2042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TEKcoin PoS/PoW on Cryptsy! 30 days 40% Stake on: May 27, 2014, 06:48:37 AM
Guys, i have 500 coins, how do i start staking?

make sure you wallet is unlocked and leave the coins in the wallet. it'll mint new coins eventually (don't move them around).

What do you mean by unlocked? Do i have to keep my wallet open 24/7?

if your wallet is encrypted, unlock it. it's not necessary to keep the wallet open 24/7 as the blockchain will move without it being open, so when you open your wallet, it will sync up and populate any changes directly from the blockchain.

So i deposit coins into my wallet, keep the coins in there and every 30 days i open up the wallet to get my coins, and repeat?
Not quite that regular, and you'd raise your chances by being connected. After thirty(ish) days you'll go to stake. I've staked once now, and it was at 38 days. But it was a very small amount of coin. Bigger wallets raise the stakes, pun intended. It's also a good idea, if you want the payout to be regular, to send the whole balance that you're attempting to stake to yourself. Makes one consolidated block of coins to stake instead of a bunch of small ones.
The staking function works well in TEK, unlike most PoS coins. It takes a while, but it has a high return.

SHA bagholder here. I applaud your efforts!

What I'm wondering is how you're handling the distribution. Where are the coins now, and where are they going? If they are going to a development fund, or being intentionally destroyed, I would back that. Otherwise, I'm not sure of a way to fairly distribute them.. maybe everyone who traded SHA (or the affected coins in general) on the exchange gets a piece? Even though that would probably get me some coins, I'm not sure it's all that great of an idea.

Frankly, I think the best idea would be to burn them. Make the coins that much more valuable.

They were cut out of the block chain from my understanding. They posted it somewhere they have blocked around 97% of those coins from ever being apart of QB now.

We only had access to quarkbar source so could prevent those coins from entering circulation. Is there a representative of the shacoin comnunity?

Well, I mined a hell of a lot, sold some, bought some, and lived through the whole debacle. I'm on good terms with the final dev, CryptoGir. I got no official standing, don't know that anyone does at this point, but if you tell me what you need, I can get it to the right ears.

EDIT: frank123m seems to be the most active or at least the most visible in trying to fix things.

I think SYNC doesn't have enough problems, so add one more from me Cheesy Wallet crashes windows if left open (is overnight long time??? is 3-4 hours long time???). It crashed my system twice already, running no other programs but OS and wallet. I think it causes windows to BSOD.

I'm Windows superuser so don't even try to tell me to do some bulls**t, like install updates or drivers. My system is Win7 x64, has all updates and drivers and other stuff and it runs just fine for long periods of time.

Did we ever get an answer as to how many blocks coins have to mature before they're eligible for stake? I'm not good enough at sifting through code to figure it out on my own Tongue I sent all my bag in one send to myself to make it all stake at the same time, and I'm curious how long to ignore it.

Ok now tell me if you dont have to get angry:

more than 24 hours to show my deposit at poloniex

now that it shows up, it is stuck like this SINCE THIS MORNING:

My ticket at Pol is still opened.
I'd like to know your opinion...

PS the first who will give a negative or offensive comment will be put in ignore.

Things like this are unfortunately COMMON. Most of the exchanges have serious brain issues, and Polo is one of the better ones. They are, for the most part, not very professional. That being said, Busoni almost always fixes things expeditiously once he's aware of them.

My favorite is Bittrex, but they haven't the volume yet.

haha "serious brain issues" I mean look Mt. Gox CTO was a former PHP coder, hackers came, opened door almost immediately

I don't buy Karpeles story, to be honest. I think he ran with the bag. Can't prove it, but you don't just "lose track" of ~ $765,000,000. Nobody could be that stupid. They'd forget to breathe.

but i am disgusted... we have here small problem and developer is lying bacause is sunday?
or is now someone working for fix ?

Well, last I saw developer put out, what? 3 new wallets in one day? All while he had said he wasn't feeling well. So I think we should let him rest if he needs to. Who knows when he will get to sleep again. Problems we have are relatively small for the short term imo.

thats REALLY true - if there in outer space is someone that cant get this Thing running - then PLEASE BE PATIENT AND DO US A FAVOUR - behave like an adult AND READ THE DAMM LAST 1MIO SITES HERE

every question is still answered - its a bit frustrating when about every second a new post is like

"HELP ME MY WALLET is not syncing" - when dozens of other People had the same question AND it was answered and solved

try the same solving as it functions on about 200 other Posts - BUT you have to read - do you know that Kind of stuff ?

is that Thing with the eyes rolling from left to right following this Little astonishing spots on the Screen

its not a bug its language - so please in your own interest DONT SMASH YOUR SHOES ON IT

Thanks

Don't be a condescending prick when your clearly a shill account for the DEV or an alias for the other condescending douches on this thread like maybe Raskul  or Sovie    7 posts and all in this thread    your not fooling anyone.

PEACE, gentlemen. I know y'all are frustrated, but lets not drag each other through the mud. Frankly, I'm in the same time zone as the dev, so you might as well point me with that brush too. No, I don't know him, or at least I doubt it. Don't know who's behind the alias to be sure. Raskul is my friend, but he's on the other side of the Atlantic, and in PRIVATE has been just as frustrated several times. But he, and I, want this coin to succeed and have seen no REAL sign of shenanigans. Just a guy that bit off a lot and hasn't got it chewed yet. NO PoS coin has had a perfect transition, to my knowledge. Zimstake, the best recent one, did the PoW and PoS mining simultaneously, and there were some hiccups even then. For one, it blew the estimates of how many PoW coins there would be out of the water. This one, by contrast, didn't start the PoS until the PoW was done. And it didn't work correctly. It's being fixed, but the dev is a human being. Give him a minute. Anybody who has been in the game for longer than a few minutes has seen disastrously worse launches than this. Some catastropic, as in the coin no longer functions. This one is just slow. It's fixable, as it IS working. Just not optimally.

CHILL FOR A BIT

Everything seems to be working from my end. Got paid from the multipool last night as well. Scrypt, to the next question.

I don't need to, I am thinking he dumped his coins and he's looking for a way to buy back.

you lose USB stick and it is all gone in seconds, we want to lock all our SYNC's to create very tight secure market, it is part of it's allure

type "how to encrypt wallet" and "crypto" and another search "how to encrypt USB drive" this is your Today's homework, take your time, your future retirement might be in your hands (depending on the amount) also do not give in to immediate gains even if coin goes up to 6 BTC per unit.. hold tight thank you

I'M holding on to my .3 coin  lol until it reaches 20 to 40btc per coin   Grin still mining for it though

For those of us that were here at launch, I just read through the past 15 pages....wtf happened to our thread. For all of the late people coming to this thread, if you don't have the common courtesy to have patience while issues come and go then get of crypto now. It's not perfect, sources need tweaking for every coin including grandpa Bitcoin. Leave this thread if you are just going to complain and whine all day, I can tell many of you are between the age of 16-24. Here's a wake up call for you, when you finally get out of mom and dad's house, the world doesn't give a fuck about what you want, the reality is you are not special, and not entitled to anything in life. You want something? Then contribute to helping solve issues, blockchains are a peer to peer entity many things on your computer are actually the issue, whether it be closed ports, or something else.

Bottom line, grow some patience if you cannot help. If you are having a similar issues to others, simply state "I'm having that issue as well". The dev reads every comment on this thread and has done so every day since before launch. GROW UP!

eeeeexcellent, however I have very strong hope for *new generation* they will take all of this tech to a completely new level... their fathers and mothers (and uncles) working for corporate institutions are semi blocking our developments, but this will change by their doings.. and for that I am extending my respect and I hope they wont destroy planet in the process

and yes. wallet aint synching.. but this is a trivial thing.. main thing is to have coins displayed in Spendable.. rest will be either worked out by dev in a day or two.. or whenever..  eeeeeassssssy this aint solving cure for cancer.. there is a coin for that too..  Cool

and... we dont see this kind of "give me give me give me now" activity on curecoin where people's lives matter.. think about it. you do "give me give me give me now..." here for pure greed purposes.. let's be honest...

I've been offline for a few hours, and I'm far from my wallet right now, so until I catch up I'm not going to address the technical issues, but I do want to respond to your post. Mainly, because there are elements in it that I both agree and disagree with.

Particularly, this segment :

I'm not familiar with curecoin. I'll check it out later. I just want to put out a bit of a philosophica perspective on the idea of greed.

Don't call somebody "greedy" in a pejorative way if they are trying to make a profit. Profit is gain, and gain is the strongest single motivator of human progress. I am an anarchist and a capitalist, so I'm out to make a buck and do it standing on my own. That being said, I am sympathetic to the plight of my fellows, and give to causes that I believe in when I have the resources to do so. The more you can profit, the more you can give without becoming a mendicant yourself. So, greed is not a negative unless it's out of control. If it's the only driving force in your life, you have a problem. But the other side of that coin is worse. A "selfless" person will give themselves over to "the cause", without thought, without conscience (can't have one if you have no sense of self, right?) and will gum up the gears.

Capitalism is the economic system I choose because it works. It works the best for the little guy right up through the rich cat. Not because it's ideal, it isn't, but because it's something that every person can wrap their head around. Put in x labor, get y reward. Invest it, play for a gain, wash, rinse, repeat.

I really haven't seen that much rampant greed in this thread. A bit of good natured speculation, and some frustrations when it (inevitably) has a problem. I recognize several names in here from the SHAcoin debacle, and some from the much more fun and profitable launch of Zimstake. We all got burned on SHA. Some are still trying to fix it, and others have an itchy trigger finger because of it. Let's try to keep it civil, eh? (not aimed at you, just a general statement).

It does appear that the dev is on the situation. Being on it don't mean he has a handle on it yet, but he will, or he'll call to us for help.

Bitcointalk is a hostile environment. There are some people on here who seem to have a sole interest i causing others misery. Another group that sees absolutely everything as a scam, even when it's so clearly not that they HAVE to simply be trolling. And there are a lot of people on here that think having a few hundred posts under their avatar means they have the right and duty to shit all over newbies. I hate that, though I also have to say that some newbies have it coming. Let's all keep our tempers and NOT jump a guy for a dumb seeming question unless there is good reason to.

I missed the launch of this coin by four hours, because I couldn't be home. I was watching. It was one of the smoothest launches I've ever seen, and the dev has been pretty responsive to the few issues that were encountered. The change from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake is almost never without issue, and if you run them concurrently, less is mined during PoW phase. I understand WHY it's desirable to have a "Pow to here, then PoS" design, but in practice it hasn't worked smoothly ever, as far as I know. It will be rectified, either by the dev or the users. It is, after all, an open source project.

Personally, I am motivated by profit. In the case of this coin, probably relatively short term, though I am mining the multipool. Not because I think the coin will fail, I actually think it has great potential, but because I'm already heavily involved in two other coins, one of which has done me naught but good, and another that led me to be employed in this industry, actually doing something I like doing to feed my family instead of cooking your fucking dinner for the four thousandth time. So, take it all with a grain of salt. A guy wanting to gain has all sorts of motives aside from simple greed, and his greed might very likely feed yours.

I'm also motivated by a different sort of profit. The monetary profit being what most people see, I think this needs illustrated. One of my biggest gains in getting involved with cryptocurrency has been to put some joy back into a rather miserable existence over the last few years. I have fun with this. I've yet to make a large profit on any launch, and have in fact lost a fair amount of my gains more than once. But I am successful by increments, and I ENJOY this! Hell, sometimes even the trolls are amusing.

And I've ranted enough. Carry on, calm down, and life will go on. Hopefully so will Sync Cheesy

not ranting, we are talking Cool hope you had great Saturday , not much to add besides my wallet won't sync would you think just because of crypto and online presence people will lose their nature ? hell no  Cool  excessive greed I have problem with, greed to do good later like employ people on decent conditions or invest in the private version of NASA so we can start exploring outer space, than again I am for whatever you want to do with your money is your business as long as you don't interrupt people trying to do something else with their money, yeah! go America.. still is like that

Curecoin is good because it could be, and in life stranger things have happened, protein folding process might discover cure to your own medical condition as we all develop growing older (no escape! sooner or later we all get old "Alphaville" "Forever Young"

Edit just after I hit quote, and with something cool to boot Tongue

I'm a transhumanist, and I would actually give a LOT to see nanotech/nanobiology find the cure(s) for aging. If I ever do manage to make a fortune, I'll sink most of it into that very thing. Use the gains of one lifetime to purchase another, and solve a lot of problems for a lot of people all at the same time Cheesy That, I think, is the proper use of greed.

As to the wallet not syncing, I'm not home and my wallet is. I haven't been able to update yet. But if you still can't get it rolling, here's something I and a couple others have done in the past with other coins.
1. Back up your wallet.dat file. Preferably several times, since shit likes to happen.
2. Have a friend with a working (synced) wallet copy the whole content of his ..appdata\roaming\sync file except Wallet.Dat, zip it up and send it to you.
3. Replace yours with his, launch your wallet (without your backup wallet at this point)
4. When it's all in sync, delete the newly generated wallet.dat (or use it for a cold wallet, perhaps) and copy your backup wallet.dat in.
5. shut down and restart wallet. Should all be good.

It's a clumsy fix, but it does work.

ok
for all those having trouble do this

goto your dat file

before doing anything SAVE THE DAT FILE SOMEWHERE ELSE
and the config file
if you don't have one look on the first page of this thread

NEXT...

delete all traces of the wallet (not the dat file you have just saved SOMEWHERE ELSE)
delete the link on your desktop as well

NOW DOWNLOAD THE NEW WALLET

START IT UP AGAIN

CLOSE IT AGAIN

Go to where the new dat file is and delete that ONLY

NOW GO TO WHERE YOU SAVED YOUR ORIGINAL DAT FILE
and paste or copy it back to the new sync folder
copy the config as well and paste it in the new wallet sync folder

NOW START THE WALLET UP AGAIN

let it sync

if it gets stuck
close and restart
if need be do it 2 or 3 times.....

eventually you will sync

then continue bleeting about not staking because
it will take time to do so its a lottery

peace Wink

YOU NOW I HAVE A WALLET THAT HAS USD AND YANG AND PASO AND IQD WHY THE FUK DO WE NEED TO FK UPDATE WALLETS I DONT... FUk MORN  LETS DUMP THIS FUCKUNGVCOIN AND MAKE IT A WHITE COIN AND DO A CASE ACTION SUIT AGAINST THE GREEDY DEV   FUCK

Sorry? Could you try that again in... any language other than gibberish? Even google translate can't handle gibberish on the left side..

Thats my luck. I lost too much on trade, 1.7btc to 0.1btc.

I am very stubborn. A casual observer might mistake it for patience. I'll wait it out. If I sold at today's prices, and kept half, I'd still break even. It has to drop in half from yesterday's low for me to lose money. I can chill.

Shit happens when you mine new coins. I've seen FAR worse. SHAcoin springs to mind...

How can I configure the stats page to show separate charts for different miners?
(like this: http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH )

Just add an underscore and a miner name for each miner

e.g. the graph above is generated with the login username in the miner software for each miner differentiated thus:

1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH_isengard63
1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH_AX007202
1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH_AX002901
1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH_AX007267
1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH_AX007341
etc
etc
etc

how would I know the miner name to an S1? looking over the configs, uname etc, I dont see anything unique to each S1

Stick some labels on them. You put the username in on the miner, so pick a naming convention change he username in cgminer and stick a label with the name on the outside.
Gotta love the KISS method Cheesy

This design is pretty lame considering the hash power one requires these days. What a mess to get up to a THASH of these.

these are for a small miner.

If they get 35GH and  If they use 38 watts  with a plat psu  .  you can buy 1  and let it solo mine.

Good luck with that lol
you are assuming that everyone will mine bitcoin. I find 'em interesting, and I would likely be mining TEK with 'em. rougly 5 coins a day. Double what I'm doing now, at half the power consumption of my current rig.
