2221  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 02, 2014, 07:24:28 PM
On the topic of mining bitcoins, it's not like only a few people have bitcoin asics, hundreds of thousands of people have these bitcoin boards. If it ever went so low there was no profitability, you KNOW there would be someone out there to create another coin that you could use the hardware. It's not a guarantee but that is my take. On a positive note, you could always make your own virtual currency modeled after bitcoin as well if you wanted.

Where have you been?  New altcoins are created virtually everyday.  Most of them are never more profitable than bitcoin and never will be.

There has be actual demand for a coin besides 'pump and dump' for it to retain any real value.  Bitcoin has value because you can actually use it to purchase things.  And most newly mined altcoins are exchanged immediately into Bitcoin.  So they remain essentially worthless.

Mine altcoins for fun but don't expect to do better than mining for bitcoin.

I have to disagree. Over the past week, I've made around 20 percent more by mining alts. But it does require a LOT more vigilance, and you lose out sometimes. The thing is you can't stick to just one, but you have to know when to jump. Or guess accurately.

It is fun, though Cheesy

Plus, my piggies give me a steady bitcoin income.
2222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BonusCoin (BNS) 5 Exchanges|Bonuses|Early Miner Bonus|Games|SHA256 on: April 02, 2014, 06:36:37 PM
@BleuTrade...

Thanks for trying. However, again you're not addressing where the bottleneck lies. I can't login to the system to do screen captures, as I've closed my account. I'm not willing to risk it, but as you are trying to address it, I'll be civil, and detailed.

The problem is not the buttons on the page, nor in getting to that point. That part is fairly obvious.

However, when you get to the withdraw page, it has NO indication of where to put your withdrawal address, and in the space which a user helped me find, it prepopulates with your email address, followed by password. This LOOKS like a verify page. To the right, it has a summary. This is actually pretty nice, as when you put in the amount of coins, it calculates payout right there.

However, the only part that is NOT confusing is where to put the money. Top. Next, it very much looks like, as mentioned, a username/password verification. In fact, that's where the withdrawal address needs to go. There is absolutely NOTHING on the page to indicate that. So, I clicked through thinking that it would then give me a way to enter an address. Instead, it says "Invalid Withdrawal address". My first ticket was about this, and the reply was what buttons to hit to get to the page I was already on, not the question I asked.

Another user told me that it went where the email address filled itself in. Which should have been addressed in the reply to my support ticket. I was angry, and said so. I also went back afterwards and said I was able to resolve it. But it goes on. After that point, when I put in an address and hit it, rather than saying "balance too low" or something to indicate that I had gotten it right, it simply said "invalid amount" or something like. Again, totally counter intuitive. That was the point where I figured I'd lost my coins, cuz I certainly wasn't going to risk any real money after that.

After a stong cup of coffee and a smoke, it occured to me that I now knew basically what it was doing, and that I was probably (though not ever explicitly said) under the withdrawal limit for bitcoin. So, figuring I had nothing to lose, I initiated a trade for BNS, which I was able to successfully withdraw.

So, no, I don't any longer think the exchange is a scam. I did at the time I amended that ticket, and I was feeling very much a fool for not having investigated you more before putting my coins on the block. But after getting some help from one of your users (exchanges that don't close do not have the luxury of having support hours, by the way.), I was able to resolve it. What I do think is that when you go live with sloppy documentation, that any sane person has to wonder what else you've been sloppy about.

I'm over it now. I'm not coming back, but I do offer this as constructive criticism. I have been on most of the major and minor exchanges, and prior to yours, NOT ONCE did I have any difficulty setting up my withdrawal or deposit information. You might think this minor, but it's not. It cost you a customer already. It probably cost you others, less vocal. We are trusting you with our valuable coin. If you look at the above, from my perspective, would YOU come back?

Think about it. I do apologize for blowing my stack, but not for my actions. I think I was correct.

Any word on Atx silver? He had some good momentum going, earthazaar can't sustain on one person though, earthazaar is already built and works well, we need more sellers and just as important buyers. As a community we need to get on reddit to attract some attention to earthazaar and eac in general. I notice any time I post anything about EAC on reddit (even in the earthcoin subreddit), it is almost immediately down voted, without cause. without support from the community up voting, earthcoin post never see the light of day.

From what I understand, a whole bunch of us (most of the team and ATXsilver) had a bunch of personal stuff come up all at once. To the best of my knowledge, he's live, well, and accumulating the majority of EAC.

Which reminds me: I've got some silver to buy  Grin

Maybe it's just me, but the page is very slow to open and refresh, no matter at what time of day or night the page is molasses slow

That seems to be the case on all exchanges. Not sure what they're doing, but it takes significant resources. I had my resource monitor open when I opened cryptsy a couple days ago, and it pegged all four cores for a minute. Well, a few seconds.

EAC can't sustain the same volume as yesterday w/o a huge price increase! The air under DOGE's sails is starting too fail...I suspect that the whales will be looking for a new project!

Hah, Doge has a LOT more momentum, man.

Wishfully blinded thinking, here...

Still, EAC isn't done yet - it has a big community, and SO MANY services.

BTC goes up, all of the viable alts will too...

It'd be nice to break away from that, make the value go up on it's own merit, not just BTC's fortunes.

I have a hard time addressing DOGE. It bothers me viscerally that a coin that was a joke, deliberately, became the third most known Crypto. But one can't argue with success, so all you DOGE fans, bring the ideas that work and put 'em to work.

Except the "doggy speak". Please leave that at home Cheesy

I missed the launch, Dammit!

I wanted to see it go down in real time. I mine with asics, so this was not going to happen for me. But I was too busy to watch in real time.

Nicely done, forgetme!

Also glad to see you stopped engaging the trolls. 10 pools lickety-split. Looks like you got yourself a competitive coin here.

@cryptzilla

Regarding solo mining, I did everything in your list, and couldn't get it working. For reasons I don't understand, whenever I put a raw i.p. into the web interface on my miner, it adds "http://" even if I preface the ip with "tcp://", so it just won't do it. I think this is an issue with the miner control board's firmware. Everything else worked. Got it listening on the right port etc. Is the addy in your sig correct?

Be very wary of Bleutrade. I can't find any way to put in a payout address there, and they are answering anything but the question I asked. I risked a trivial amount, so it's not a big loss. But what if it had been?

CAVEAT EMPTOR.

I'd been voting on MintPal (I'm a dork, so I had a timer set to remind me every hour I'm awake) and when I went to login this morning it told me my account had been disabled! So maybe the bigger boys are no more trustworthy than some of the younger exchanges. I emailed support, so hopefully they fix it, but that's certainly some bullshit.

On a better front, and maybe it's a form email, but I emailed Cryptsy a few days ago and they just sent me this reply:

Thank you for introducing me to this coin.
I have submitted your coin to our development team who will review it
to see if it meets our requirements for addition to the Cryptsy exchange.
If there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know

Jim
Cryptsy.com

Hopefully they'll list you guys!

That would be nice.

Cryptsy takes a lot of heat, some of it deserved. Their site pegs all four cores when I load it, and that's annoying. But they are quick, easy to use, and well documented.
BITTREX has also been very easy to use, though they could use some volume <hint, hint> Same with CryptoAltex. I've only used ALLcoin a few times, and they too were easy to use and quite responsive.

Overall my experience with exchanges has been good. Sorry I blasted Bleutrade so hard, but they need to step up if they don't want to step out.

Our overall goal with the team is to get more people adopting EAC as their commercial coin. If we can get lots of merchants on board, then the exchanges will get lively by synergistic forces. As long as exchange to bitcoin is all the coin gets used for, it's going to stay very cheap. It's total amount is aimed at dollar parity, though that's clearly a long term goal.

If you know of or are a merchant who would be willing to accept EAC, either fully or as partial payment, contact me, or Cryptozark, Or Centurion. We'll assist in any way we can.

CAVEAT EMPTOR.

Yes, always be with new exchanges. They also haven't implemented captcha properly when resetting password.
I did find a withdraw button but only on a coin i have a balance for.
I get the withdraw button just fine. There just ain't no place to put in a bitcoin address. Hit the button anyway, it tells you invalid address (duh?). Opened a ticket, they told me to hit the withdraw button and then ignored me in chat. So I reopened the ticket with bolded text and strong language.

Maybe they're not scamming and just don't bother to read their tickets. The amount I risked was pretty minimal, so I can afford the loss. But it's still irritating. Hopefully they'll resolve it. If they do I'll update, but in the meantime I'm calling shenanigans.

I'm going to state right away, that I'm not backing any exchanges.  They all have risk, even the best ones.  So, you should always be careful with any exchange and keep just the amount you're willing to risk and move coins to secure wallets between trades.

I'll also say what I'm going to discuss is VERY small transactions.  like .03 BTC total or something ridiculously small.   lol.

So with that noted, I did actually do some trading on Bleutrade and Bittrex..  First couple days there were some odd arbitrage between the first 2 exchanges and I wanted to level them out so that the sales on both sides were similar and buyers could get BonusCoin at similar prices.  So, I had to move BTC and BNS between BleuTrade and Bittrex.   Shift between them, etc.

Net result I think pretty much cost me TX fees, but thought it was good for the coin.

Didn't have a problem with withdrawing or depositing to BleuTrade or Bittrex.

I had ~.014 left at BleuTrade this morning.  To check to see if things were still working, I pulled it to Poloniex.  It transferred without issue and is now showing in my account there.

https://blockchain.info/address/12SZmsorgsBL6AbFHLRJ71a5wMsgQGFSnS

That said, I have no idea if they are working for anyone else.  Just thought I'd share my experience.

I did finally get it to accept my address, no thanks at all to their alleged support. Now it says "invalid value" instead of invalid address. I don't know if this means I'm below the withdrawal threshold, or what. It's a piddling small amount, and they are no damn good with documentation. I'm on several exchanges, and none of the rest are vague about procedure. I figure if they're this sloppy with documentation and support, they are dangerous to trade with. I'll write off the small change, and close my account. Your mileage may vary.

EDIT: I did, finally, find where the payout thresholds are (poorly) documented, and that does appear to be the "invalid value" issue. I further decided, I might as well make one more go at getting my money out before writing it off. So, I traded the btc for BNS, and that I was able to withdraw. I have initiated closing my account with Bleutrade, and I shan't ever go back. But in the end, it was resolved thanks to the users of the site. The owners appear not to care, or at least didn't bother to respond. An exchange with this poor of documentation makes you wonder what other shortcuts they took. They don't appear to be a scam, but I wouldn't touch 'em with a ten foot pole after this.

Well, today i did receive the miner Smiley
I only need to get one psu and then test it.

It came with one internal raspberry pi.
Hdmi kabel,3x8pin power kabel.
and one usb connector sticking out of the blue box.

Pics or it didn't happen.

both my wallets on dif computers, do seem to go out of sync after a few hours. then i delete everything but wallet.dat, and it syncs, repairwallet, and all my coins are back. it works for a few more hours, then i must repeat. dev, your wallet must be doing the same thing??

Ok, Walked away for a few days, got my head straight, realized I was still fascinated, bought a few coins (at a higher price than I sold ) and am still having issues. Don't worry, I'm calm this time. Won't freak like I did last time.

So, to those of you still having the syncing problems, are you all running Windows? Raskul got it to sync and stake once he got a Mac wallet. Me, I'm not long enough in to know if I'll stake this time, but I do still have to pretty much brutalize the wallet to get it to sync, and then it slowly drifts out. Running Windows 7.
im still having similar issues. its goes out of sync after a while, but as post above: once you delete everything but wallet.dat file and it syncs up, do repairwallet, and all your coins that would have staked appear(at least for me)
so stake is working a-ok, just something is wierd with the wallet going out of sync at times. no coins are ever lost, theirs no forks, its just a wierd wallet issue, idk what it is
but welcome back Smiley
im waiting for dev to answer if his wallet does the same thing cuz i know im not the only one Smiley
yes i am on windows 7, on 2 dif computers, and the same thing is happening

anecdotally, it seems the problem is mainly with windows then. odd.

Definition of the word nominal - far below the real value.

The definition implies it would do more than 1.2Th/s which it does not.

These miners are 1Th/s only, and 1.2Th/s is the maximum speed in turbo mode maxed out, not the nominal speed.

Even by your Wikipedia article, the miner does not ship out doing a 1.2Th/s average speed. It only does that 1.2T maxed out to the gills.

A 2T hard drive is a 2T, it' the OS that makes it appear less has nothing to do with marketing. You do realize most of what you are posting is bad information?

The lesson is now over...

beg to differ i bought a 1tb hdd  and after its partitions so it can work as a hard drive i am left with around 99.8% usable memory maybe i should sue kingston hmmmm........

You shouldn't beg, it's unbecoming. And you didn't differ.

It's the OS that makes it appear less... as in the OS takes up some of the storage space. More or less depending on a number of factors. Formatting IS part of the operating system.

It's just manipulation. Coin is not dead. EAC will be pumped soon Smiley That is why I bought a lot of this coin Smiley Smiley Smiley

People have been saying that for the last several hundred pages lol.

Do you believe me now? When I say something, it happens.

This happens occasionally. Small pump. Then back to zero. I suspect the same.

Shocked What the fuck are you talking about!!!??? SMALL PUMP?Huh WE ARE TALKING ABOUT 40 BTC!!!!! If you call that small, then i'm sure that you don't mind to give me a small amount of just 1 BTC, PM for more information.

Small pump as in small results. The price went up less than 10sat. Big whoop.

How does Earthcoin's hashrate compare to e.g. Litecoin and DOGE?

Can it act as a child/secondary chain in merged mining, so that it can benefit from the hashing power of other scrypt coins, or is its goal to fragment the scrypt space and require miners to add to the Earth's burden of electricity use instead of re-cycling the existing supply of hashpower/electricity-use?

Presumably the idea of in effect "recycling" hashes thus in a sense the electricity used to generate hashes, is something Earthcoin is eagerly in favour of, right up its alley so to speak?

So that we will see it become a major proponent, possibly the major proponent, of merged mining?

Imagine all the scrypt coins, or all that matter anyway going forward, all being able to help support the Earth by including Earthcoin in their merge when mining!

How can Earthcoin possibly resist such a vision? Let alone oppose it?

-MarkM-

hadn't thought of it, but it seems a ridiculously good idea!

EDIT: I posted it up for the team in our dev chat. We'll see if we got what it takes.
