Tsitsipas tried better in the second set there was a chance for him, but Rune did not give the slightest chance for his opponent to make it down. Tsitsipas is a good player but unfortunately he often disappoints even at important moments.
Waiting for what he can do to overcome Djokovic

This is something I was saying a couple of days ago. Tsitsipas is a talented player but once again, he disappoints by not winning the tournament. Have not heard a lot about Rune before but seems to be another young talent and only 19 years old (same as Alcaraz).

Oh yes Rune is a quality player, from seeing him play throughout the year he is
super competitive and super psyched all the time.

In contrast Korda seems very relaxed to him, he needs to get fired up more especially,
when you are in a final

Everyone I know is earning less now than before the last recession 2008/2009, I can vouch
for what the OP is saying on that point.

"Everyone I know" is not a valid argument in any conversation because it has a small-sample error. "Everyone you know" most likely is from the same country, most likely from the same region, most likely with symilar education level etc. Also "Everyone I know" is impossible to verify, impossible to challenge and impossible to discuss further.

The only thing I can say here is - Everyone I know is earning more now than before the last recession 2008/2009.

Also you did not mention if you are talking about lower salary or lower purchasing power of salary.

I agree somewhat, eventhough it's a small sample we are definitely not isolated. I have listened
to reports over the the years and recently which state that low to middle earners have not seen
the same salaries as prior to the last recession.

True, there are sectors which have had handsome wage increases but I would argue they are not
the majority. We are not called the "squeezed middle" for nothing. We are the majority so we feel
it the most.

I tried looking for some evidence of this and can only find the average wages over the last 12 years
in my country, bear in mind that almost 50% of the population live in or around the capital.

The chart shows that wages have increased by €1000 over 12 years "average"

Felix AA had a massive service advantage over Gasquet which paid out for him when both
sets went to tie breaks. I was really impressed by Gasquet,  he is a very creative player and pulled
out some crazy shots.

Felix AA is favourite for another win here.
Gasquet is a class act on the pitch all the way, age and injuries have taken their toll in the last couple of years and I did not expect him to get back to these levels again. I guess he decided there is still time for another resurgence on the tour.

My prediction of Rune having higher winning probability won, and I didn't expect the final to be a win from him. Once again Tsitsipas failed to win the trophy. Rune have won in the direct sets and this makes it a bad performance from Tsitsipas. Atleast he could've managed to take the match towards the third set. Now, Tsitsipas is to play against Djokovic in Vienna Open. We already knew the result for the match.
Didn't watch any match in this tournament but knowing the players and their capabilities I am a bit surprised by result. Rune is a great player but he has a lot of problems with consistency and i feel like Tsitisipas should have been more than able to use that to his advantage.

Yes Gasquet's injuries have taken their toll, it would be nice to see him having a good spell
now, always entertaining to watch him.

As regards Tsitsipas v Rune, I was unsure which way to bet so I didn't in the end. It must
be unbelievably frustrating for Tsitsi to have reached so many finals and fall short and now
losing to Rune well done to him to get it done in 2 sets!

2- "I cannot see any increase in salaries" - wrong

Everyone I know is earning less now than before the last recession 2008/2009, I can vouch
for what the OP is saying on that point.

The interest rates were kept too low for too long. So many companies over leveraged themselves with the cheap money and now the money is getting more expensive, naturally they will suffer from it. It is the FED’s fault keeping the rates too low for nearly a decade and now is the payback time. It is not going to be pretty for many people because most of them will lose their jobs and life savings.

Well it's interest rates which are being used to counter recession, this will hurt low to
middle income earners, same as the last recession, they were the group who paid the most.

And more talks about the recession continues, this could probably be the worst recession in recent time but there are chances that it may even get worse in 2023.
The global finance is in shambles and I think the Corona virus pandemic many not be the sole reason but to put it plainly the finance of the globe has yet recovered full from its causes.

I think the currency measures put to tackle inflation and recession are becoming outdated and not effective so if they can integrate new measures one that hasn't yet been tried it might lead us somewhere.

I agree, this all started with COVID-19 and the resulting money printing which followed,
then following was the war in Ukraine and the resulting increase in everything.

For sure we are in for tough times.

Japan v Italy --- Italy -17 @ 1.88
Canada v USA --- Canada -12 @ 1.88
England v South Africa --- England -61 @ 1.88

I think the first two are realistic winning bets, Not so sure if the Red Roses can put up
61 points on the Springbocs

---URC---

Edinburgh are gone out to 1.21 against Zebre so I have a bet on there.

And I have the Stormers to beat Cardiff @ 1.28

I believe all of the South African internationals are back at the club's this weekend so they
are back at "full strength".

Not a bad weekend with Rugby betting.

In the WRWC Italy beat Japan but couldn't manage the 17 points difference so I lost that one.
Canada beat the USA 29-14 and England did manage to gather 61+ points over South Africa which was a totally one sided affair 75-0.

There is something wrong there, for South Africa being what I call a 'Rugby Nation' and being
the Men's World Cup holders it seems the Women's side needs more development.

In the last two games of the URC I had bets on, Edi burgh rightly won at Zebre but Cardiff
saw off the Stormers which is massive for them IMO, final score there was 30-24.

Rugby League World Cup

I have just two bets on - Ireland to beat Lebanon and Papua New Guinea to beat
the Cook Islands, I have done a -16.5 point spread on that one.
2108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: October 23, 2022, 07:14:24 AM
The antwerp atp semifinals seem promising, thiem vs corda and aliasime vs gasquet, gasquet is a huge underdog despite the good performance he showed in this competition so far i think he will pose a big threat for the canadian i think a handicap for gasquet is a really good bet, and on the second game it seems difficult to predict both players made a great comeback recently i think we might see a three sets war.

Korda won against Thiem 2-1 and now is in the final and i was just thinking that this was the time he would win the tournament. Auger leading 1-0 in sets against Gasquet and looks like another final for him and maybe a chance to win two tournament in a row.

I got to see the last sets of each match. Thiem did really well to win a set, I think next year
for sure he will be a big challenger.

Felix AA had a massive service advantage over Gasquet which paid out for him when both
sets went to tie breaks. I was really impressed by Gasquet,  he is a very creative player and pulled
out some crazy shots.

Felix AA is favourite for another win here.

The market is suspended completely on the Lions Vs Edinburgh match, but I was able to place wagers on the other fixtures.

The women's competitions are also on this week-end.  I've got money on England and a couple of others too.  Are you betting on them?

Yes today I'm doing 3 bets for today. I'm feeling a bit free with the Satoshis.

0.1mBTC on each of the following:

Japan v Italy --- Italy -17 @ 1.88
Canada v USA --- Canada -12 @ 1.88
England v South Africa --- England -61 @ 1.88

Thanks for that Timelord, I don't know why I didn't go to the NRL site before, I have been
trying to keep up to date here but it's not easy >
https://www.intrl.sport/competitions/rugby-league-world-cup/

I haven't made any bets on R2 of the RLWC yet. but those bets on the points spread are
indeed a bit risky.

Rugby Union

Our two bets in the URC paid out.

The bulls beat Benneton 44 to 22
and Connacht beat Scarlets 36 to 14

I was going to back both Edinburgh and Leinster but the odds are too low but I'm going to
go with the Stormers to beat Cardiff.

2112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: October 21, 2022, 06:32:33 AM

I checked on who is Tsitsi potential opponent is and it's a tough one,

it's either defending champion Tommy Paul or home favourite Mikael Ymer.

Nevertheless I also see another tough match for Tsitsi for either of this player and I do agree that this match might be extended to a full 3 sets as both Paul and Ymer is tough, and so this is a close one for Tsitsi, but I wlll not be surprised that he will go to the semifinals of this tournament.

Tsitsipas with the winning form will continue to overcome Ymer without much of difficulty. In the match against Maxime Cressy he was in a tough situation and he took it forward winning in the direct set after hard fight. As said, there is more chances of match moving to the third set and both the players of the similar age will have a game comprising lengthy rallies.

I was just going to check who was left in the tournament and in all likelihood Tsitsipas
should be able to win given the form he is in. There might be interesting betting opportunities
from here on Tsitsipas. He is 1.24 v 3.95 against Ymer and at -5 he is 2.26!

I was checking over at Antwerp and interestingly Thiem has made it through so far
and faces Hurkacz which will be difficult.

Thank you!!! Finally, Mr. Wrong was proven wrong... Next step is confirmation of the same statement in UK!!

Interesting to see how the law works in the UK given that Cobra did not even attempt to put up a case when he was sued by CSW - so we don't have much info on whether the UK courts would be as knowledgeable and straightforward as their Norwegian counterparts.

Will hodlonaut be able to use the same evidence in the UK court which he used in Norway?

If yes then surely they have to see it as it is and see the absolute lies which CSW has
engaged in?

Surely the same report which KPMG were tasked with can be called upon for "any" trial
going forward? the facts which were uncovered won't change from country to case.

2115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Two Gambling Stories on: October 20, 2022, 06:59:47 PM
These are two gambling stories that are very interesting

Story 1
A man stole his girlfriend's 10k to place a bet. He won 100 million and returned 10k to his girlfriend. His girlfriend is furious and demands 40 million dollars.

Story 2
An apprentice who won 16 million naira on BET was asked by his boss to split the money into two parts. This 50 - 50. As the story goes, people sided with his boss, and he had no choice but to comply. It's important to remember that the money used to bet belongs to the apprentice, not the boss.

*Read the different opinions of people here

First, in your opinion, what would be a reasonable amount to give his girlfriend? Second, assuming you were the apprentice in the story, would you abandon your training or would you have given in to the pressure to split the money with your boss?

Honestly half.  He stole it it's not like he borrowed it.  Likely to say he would have never paid her back.  If we are talking usd here what's the difference between 100mil and 50mil when you never had even close to that.  He shoukd just be thankful she doesn't report him to the police lol.  Take half and run!

Yea the most important word in the headline is STOLE, technically she is entitled to
all of it! but it was him who placed the bet, if he didn't the money wouldn't have been won
so yea the fair outcome would be 50/50. I wonder what a court would rule on it?

Would the man be punished?
if he had lost the bet he most certainly would be!

Just checking on Rollbit and they don't have that game listed, maybe later.
Round two is Wales v Tonga!

I do see some one sided games listed based on the odds...

Australia -62.5 @ 1.81 v Scotland +62.5 @ 1.93 - it's obvious Australia will win but will
they clock up minimum 63 points difference?

Also

England -38.5 @ 1.94 v France +38.5 @ 1.81 - I think that's a more realistic handicap or at
least achievable for England.

Rugby Union

Just checking over the line ups for Round 6 of the United Rugby Championship this coming
weekend and I see some interesting betting opportunities.

---

Benneton at home with the Vodacom Bulls visiting, I'm going with the Bulls, they should
have too much firepower for the Italian side.

Vodacom Bulls @ 1.51

---

Connacht at home against Scarlets, I'm going with Connacht, they lost to top side
Leinster last week and while not managing to score only held Leinster to 10 points.

Connacht @ 1.4

---

I'll probably also go with EdinburghVisitors to win against Zebre.

And Leinster at home to beat Munster.

I don't see odds on these games yet.

One other WTA tournament running ATM - Guadalajara, I wonder if Swiatek will play there?

Anyone following this tournament?

I have caught a few games with no bets yet. It looks like this is the tournament which
will determine the last places available in the WTA finals.

Swiatek, Jabeur and Pegula have already secured their spots.

With one week left, a single tournament -- the Guadalajara Open Akron --
will determine the majority of the singles field at the WTA Finals in Fort Worth.
With three players qualified (Iga Swiatek, Ons Jabeur and Jessica Pegula), five spots remain.

Me too, as are many others! I would be interested in a collectible item and with a unique
design rather than something simple like a BTC symbol and HODL or something.

So yes I would be interested but not a mug or cap or tee.

What kind of product would you find interesting?

I suppose something with a unique design or unique piece of art depicting Bitcointalk.org.

Is it more comfortable for you to buy directly from a street store, paying with Bitcoin? Or are the fears the same?
Yeah, that's like a cash transaction. They don't know my name and where I live and I don't need to know their either. That is of course they aren't using a payment processor that requires full KYC, which doesn't make it worth my time to: a) undergo KYC, and b) spend more money than I would if I paid with cash (considering the network fees + the service processing fees by the payment processor.

That's a good point actually, using a walk in shop to buy doesn't necessitate us giving any
personal information other than a name fake or real and a contact number
