DT anymore.  I assume it was frankbitcoin's feedback that resulted in the DT neg?  If that's the case, I think it's unjust based on the reference links--I can't see where Lesbian Cow is even involved in that drama.

I think you're right.  I have frankbitcoin in my exclusions, but I was bumped from DT1 this month so I lost my vote.  It looks like Actmyname also has him excluded, but he was bumped this month as well.  According to Bpip nutildah excluded frankbitcoin this morning, and now Lesbian Cow's DT trust page shows no red tags.

I'm also surprised that Lutpin is still on DT, but whatever.  He's gotten a lot of positive feedback, but his most recent actions (last year if I recall correctly) on the forum were not positive at all, which is why I gave him a neg.

I remember that fiasco with the signature campaign payments.  I recall he had some personal issues that affected his ability to send the payments in a timely manner, but he got around to it eventually.  I'm sure it was frustrating for those who relied on those payments, and I understood their anger at the time.  By the way; that was nearly three years ago now.  Time flies, lol.

As for his position on DT; being an unreliable campaign manager doesn't necessarily mean the reviews he's left for others are inaccurate.  Considering his tenure on the forum, and his contributions in the past, I'm not surprised that he's still trusted by many of the old guard.
1888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: September 06, 2021, 06:01:41 PM
So I noticed this guy Trey Lance sitting on the waiver wire looking all lonely and shit and said Hey, I got a bench spot maybe I'll give that poor guy a home!

So I heard this guy is pretty good, how come he was on the wire when all you guys drafted two QB's Huh

He fractured his index finger on his throwing hand, so he's listed as out for the opener.  Not to mention that Garoppolo is listed as the starter, and rightly so.  When Garoppolo is healthy the 9ers win games, and unless he goes down I don't think Shanahan will make Lance the starter this year.  I hope that's the way it plays out, anyway.  I have a lot of hope for Lance's future with the team, but I do believe he'll be better off taking a year to learn the offence.  Shanahan's playbook is intricate and extensive, so at this point Garoppolo's knowledge of the offence is the only thing I see standing in the way of Lance becoming the starter.  I believe Lance is smart enough to get a grasp of it soon enough to play this year, but I'm guessing a healthy Garoppolo will keep the job.  If you have an open bench spot, it might be a gamble worth taking.  I certainly would have considered taking him later in the season depending on how Garoppolo plays.

So looks like That Moron Cam couldn't even learn the playbook and the rookie was trying to help him!
The exact opposite of what was supposed to be happening. I can't believe how many Cam lovers out there have no clue what a worthless piece of garbage that guy is.

Rob Ninkovich: Mac Jones was helping Cam Newton learn the playbook
https://sports.yahoo.com/rob-ninkovich-mac-jones-helping-210616840.html

Why does that not surprise me?  Cam has always been a natural athletic scrambler, but that only takes you so far in the NFL.  And at his age, it's obvious he can't rely on his athletic ability anymore.  I don't know if he's incapable or just unwilling to put in the effort in to learn how to lead an offense.  Obviously that's not going to fly with Belichick, or many other coaches.  I predict he's seen his last snap in the NFL.
1889  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ElectrumX - extremely long sync time on: September 06, 2021, 05:11:21 AM
36.5 hours to sync ElectrumX is fairly slow. Even electrs on my Raspberry Pi 4B didn't take anywhere near that long to build it's databases.

It seems rather slow by modern internet standards, but compared to a torrent it's not crazy.

That's interesting. I wonder what is the bottleneck in my system then. At first, I thought that the USB SSD was the culprit but it should still be faster than your HDD. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with my setup?

I agree there's something about your set up throttling your sync.  I have no experience with Proxmox, but I know VM environments can be finicky.  I imagine you've scrutinized the setting for anything that could hinder the connection.  Did you have to sync core on the system, and if so did that take long as well? Have you tried with a different VM environment?
1890  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ElectrumX - extremely long sync time on: September 04, 2021, 08:23:33 PM
I just set up another system to run bitcoin core and ElectrumX.  My other system has a 1TB SSD that I want to repurpose, so I decided to set up another system before taking the first one down.

Machine: Dell Optiplex
Processor: Intel Core i5-4590 @ 3.30GHz
Ram: 16GB Total - 4x 4GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda STX-720011
OS: Ubuntu Server 20.04.3

I didn't bother copying over either of the data bases, I wasn't in that big of a hurry.  I still need some components for my other project and I'm waiting until those go on sale in the next few months.  I used addnode to add my other server, so bitcoin core took about 24 hours to synchronize, probably not much longer than it would have taken to transfer 411GB over the LAN anyway.  I was asleep for a third of that time and at work for another third, so it didn't hurt much.

ElectrumX took a little longer to synchronize, about 36.5 hours.

Code:

Seems at least one other person has run into this exact issue with Ubuntu Server and LVM: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1269493/ubuntu-server-20-04-1-lts-not-all-disk-space-was-allocated-during-installation

The default setup seems to only create a 200GB partition and you need to faff about extending it manually. Thankfully, they also list a solution Wink

Nice, I'll make sure to look this up if I run into this again.

I was able to configure the the whole hard drive as ext4 partition during the reinstall.  I just goofed around with the partition settings until I figured it out; I had to delete the partitions, and create a new one to mount at /.  A dialogue pops up and lists the available unpartitioned space and asks how much of it you want to use; you have enter the desired disk space manually.

Like myself, a user in that askubuntu thread seems to think that it might be a default strategy of only using a small portion as the "root" partition, so you can setup the rest as data only partitions etc.

I suspect you're right, that was my initial thinking as well.  I can see that bein helpful in some situations.

Edit: Just realized the East division is completely stacked and I have the worst chances to make the playoffs, we have not even began playing and I am already close to being eliminated, so unless my sleepers hit and Wilson can play the whole season and not just the first half then it is already game over for me. Sad

Lol, those projections will change week to week.  It looks like you have about as much chance to make the playoffs as anyone in the western conference.  Our chances are all below 50%.

Wheelz and Nutildah had a great draft, but I'm satisfied with mine. I had planned to draft another RB with my third pick, but took Metcalf instead, and was tempted by Allen for my fourth pick.  I should have compensated on the next round, but again temptations got in the way.  None the less, I think I'm in a good position.  Realistically, it's hard to screw up a draft with only 8 players in the league. Next year I'll make a point of mimicking wheelz and drafting RBs in the first three rounds.

i have already taken a look at the next matchday and there is one game that is already of great importance
arsenal vs. norwich
both clubs are still without points and especially arsenal london is lagging behind its goals. if they won't win the game against norwich city either, there will be a lot of trouble there.

I predicted a tie for that game in the pool, but I really hope Norwich wins.  Three games into the season and Arsenal has yet to score a goal, I want heads on spikes (figuratively, of course.)  If no action is taken after this start, maybe a loss to a promoted team will make Kroenke notice that changes are necessary.  I've never seen Arsenal have such a slow start, and at this rate they look like a team bound for relegation.

Maverick Vinales is already back, which I didn't expect.  I figured he'd be out until next season, but he's been practicing with Aprilia this past week and should be racing for them next weekend at Aragon.

Since Yamaha claimed he sabotaged the bike, I expected some sanctions or fines by FIM.  I haven't seen any explanation by Yamaha of what he actually did to the bike to make it malfunction, maybe they don't want to divulge the information for secrecy reasons, but those are pretty damning allegations.  Maybe we'll get the entire story some time after the season.  In all honesty, if the allegations are true, I'm surprised that any team would hire him.  He had already signed a contract with Aprilia for the 2022 season, but I'm sure there are clauses that could let them void the contract if they choose.

Draft day is here, gentlemen.  Be there or be square.

Jaguars will pick him up in 2027 as a tight end.

The Jaguars should pick him up now, because I predict Spicoli is going to get creamed with that porous O-Line.  I feel sorry for that kid.  Almost every first over all draft pick ends up on the shittiest team in the league, and they expect him to be their super hero.  Especially if he's a quarterback.
1898  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Updating from 3.3.8 to current version 4.1.5 on: September 02, 2021, 09:28:01 PM

I've been using 3.3.8 for about 5 years and I've got some funds in the wallet although it's been a while since I last updated electrum
and now I'm wondering if with all these bech32 and lightning network implementations would be safe to jump straight from 3.3.8 to 4.1.5 ?

Thanks in advance for any sound advice.

You won't have any issues upgrading to the new version.  It does have a couple of extra features, like you've noted, but they will have no affect on your current wallet files.  Electrum does steer users to create bech32 wallets when creating new wallets, but it'll open legacy wallets just fine.  Unless you specifically turn on the lightning feature, you won't see any effect on your wallet.

I suggest you refer to one of the many guides on verifying the integrity of the download, here's one that I wrote.

Wow I have to say I am a bit shocked by the news of the Patriots releasing Cam.  I did not expect that to happen.  I figured they'd at least give Cam the nod to start and if he struggled they could easily just put in the rookie.  I personally think this is kind of crazy that they didn't at least keep him for a bit to let the rookie learn/grow or use him as a back up in case they needed to bring him in for whatever reason.  Personally I just don't think this was a smart move.

Holy macaroni, that's a surprising move for Belichick.  It was pretty obvious that Jones played better during the preseason, but that doesn't always translate to the regular season.  I've never been a fan of Cam Newton, but I tend to agree that this was a bad move.  I think Mac Jones has the potential to thrive in the Patriots system, he's built for that type of offense, but I also think he would have benefited from a slower approach.

Im offering only a few loans to reputable people.
YOU HAVE TO HAVE COLLATERAL.
Reply with loan amount up to 100 euros btc equivalent.
Nothing over 7 days. $5 fee for each day needed.

You offer loans to reputable members but how do you expect those members to choose and trust you? A newbie without any kind of history? And you ask for 5% per day? Roll Eyes Cheesy
I'm pretty sure that your intentions are more than shady. Unfortunately for you, nobody will send you a dime or any kind of collateral. Cool

Actually he's asking for $5 per day, not 5%.  If you borrow $50 that's 10% per day, borrow $25 that's 20% per day.  Not to mention that we've got a 1-post newbie asking for collateral with no mention of escrow.  And such a bargain; only asking for 75% of the loan value for collateral.  Could it be possible this is just an attempted collateral scam?

Even if he is a legitimate lender (which I doubt,) if someone borrows $100 from him and gives him $75 as collateral, after 7 days the borrower would owe 180% of the collateral.  What could go wrong?
