Djokovic is the heavy favorite and Tsitsipas reached the final after winning from behind after loosing the first set. I am expecting it to be a longer match up and Djokovic winning the final.
i don't think we will see Tsitsipas giving a hard time for Djokovic, Stefanos is a moody guy and he will probably fight a little bit in the first one and lose the 2nd easily, Djokovic to win 2-0 is a good bet in my opinion since him winning is as low as 1.3
Djokovic in recent days have won every match on the direct set. Only match in which he lost is against Felix Augur in direct sets after a hard fightback in the second set. Tsitsipas is in good position and the same could create big variation in the odds based on the first set win.

Well it was easy enough for Djokovic, Tsitsipas couldn't get the match to the third set,
final score 6-3, 6-4.

Such a pity Medvedev had to retire yesterday after pulling a muscle, He had the second set
and looked like he could beat Djokovic.

ATM there are only a handful of players able to beat Djokovic, he could be back into
the no.1 spot in no time at all.

Swiatek v krejcikova final starts now at Ostrava, should be a good match. I have a bet on
Swiatek @ 1.46 which is nice odds on the #1.
It is Medvedev who missed a close opportunity out of the injury. As said very few players were able to have fightback games with Djokovic. If Medvedev haven't got injured the semifinal would've been more interesting.

You've got lucky to have the nice odds on Iga Swiatek, because the game result is 90% confirmed before the start of the match.

Well it was a 3 set battle for this final and krejcikova proved that Iga is beatable. First
two sets were close enough, second set decided by tie break but the third was decisively
krejcikova's 6-3

You've got lucky to have the nice odds on Iga Swiatek, because the game result is 90% confirmed before the start of the match.

Everyone could've had the same thought on the Final between Swiatek and Barbora. The odds were also in favour of Swiatek, all who had a prediction against the low odds could've enjoyed good profit with the win(Barbora 5-7 77-64 6-3 Swiatek).Barbora have reached the World No.2 position during the February month and this month she reached second position on doubles. Anyhow this is a disappointment for most of the gamblers.

Yea dissapointing for Swiatek backers although I would say quite a few had Barbora backed too.

2123  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org collectible coin ideas & vote on: October 09, 2022, 08:51:23 AM
If there's no official plans or other substantial community effort I'll likely revisit the idea, and determine how viable it is closer to the time. I think I'd be more interested in doing something like this for the 20th anniversary as opposed to the 15th though. No other reason than I think it's more significant, due to it being the second decade. Hence why I would've liked to seen something like it for the 10th anniversary.

I definitely wouldn't leave it so late, and I'd probably get the communities input once again well in advance. It would be properly planned, and thought out if I were to pick it up in the future.

All I can say for now, is hopefully Tongue. However, it's a little bit too soon at the moment.

I hope we can make this come to life before the 20th anniversary.  I've got a lot of ideas and can certainly help out in any way needed.  Not sure if Casascius or Kialara would be interested.  I'm actually chatting w/Kialara right now, so I will send him this thread to see what he thinks.

Surely some maker like Kialara would be interested in getting on board with this, it should
be a very inviting project to work on and I think there is enough support already for something
to happen. I can only guess that as the project developed it will gain more interest.

Picked up my pumpkins today  Smiley

Contestant List

1) ChiBitCTy (I wont be in the running fyi, just participating)
2) KrispyKrypto

Now they are two very fine rounded specimens ChiBitCTy!

I picked up mine yesterday, I wasn't sure I would get one so I got a Red Kuri squash
and later walked into a Pumpkin which will be easier to carve.

Thank you for putting this together Chi. and that's a very generous haul of prizes.

Does that most recognized list update still to this day ?
Yeah those BPIP lists are updated constantly.

Anyone else have any suggestions for how to set up the vote ?
As @SFR10 said, you have to limit the voters in some way because if you go with a simple poll, someone will try to abuse it with bunch of brand new accounts. If there is any chance that something can be abused around here, it will be.

My suggestion is to make people vote by simply writing the name of the contestant they think it was the best, limit it to at least Full Member & above and eventually certain amount of merit earned.

IDK about limiting the voting to Full Member, there are some very active people in this
board who have not reached Full Member and probably don't care about ranking

What about a panel of 3 judges as an option? obviously those who are not taking part.

Rugby Union.

snip

The RLWC starts next week and first up the underdogs (according to the tab.com.au website who were very accurate in the 2022 NRL series) England, Fiji, PNG and Lebanon makes for a $25,000 parlay at one dollar down.   Grin

Whaaat?
Now if those wins play out it will be some scoop - best of luck with that.
I will look into the games ahead during the week.

Rugby Union

URC

I have 3 bets on the URC all playing today and I have my first winner already

Rugby Union

Stormers to beat Zebre

There was a big win for my home team Connacht last night, they hosted Munster and got their
URC campaign up and running with a win 20 - 11. I heard during the week that captain Jack Carthy
was going to be back for the game, I knew it would be a hugh plus for the team but with bundee
Aki still on his ban I thought Munster would win, I didnt bet on that one.
Connacht have a lot of catching up to do after losing their first 3 games.

Womens World Cup

Just checking in with what happened today:

Australia 17 - 41 New Zealand
South Africa 5 - 40 France
Fiji 19 - 84 England - So yea that 56.5 handicap on England would have payed.

Rugby Union

World number 1 England play Fiji who are world #21, the handicaps are -56.5 @ 1.82 v
+56.5 @ 1.89
56 points is a massive score, I would be half tempted to do Fiji for example.

For tomorrow I have a small bet on Italy to beat USA, in orld rankings they are 5 and 6 respectively!
2126  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: October 08, 2022, 08:31:43 AM
Anyone checking in on the Astana Kazakhstan tournament?

We have 2 cracking semi finals to look forward to, Rublev v Tsitsipas and Djokovic v Medvedev.

The first is quite even IMO and Medvedev is favourite to beat Medvedev. That will be
a treat to watch.
2127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union 🏉 League 🏆 Super 6/7s Pro14, Cups & Tours | Olympics | Touch.... on: October 07, 2022, 07:11:52 PM
Rugby Union

Tomorrow is the kick off for the WRWC, Roll it have the games listed but the books
are set at handicaps, I suppose that is because of the big divide in talent in the sides.

World number 1 England play Fiji who are world #21, the handicaps are -56.5 @ 1.82 v
+56.5 @ 1.89
56 points is a massive score, I would be half tempted to do Fiji for example.

I don't have any bets on just yet.

Round 4 of the URC is currently underway. I have 3 bets on this weekend.

Bulls to beat Glasgow Warriors
Ulster to beat Ospreys
Stormers to beat Zebre

b. - get another order delivered FOC from the numbers remaining.

Apologies that it has come to this!

if anyone wants a re-order they are welcome to subsidise the postage cost with whatever they want $2 / $5 - but there is absolutely no obligation to do so

We will have to see if first, if this continue as a trend, then maybe something is wrong with him, whether injured or if this is just a mental slip.

Nevertheless, the future of Alcaraz has been set up already, he become the top seed in just short amount of time. And for sure his coach and his family are behind him 100 percent if he losses just one game at a time. I haven't check the next calendar tournament because it will be good to see him entered and how he will fare on that. So we shouldn't be bothered by his lost, what's important is how he can bounce back next tournament.

Ok, for now we should give him some slack as he is very young and you know, few mental lapses here and there so I get the point.

And yes, he is very young, and even if he is the current number 1 seed, maybe there are a lot of loopholes that he need to improved so we can give it to him as well. But we also want him to be that consistent and just not that kid that get the top seed and then loses it right away, or just like in the case of Medvedev.

I believe that even though he is the current number one in the world, he still has a lot to improve on. And he will also have to learn how to handle pressure. At first, I thought he was the wonder kid who is going to play really fearlessly. After becoming number one, he is not able to maintain consistency in his performance. This could be mental pressure, loss of focus, mental breakdown, or maybe even an injury.

Right now I don't think overconfidence is the issue. Because if overconfidence was the issue, it would have been reflected in his play style. As of right now, nothing is certain, but I hope he will be able to perform better in his next match. He has a promising career ahead of him.

Trofo makes a couple of interesting points above which I never considered and which
make sense. He needs to build a degree of margin into his shots, he backs himself too much.

I posted earlier eluding to the fact that at this stage in the season there could be a motivational
or focus issue, not a permanent one but a very temporary one. He has the talent, fitness and
mental attitude, we know this.

He has a super team around him so whatever needs improving will be taken care of.

For sure he is #1, will be a future #1 and will be in and out of that spot too, it's great being able
to catch this guy early and be able to make some Satoshis's with him.

Yea I think the vast majority of Tennis fans believe Alcaraz is the real deal and a future
number 1 "on and off". We shouldn't expect him to win every game, set, match and
tournament he enters into, same with Swiatek.

I can imagine being a multi millionaire has its challenges like being able to stay focussed
outside grand slams and to be motivated to turn up and win bottom tier tournaments.

Havent received mine yet.

🤬
I have been in contact with a very helpful staff member in the postal service here, because
I used tracking on these packages I can see it is still in my country FFS.

It seems each package going outside the EU must have a special form filled in and attached
to the package otherwise it gets held and out for return to sender.

My contact has requested this return so hopefully I can send it again. I'm so annoyed
that the postal depot where I sent the packages didn't tell me this.

This is also why I guess the original Book has not arrived to you or minerjones or xslyy etc.

anyway I will report back when I find out more. Sorry to all that this is turning into a right clusterfnck.

No pressure but how is everyone getting on with their assignments?

I hope to complete my task by the end of the next week maximum (mid of October). Will keep you posted Smiley

2133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 Bitcoin Halving - What are Your Expectations!!! on: October 06, 2022, 06:17:14 AM
I think the halving will likely be a somewhat non-event as usual.  Sure, we'll probably see a runup in price beforehand and a selloff once it's done as people buy the rumor and sell the news (as if it weren't already locked in).  The real fireworks will probably happen when the rubber hits the road in 2025 though and the cut supply starts really being felt by the market.  I'm expecting summer of '25 to probably bring us the 6 figure Bitcoin we've been waiting for.  If it doesn't hit at least $85K I can say that I will be disappointed.

That's it! we have seen before a run up approximately 6 months before the event and
the question being asked very close to the event "is the halving PRICED IN already?" meaning
on the day of the halving and those days following is the price going to miracously jump,
and it doesn't really. It's the months following where the action really happens.

I would be very dissapointed if $100k isn't crossed!

So dear colleagues, What are your expectations? other than price increase  Cool
*Do you expect to see widespread adoption and acceptance?
*More involvement from big companies?
*More popular?
*Increase number of users?
*Any other.......

There will definitely be more interest generated by the event, newbies are going to
get sucked in and get burned 2 years later.

Widespread adoption and all that - not likely just based on a block reward cut.
2134  Economy / Economics / Re: Reasons you will remain broke as an adult on: October 05, 2022, 01:52:59 PM
I have come to the conclusion that after over 30 years of working my wealth has not really
progressed in any meaningful way. I put this down to a number of reasons.

Commercialism - on my part of being a wreckless spender line the OP's last point.

FIAT Banking - letting myself become ensnared by traditional financial system

Wage Slave

It's up to everyone to try and break the cycle of working to pay loans and or succumbing
to the allure of the "I want" culture.

Or being more financially literate.
2135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The irony of leaving your private keys in a bank on: October 05, 2022, 12:23:39 PM
Pretty much echoing what almost everyone else has posted in that you are countering
what Bitcoin was created for - to give us control over our money. The last place I would put
my Bitcoin or anything related would be a bank!

You are relinquishing your control of your wallet by basically handing it to someone else
and you have limited access to it at the best of times too anyway.

Lots of slogans surrounding this topic, I'll add one...

Be your own bank

Oh. What happened there? Alcaraz was eliminated in the first round in the ATP tournament in Kazakhstan. He lost against Belgian Goffin in 2 sets. His opponent in the final in the US Open, Ruud, was also eliminated in the first round in the ATP tournament in Tokyo. He also lost in 2 sets.

I'm glad I wasn't following the tournament in Kazakhstan, I would have certainly made
a bet on Alcaraz and I had a bet on Ruud at the Tokyo tournament. Very disappointing
from those two.

Bad news for Jannik Sinner. The Italian player has not played today against Otte, due an injury of his ankle. Probably he will not play on ATP next gen and for sure he will not available on Florence tournament.

Looks like he suffered a more serious injury at Sofia, maybe he is forcing it to
qualify for the top 8 competition later on, he is currently sitting on 405 points
behind #8th spot ?

Rugby Union

The Women's Rugby World Cup kicks off this weekend, hosted by New Zealand.

https://www.rugbyworldcup.com/2021/pools

The format is 12 teams in 3 groups. The top 5 ranked teams are present, England,
New Zealand, Canada, France and Italy so big things are expected of them, especially
New Zealand at their home event.

I think Roll it will be listing the games, I'll be making a few bets if they have.

2139  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: October 04, 2022, 08:10:24 AM
Cilic had some good results this year surprising a lot of us but against Djokovic there is a
massive gap.
It is not just a quality gap, it is a total counter in play styles. H2H with Djoković is really terrible 19-2 so it was very expected result. I hoped that he will maybe take one set or last till tie break but even that was asking too much.

Solid tournament in Japan going on now, too bad all the matches are during the night in my time zone so I can't watch anything.

Yes agree on the points of talent and styles. Part of being a top player is knowing how to adapt
to the run of play and what to do to counter your opponents play.

I looked at the Tokyo tournament and I'm the same, very different time zone. I had a bet on
Ruud against Jayme but he lost in 2 sets.

Kyrgios is playing shortly, probably last match of the day, I have a small -5 handicap on him
@ 1.69.....
2140  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org collectible coin ideas & vote on: October 04, 2022, 06:26:05 AM

I will say that I'd love to see this come to fruition, and it doesn't matter if the coins are giveaways or for sale.  Like I said in 2019, I'd be happy to buy one.  There aren't any bitcointalk collectibles out there that come to mind, and I think there's a need for one like this.

I don't think it should be a giveaway but a 'not for profit' project would be a possible idea
and having it as a limited edition would increase the demand so Welsh or whomever
wouldn't be left with surplus coins.

Additionally, krogoth also has a method, using privnote.com. I did not study it very well, but I think we can do something also about the shipping method.

In the end, I think there are much more users willing to own such a coin, than the ones not willing to, therefore, for this reason, I believe that the idea of such a collectible coin should not be abandoned.

Over in the Collectibles board everyone is encouraged to use Privnote.com to share an address
when buying items.

And I think there are a lot of members who would like to see this through.

Would it be an idea to move this thread to the Collectibles board? or maybe start a new one there
when it's decided on the project being started up again?
